  1. Still have a feeling it will be DoBoer.
  2. I think the Jacks are finally finding their identity without Wolters and bringing in a few new pieces (Larson from UF). Hopefully it doesn't include zone defense.
  3. Miller was mainly a 400/800/1600 runner along with related relays in high school and Chappell mainly ran hurdles and the sprint relays. Probably leads to what you were getting at, but they were different types of runners. Not sure either of them qualified for state in the 100m dash or if they did, they didn't run at the state meet. Edit - Completely blanked on the 2005 state meet, Chappell won the 100m and 200m.
  4. If schools handle the extra games correctly and schedule strong OOC games, it could very easily help bump up the conference RPI.
  5. I agree but that is just my gut feeling at this point.
  6. Was my dark horse candidate as well. Unless there is someone waiting in the wings, I expect DoBoer to get the job.
  7. For what it is worth, the NMU media guide lists the location of those games the same as UND's media guide.
  8. Meh. He said there would be an announcement Wednesday and then by the end of the week. No surprise that his "sources" were wrong on both accounts.
  9. What kind of staff would he be able to put together if the majority of his old staff is still at Montana? Don't think we'd be able to pay more than they are.
  10. Should have been your first bullet point. But yes, looks like a very solid candidate and until now, no one even mentioned him. There are some quality guys that have applied.

    Freshman Class

I believe he had surgery a couple weeks back. No clue what for or how serious. Anyone have any idea?
  12. Can you include Christopher McComas as well? He's the most nationally recognizable candidate as of right now.
  13. Scott Hazelton says he is/was not candidate for NDSU head coaching job. Enjoys being a DC. Surprising, figured if they went outside, he would be the guy, though it may end up not mattering.
  14. Definitely not an NCAA apologist, not a fan of them at all. But they have a long memory. I'm just pointing out that Pflugard has been on the NCAA's radar before as has UND. Not realizing that Pflu's past will play a part into Faison's decision could leave a lot of his supporters disappointed. Also, the poll has no #ChuckThePigskin option. Automatically invalidates it.
  15. Not that it really matters, but it was the first weekend. They won their game first game against #15 Akron but lost to #10 Florida State.
  16. Sounded like Schuler looked good last night. Hopefully he is fully recovered and will play a big part for the rest of the year.
  17. Definitely not all under Pflugard's watch, but the NCAA did find other items as well per ESPN.
  18. If you think that is the only reason Pflugard was let go, then your Griz buddies aren't filling you in. The NCAA found enough issues to suspend him from coaching at game while employed at Weber St, forced Montana to forfeit four scholarships for three years and vacate five wins. And none of that was related to the Johnson case or other incidents with his players. I think Pflu seems like a very good coach. I think his past will prevent him from getting the job. Here's a big difference between comparing him and Hoffner: I don't think anyone was suggesting that Hoffner be named head coach. Pretty sure people were saying that he deserved to be looked at for a coordinator position or something.
  19. And how many coaches have had baggage and turned out to be trainwrecks? How much has Bohl been raked over the coals here and in the media for his handling of situations he has had since being at NDSU. Comparing Hoffner's situation to Pflugard's is ridiculous. The Johnson situation wasn't the only off the field issues the Pflugard had, it was just the most talked about one. Hoffner was falsely charged with something and it basically ruined his life.
  20. I think you continue to under think the baggage that would come with Pflugard. I don't care if it is real or only perceived, it is there and my guess is it will play a large part into Faison's decision. The only reason that people assume they are front runners is because they have heard of them. And yes, the others would have less votes because they people aren't familiar with them and haven't taken the time to actually look up their background. If someone like Brent Pease would have applied, how many votes would he have had on the poll above? The "preseason favorite" list was pretty much a list of coaches with ties to UND or the immediate area. Faison's past hirings doesn't indicate anything that shows he will lean towards someone that fits that bill. Again, I'm not saying that one of those three won't end up being the head coach, but to think that those three are the only options on the list of applicants is short sighted.
  21. Doubtful for a handful of reasons, and especially since he's was a true freshman, he still has his redshirt year left that he can use while he sits out a year. He'll stay FBS.
  22. And you'll be first in line to pretend it doesn't. Football hasn't been mentioned at all, not sure how that became relevant to the discussion all of the sudden especially when the teams haven't went head to head in a decade. But then again, when in doubt #buttfootball.
  23. Tough to take it too seriously when the poll is just made from the three most familiar names from the applicant list. Andrus, Cummings, Dewitt, and Shields plus a few others are very legitimate candidates as are the three listed above. There is a fair chance people may be disappointed if they think the those are the only three candidates with a shot.
  24. Creighton was Drake's head coach. They competed well for not having scholarships.
  25. Very good win for NDSU, not disagreeing on that at all, definitely a game they were the underdog in. But what makes it a "signature win"? I'm honestly curious on how that is defined. Notre Dame isn't even getting a single vote in either of the top 25 polls (Coach's or AP). And the year Notre Dame was a 2 seed, they lost the first weekend, not a real proud moment for them.
