He also seems to understand that being charged with resisting arrest for the second time (or "going around the corner for some air" as he called it) isn't going to go over well.

No doubt the aggravated assault charges should have been dropped. But I think it is a pretty big stretch that Beck has all of the sudden become the victim. He didn't leave the restaurant to escape the situation. He wasn't followed into the alley and jumped like some of the faithful are claiming. The other guy said let's take it outside and Beck said OK. That is straight from his mouth. Seems like he was a willing participant in the fight to me. Again, no grounds for aggravated assault charges but he was no "victim" in the indicident.

Regardless of what happens with the resisting arrest charge?

You could very well be right and I wouldn't be surprised. My only thought is that this incident falls under the "violence" category that GT/Bohl have said is unexcusable. The prosecutors did not say he was innnocent, they said they didn't feel they could prove he was guilty of the assault while also proving he wasn't acting in self-defense. Big difference and point being, he was still out drinking and got in a fight at 2 in the morning and then on top of it, resisted arrest, the second time the police have felt the need to charge him with that charge.

Getting in a fight and charged with resisting arrest (still pending at this moment) even without the assault charges? Since it isn't his first offense, I could see a game or two.
-
Aggravated assault charge is dropped as they are not sure they can fully prove he is guilty of aggravated assault while also disproving that he acted in self-defense. Up to the city prosecutor to pursue the resisting arrest charge if they wish and it is still pending and has not been dropped as of the news conference. I don't see them continuing with it, though this the second time he has been charged with that. Still not sure he gets off without some suspension from NDSU being that he was still involved in a fight and it brought a large amount of negative press to NDSU.

No brainer buy if it is at the Betty. Not a chance if it is at the Ralph.

I don't think we will see a huge influx of recruits from out west, I see the staff continuing to focus on the Midwest. But I think that those games out west are attractive to recruits. It will be pretty nice for the coaching staff to go into a living room this summer/fall and say here are a couple games we'll be playing your junior and senior season.

Well there are people already claiming to have seen the video and that Beck was defending himself. Not sure how that would even be possible? I believe the Forum was already denied seeing it as it was part of an ongoing investigation, curious how all these "insiders" have seen it. And how good of the quality is the video and does it include sound (honestly don't know)? As for his attorney stating it was self-defense, what else is he going to say? And I concur on it being interesting on what GT and Bohl do regardless, GT said there was no tolerance for violence. Will there be an exception to the rule this fast?

Also the second time he's been charged with resisting arrest.

All those teams outside of Iowa State are in the B1G and I don't expect to see any of them on the schedule anytime soon due to their new scheduling "theory" so you can wish all you want, but for now, it is out of UND's hands in their ability to play someone you would like to see.

You didn't even dip into lakes's message board.

I think the cupboard was left a lot more bare when Muss took the reins than most people realized. Top that off with going into transition and the nickname issue doesn't lead to a lot of success. I think he has a year or two left to prove himself, especially now that there is no other "excuses" but time is running much shorter.

I agree. The QB play could end up being "fine" but that would be a long way off from what it was last year. I think the QB position could fall from anywhere to below average to excellent, but it is the huge question mark that gives me some reservations on making predictions for the coming year.
-
Not sure if it matters, but the Forum article says it was more than one shot, including Beck saying he hit him more than once.

Even I'm surprised at the amount of spin and justifications that are being thrown out by some FU fans (there are some who are logically thinking as well). I see a few of them have already turned to their favorite tactic of digging up as much dirt on the other party as possible and posting it on the internet making the other party out to be the bad guy regardless of what actually happened. No speculation allowed either, unless of course its a scenario where the FU player is the victim. While I have no inside info or sources, I think the fact that the NDSU player was still in jail as of late yesterday and the other party wasn't charged says a fair amount about the situation.

I think he only had one previous minor but it was coupled with a resisting arrest that was dismissed as part of his plea deal when he pled guilty to the minor.
-
I believe his plan was to come to schools this year and then his girlfriend and child will be joining him next year.
-
I think he'll make it to campus but I think I get where you're coming from. Hoping once he's here he stays. He looks like a good get for UND.
-
I don't think you are going to find many FBS or FCS coaches that are interested in moving to take on a position coach role. The D-2 part of it isn't all that concerning. Both guys are also pretty young. UND's staff has a handful of younger coaches who likely feel like they have something to prove.
-
I would guess UND marketing isn't a huge fan though. Tough to make money on licensing or put your "brand" out there without a nickname and probably one of the main reasons UND will end up with a new one.

They sold them a few years back and I have heard that they planned on selling some again but haven't heard anything concrete.

The Barry Family donated $10 million. For every $3 someone donates, they will match $1. That is where the $40 million comes from. I believe this was part of the $100M goal of the CoBPA that was part of the Spirit campaign.

If you are actually curious, your best bet is to e-mail Dexter Albretch (dexter.k.albrecht@athletics.und.edu). He would provide you with whatever info he can.

I believe it is a project still in the pipeline but at least a couple years down the road. My guess is they want to get the med school, IPF and law school renovations taken care of before they start another major project.
