  1. Pretty nice that a strong-arm fee is 80% tax deductible. And yes, if you want to argue that on a ticket by ticket basis, DU are more expensive. But part of that reason is there is no required donation to get those tickets. So overall cost, UND's are more. And not sure how you can argue you don't have to "pay the strong arm fee"? UND has a waiting list with people that are more than willing to pay it, so clearly if you don't, someone else will and you won't have tickets.
  2. There is no transition, UM and UW joined a different conference as did UND. UW will be back on the schedule next year, though I don't know if we travel there or they travel here. Knowledgeable fans should be excited about Miami and Western Michigan, they are two quality programs along with SCSU/Duluth/Omaha at home. Not hosting Denver this year will be a bummer, but it would have been a slight letdown anyway without Gwoz behind the bench for them. I expect the Ralph to be sold out for pretty much every game except maybe one or both of the exhibitions. There are no games over Thanksgiving or Christmas break so the students should be at every game this year.
  3. It is unknown whether or not UND would have had the same deal with FCS as the contract was up this year. I doubt the deal with FCS was worth monetarily for UND while the Midco deal actually has some $$'s behind it..
  4. Not entirely sure that is accurate. Yes, the NCHC is the ones that deicded schools can't have their own "national" TV deal, but that was because of the limits of the deal that CBSSN put in place. The NCHC agreed to the terms so they are partially to blame, but it is a pretty safe guess it was CBSSN terms that limited it and not the idea of the NCHC so they can't exactly deflect all the blame. But if the conference wanted a national deal for all teams, it was likely the best option.
  5. Where are the B1G logos going to go??
  6. The ticket staff at the REA has gotten through current season ticket holder requests and has moved to fulfilling some of the ones on the waiting list. Sounds like the renewal rate was extremely high again (no surprise).
  7. Good place. Don't forget its 21+ though (as is JL Beers and Parrot's Cay).
  8. Any idea what the parameters or cost for that deal was? NDSU has gotten some good games out of it, though the majority have been on the road. Wondering how many of those they would have been able to get on their own and if they think it was worth it.
  9. I believe the OSU/ND games are part of their early season tourney from the group they signed with (Gazelle Group maybe?)
  10. This is exactly why you calling for someone to be arrested is a little ridiculous at this point. There are a lot of unanswered questions out there. -If Brescani did delete the e-mails, there should still be back-ups of them and once those are found, it will be easy to see why he may have done so. -If he didn't delete them and it was a system purge of some sort, again, there should still be back-ups of them, and a log file of that happening. -If for some reason there are no back-ups or log files, then you are opening up a big can of worms of why someone on the backend would either on their own or by Brescani's (or someone else's orders) delete the e-mails, the back-ups or log files. Again, these questions shouldn't be too hard to come up with actual answers to and will more or less show exactly what happened and why.
  11. Let's hope we don't find out... I think the young energy in the new coaches will go a long way.
  12. As a private school with their academic reputation, admission standards, the tuition they charge and endowment, not all that surprising.
  13. It prevents a free agent like atmosphere. And the rule protects smaller schools. If somebody is a late bloomer and ends up being a steal for a low or mid-major, not having that rule would give the high-majors open season on those players. Not sure what you mean by the switching divisions thing. If a player transfers in any other sport within their division they have to sit out as well (barring certain waivers by the NCAA). If they move down a division they usually don't have to sit out. Not the case here.
  14. I don't think it should be a surprise that they have access to it, that is pretty common with any employer. The access of it on multiple occasions is somewhat questionable though, depending on who was doing it for what purpose and whether that purpose was actually within the employee's job scope. If they accessed it to fulfill the open records request, is that really all that surprising and would Brescani have to be notified (not sure, actually asking)? A completely different issue if someone was on a fishing expedition though. Regardless, none of the above really explains why 45,000 e-mail all of the sudden disappeared.
  15. Calcaterra will have 2 seasons of eligibility left (2013-2014, 2014-2015) and Tyler will also have two left after redshirting this year (2014-2015, 2015-2016).
  16. A video of when the police showed up at his place of work because he was sending threats to ND legislators (under a fake name of course) would be fun to watch.
  17. I ended up bolting mine to some 2x8's and then using L brackets and some heavy-duty shelf brackets to reinforce the legs with the 2x8's that go flat on the floor.
  18. I had heard (though not confirmed) that they were going to be able to use the "old" new turf for the IPF. I assume they would have been able to get a deal on it similar to what NDSU did and then used for their outdoor practice field.
  19. While I agree there should be something UND related at mid-field, War Memorial Stadium is owned by the U of Wyoming and I would guess they paid for the turf themselves (or through donations to the school). Until UND moves football back to a University owned stadium, they won't have 100% say over everything.
  20. Likely storage until it is ready to go down into the IPF.
  21. This is exactly right. But the "others" also realize that they would take a huge hit $$$ wise and that is the last thing they want as well. Which is why there will be a compromise (kind of like the BCS games were) and the large conferences will get the majority of what they want.
  22. Not if they want to continue to have a majority of home games for their OOC games. And I'm not so certain I would say that UM "dumped" NDSU. The contracts are signed yearly and are not ongoing. Maybe the dates didn't line up.

    2013 season

I know it is just offseason talk, but he would have to sit out a year, meaning he would have 1 year of eligibility left for 2014. Wouldn't be worth for a handful of reasons it in my opinion.
  24. I caught that as well. I would be a little disappointed as that would mean only 5 home games in 2015 and 2017 (will be 5 regardless) and possibly 2014 if UND doesn't schedule a 12th game. I also understand that paying a team a huge chunk of money for a one time game isn't beneficial to the athletic department if attendance doesn't pick up either so the home and homes are necessary and do have the advantage of providing quality opponents. With Lennon at SIU, I am surprised something hasn't been worked out with them.
  25. This is what I have seen reported known OOC schedules (feel free to correct me if I missed anything or messed one up): 2014 (12 games allowed) @ San Jose St (FBS) Robert Morris @Missouri State Open (not required) 2015 @Wyoming Drake Open 2016 @Bowling Green USD Open 2017 @Utah @USD Open 2018 @Washington Missouri St Open Set up nicely so that UND could either pay a team to come in or set up another home and home. Definitely looking for a home game in 2017 though, otherwise a minimum of 5 home games are already scheduled all the way out through 2018. Assuming that a decent buyout was put on Missouri St for the backend of the contract as well. Just for reference of how far out these are scheduled, barring a 6th year medical redshirt, there is no one on this years roster who will play in the 2018 games. The kids being recruited this year and that will sign in the spring will know almost their whole schedule for their career except for 1 game a year (excluding of course any change in the conference schedule).
