I agree but for HR purposes, usually there has to be a "formal" interview and those usually can't happen until an application has been submitted. No doubt he was in contact with multiple people before they did or didn't submit their application.

Ian Shields? Was also former OC at Cal Poly. Talk about bringing back a power running game after running the offense at those two schools.
-
Is this a case where it may be posted internally for a period of time before posted externally? In the case of the football coach, it likely wasn't seen as there being any internal candidates. May not be the case for volleyball.

I think it was a very real possibility that it wasn't going to be a "sexy pick" unless Tibesar or Bollinger or someone along those lines would have applied and I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing. At this level, it usually isn't going to be something like that. Faison has proven to have a pretty good eye for hires in the past, lets hope he can do it again.

The only thing I can find recently is that he was an assistant coach at Simon Fraser (Canada) this past year. Not much info on him since he retired from Idaho in 2011. He does have quite a few books on football relating to the offensive side of the ball.

Having a hard time believing this unless it was someone who's application was turned in a while ago. I would assume a formal interview would be required and I doubt that can be done unless an official application has been submitted. But Faison knows the process better than the rest of us and a "formal" interview could be done over the phone.

I think that Andrus should be on that list somewhere. Wouldn't be surprised if Mills or Tuitele got a little bit more of a look. Would like Hoffner to be looked at for OC. Stephen Axman's name hasn't go much play, but he has some Big Sky ties, including head coach of NAU from 1990-1997. Mike Bath appears to be an up-and-comer though much of his experience is with Miami (OH) so not sure on how well he could fill out a staff. But reading about him, he is young, driven and pretty dedicated. Makes my list but would guess he would go back to Miami in heartbeat. Michael Kelly is also intriguing.

Seems to me he would have deeper connections since quite a few people knew Bubba was going to apply, including the Sioux Football Insider guys who referenced it yesterday morning while he provided information quite a while before it came out publicly. And I'm confused are you part of Mafiaman's good ole boys network or do you have your own?

Played at Montana. Was a head coach in NFL Europe, CFL and UFL. He was the OC under Joe Moglia, the former president/CEO of Ameritrade and current head coach of Coastal Carolina, NDSU's opponent this week. He stuck around when they left and was named the head coach. He is pretty intriguing and he fits a lot of the qualifications laid out...

Looking at his criminal record, it looks like he got confused and sent his application to the wrong school....
-
So Bubba's D-II defense under Dale was fine but now it is cramped under him at the FCS level? Not saying Bubba isn't a good candidate, just not at the top of my list.
-
Those two haven't exactly torn it up at SIU. Not sure how much rope they have left at their current job.
-
Sounds like UND has interest in Stanley Dubard out of Bakersfield, CA (RB/OLB) Seems like UND also offered Luke Fiedler out of Orlando, FL (TE/DE)
-
Somewhat agree. Fairly high on the list but not at the top. Will be interesting to see what the afternoon brings.
-
Faison was at New Mexico State whereas Mills was at New Mexico and Mills didn't get to New Mexico until 2012, well after Faison was at UND, so there really is no direct connections. However, he was the DC at New Mexico, Youngstown State, Idaho and Nevada and coached the secondary at Washington for a few years.. Don't know how successful he was at those places, but he is a defensive coach that seems to keep getting hired.
-
Also spent a couple years at UNI before going to FAU. He was only appointed DC in October, so he didn't hold hte position long at FAU. The hockey team does play his alma mater this week though.... Coincidence??
-
Are you expecting to see a few new applications today?
-
If it was an FBS coordinator, I don't think that would be an issue. And there are only 8 FCS teams remaining and I'm not sure if any of those coaches would be it, though maybe there is a coordinator or something?

Your watchmaker/CharliePic/almostheavenin2011 is showing...

Why did you leave out the very next sentence? Too inconvenient for your argument? By that time, Orpik had already stepped up to smoke Eriksson. He stayed low. He kept his skates on the ice and his elbows in. He drove his right shoulder into Eriksson's chest, not Eriksson's head. It could have been a minor penalty for interference because the puck wasn't there, but it wasn't worthy of supplemental discipline. Seriously. It was literally the next sentence from what you cut and pasted. The writer clearly states "the puck wasn't there". Not sure how you can deny that he doesn't think that? Checkmate!
-
Don't care one way or another, but I see a guy leaving his feet and targeting the head, at least from that angle. And while the puck may have been near him, I don't know if he ever saw it coming and he for sure never had control of it. Amusing things about the article you posted: -Slew footing is mentioned -The writer also says that Neal's knee was dirty and he deserved more than 5 games and "he clearly intedned to injure Marchand and that he has a history of this type of thing. Five games wouldn't be enough" -The writer says the puck wasn't there Seems to me you are trying to cherry pick from the article to prove you point while skipping over the parts that are inconvenient for your arguments.
-
Is he close to having a shot at an FBS job anytime soon or would his best bet be to get one at the FCS level?
-
So who's the guy with deep UND ties that the SfI guys referenced this morning? None of the official applicants from today for that bill. They get an inside tip and the application didn't get in today?
-
That's Kolpack's wishlist. Half of those guys are not realistic possibilities and would end up taking a pay cut to come to NDSU. Similar to a few lists that came out shortly after Mussman was let go.

Cal Poly's OC, Saga Tuitele, has applied. I assume his offense comes with him...
