I feel bad for those people. All programs have them and the reflect poorly. I'm not going to call out college kids by name, but looking through the Forum there has been a handful that have been in the court section and not mentioned elsewhere. Also, it doesn't pertain to just violations of the law either.

The same as NDSU fans are enjoying it now. No one is naive enough to think UND athletes are not going to get in trouble, the difference is this petition fraud thing won't go away due to the stupidity of those involved. The interesting thing is I've seen a lot more UND incidents reported lately and a lot more NDSU ones go unreported, at least as it relates to current athletes.

Not sure why you need to make everything about you and derail conversations or why I indulge in it, especially considering you never back your statements up... But there was just an article about Matt Greene and his donation. And if you look through the donation list on the Spirit campaign, you'll see a lot of former UND athletes on that list.

Wow is this embarassing...

The fact that there is as much discussion on it as there has been makes me think the B1G has already won the battle. By not playing FCS, they have brought up their SOS in the majority of people's minds whether or not they actually have on paper. Pretty good strategy by them, in people's mind perception becomes reality.

For the amount of trouble the NDSU football team has been in the last few months that hasn't made the newspaper for both team violations and actual violations of the law, I don't think I'd be sitting too high on your pedestal...
-
This I agree with. No comment from Bohl or Taylor is necessary. But to those that think it doesn't reflect on the NDSU athletic department and they won't be associated with this are living in a dream world. You get the bad with the good, you don't get it both ways (again not directed specifically at you).
-
Why is playing time relevant? If he's on the team, he's on the team. Or are you saying that different players should be handled differently based on where they fit into the heirarchy of the team? I could never see that happening...
-
Meh. I agree with you for the most part, but I always see "Once a Bison, Always a Bison" tossed around when talking about the guys who are making positive headlines or getting shots in the NFL at the playing or coaching level. Got to deal with both sides of the equation. UND had a situation where a few former players got in trouble about a year and a half ago and quite a few NDSU backers didn't have a problem making a connection with UND even though they were no longer with UND's program. The amusing thing was that these guys had an oppurtunity for a heck of a second chance with this. Complete their probation and get deferred imposition on something that could seriously jeopardize future job opportunities. Not sure how you don't take care of that is fast as possible. This isn't directed at you, but attacking the messenger is also a pretty sad way to respond to this. Jump up and down and scream about how NDSU is big time and deserves national media attention, etc and then complain when there is bad press that comes in your local newspaper when something like this happens? And then claim she is stalking the players but post her college information and a link to her picture? Who's the stalker? Come on man... Also a little strange that Caillou didn't write the article but a regular reporter did.

Saving money isn't the only reason to join a conference.

You are such a victim.

How it was handled and what the punishment were are separate issues. I probably wouldn't have suspended him, but won't fault UND for their reasoning. Both parties involved thought it was the appropriate punishment. However I agre with you, I don't think the public announcment of the suspension and fallout from that part of it was not handled properly and not really necessary particularly because as you said he immediately apologized and took full responsibility for it, including sending the audio to Faison. That point I believe we agree on.
-
It is tough to argue against what UND did when Ralston is on record for regretting what he did/how the situation was handled and completely in agreeance with the suspension. The Deadspin article gives more insight than what was known before.

Likely took that long for them to get alot of the FOIA documents they requested and then go through them all. I do think it is strange they dug into it that much though. Seems a little tame compared to the investigative things they normally do.
-
Saw that earlier today and read through most of it, intereting stuff. It appears Ralston definitely thought that what he said was inappropriate regardless of what others thought. Also gives an insight into the relationship of the school-hired media, the schools themselves and what can happen when they are brought in house. Very similar situations to colleges across the country as is illustrated by e-mails received from other schools on how it was handled. I thought it was amusing they got e-mails through the FOIA and posted them. I would guess that just gives a small glimpse of the kind of stuff that the AD, SID and coaches have to put up with.

Again, you are here to defend yourself and as far as I can tell, no one has ever publicly called out your name. Anonymously criticizing someone by name who is unaware and can't defend themself is completely different to whatever it is you think you are subject to.
-
You are the one that is constantly bringing up other people's name, good and bad. Not sure if you want people to think you're connected and well known or what (and maybe you are, don't know, don't care), but it is definitely a trend of yours.
-
You're here to defend yourself and encourage the arguments. Hiding behind a screen anonymously arguing with someone is much different than personally calling someone out on something that may or may not be true with them not having a chance to defend themselves.

What conference will the other Dakotas be in 2015?
jdub27 replied to SiouxVolley's topic in NCAA News
I see you didn't have any comments on the state of your women's teams or the newspaper worthy action of a handful of football players. Seems to be quite a bit of attrition going on there. Three players leave in the middle of a playoff run. Another two are kicked off during the winter. Another one quitting because his scholarship was going to be cut for violating team rules. A handful more have been in the paper in the last month. Not much of a story or explanation on any of it though. Strange, buttfootball I guess. -
Is there something out there that would make you bearable?

Yep

Your men's basketball team has had a whopping one confernce title since their transition and your two women's revenue sports are more or less a disaster. Is it true your volleyball team currently has 4 players on their roster? One would think you'd be worried about those instead of the time you spend on UND athletics and judging their programs. And I've seen some of your football players in the newspaper lately but it wasn't in the sports section. I see that Caillou has been all over getting to the bottom of those indiscretions. -

Well none of that would have sounded good in the article he wrote. -

Interesting article by Kolpack in the Forum today. I believe that two of his main points were the MVFC is better than Big Sky (top to bottom) and being in a big conference is bad, there is too much competition for the autobid. Seems a little contradictory that he argues that NDSU likes the MVFC because the conference in stronger and competition is better and then follow that up with the argument that they are better off in a smaller league (Summit) because there is less competition for the autobid. Also, I believe he has his facts wrong on maintaining the basketball autobid though (SiouxVolley?). He said it takes six schools to maintain that autobid (among other requirements). I believe the six school rule is for sports other than basketball. For basketball, seven sponsoring schools are required. Might not seem like a big deal, but when your conference is flirting with that line, it kind of matters. -

At least you can admit it. Just found it kind of humorous that after last year, you were trying to knock down UND. Though hindsight, since we are talking about the Summit, football doesn't apply (which in the grand scheme of things, is actually the reason Summit has a lot of the issues it does).
