  1. EWU played exceptional the first 10 minutes and last 10 minutes of the game. Unfortunately the middle 20 minutes did them in and then some.
  2. Someone asked about the banner:
  3. Referees letting the Georgetown/EWU game turn into a football game and Georgetown is taking advantage.
  4. When I checked the other day they were sold out but wouldn't hurt to call Scheels Arena to verify.
  5. I guess it could be worse, its not like ESPN getting their supposed media darling's logo incorrect on national TV or anything...
  6. Sure having a good defense in front of you and the style matters but you aren't exactly going out on a limb if you pointed out that Zane has a pretty good D-man corps and strong defensive forwards playing in front of him as well. I guess I couldn't tell you exactly the style Michigan State played but they scored 134 goals in 42 games (3.2 goals/game) and UND currently has 125 goals in 37 games (3.4 goals/game). Its not liked Zane is getting peppered compared to Miller was, less than 2 more shots/game so far through the season. Miller stopped 1,024 out of 1,078 seeing an average of 27.0 shots/game. Zane has stopped 989 out of the 1,061 seeing an average of 28.7/game. Point being, Panzer was more than well deserving, but Miller's numbers were crazy and there was no conspiracy. And as MafiaMan pointed out, if you think Zane should be a Hobey finalist, than its tough to argue that Miller wasn't worthy of winning the award with the numbers he had. I think Zane should be a top 10 finalist. Eichel has the award wrapped up.
  7. The parking lots open something like 5 hours before the game. UND/Scheels Arena have sent e-mails encouraging people to pick up their tickets at the REA if possible because of that exact issue. If you don't have tickets, I'd suggest giving yourself the extra time but guessing a lot of people have picked theirs up as they have had a few weeks to do so, including at the last few home series.
  8. Jack Eichel 20-41-61, +42 as an 18 year old.

    2015 season

Per SFI, Marcus Cheatom has transferred to Mayville.
  10. Just so people remember how ridiculous Miller's numbers were and to put them next to Zane's season in process: Ryan Miller 2000-2001: 31-5-4, 54GA, 10 SO, 1.33 GAA and .950 SV% Zane McIntyre's 2014-2015: 27-7-3, 72 GA, 1 SO, 1.97 GAA and .932 SV%
  11. Not sure how they'd do that once people already picked up tickets though? Unless you brought back your SRO tickets and exchanged them.
  12. If they were purchased through Scheels Arena, it was just short of $85 after all the fees. They have been selling for multiples of that (3-4x) on the secondary market because there are so few available. Stubhub has a handful of completed sales around those price points.
  13. If its similar to football (my guess is that it is), the head coach is allocated a salary pool for assistants and divides it up how they see fit. I don't believe that the pool is necessarily based off of the head coach's salary but is probably some function of it. I thought I recall Bubba taking less money and asking that it be diverted to the assistant's pool when he was hired. Agree very strongly with your second point.
  14. I already clarified that I think Jones is paid appropriately for what he has done and on the flip side, UND has gotten the results that have paid for and invested into the basketball program. Not saying that money always equals winning, but considering UND's basketball budget is currently in the bottom 1/3 of a low-major conference, expecting a finish towards the top every year seems a little disconnected. I'm not talking an increased salary for the current head coach (though a replacement would probably require an increase). Maybe UND could pay their assistants a little better so they don't have to replace the ones that head off to big time schools like USD or take head coaching jobs at lower level schools. If money isn't that big of deal for winning, maybe the hockey team could have cut back on their locker room renovations that was roughly 3 years worth of the basketball team's current budget (I know it was mainly private money, but there are definitely some upgrades at the Betty that could have been paid for with a lot of the same funds and would go a long way in helping improve the atmosphere for MBB and WBB).
  15. Wonder if Jones didn't forego a little bit more of a raise in exchange for an extra year when he signed his last extension, hoping for the chance to renegotiate his deal if he had some success.
  16. Again, not trying to disagree, but you're comparing it to a guy who's salary was almost double UND's entire budget and a school who spent $6.8 million on basketball. My main point being that whether Jones stays or goes, UND needs to put more money into basketball if they want it to be relative. The athletic department appears to have made the commitment to football, now it is time to do the same for basketball. It might require some tough decisions to be made across the department but if that is what it takes, then so be it. A fresh start with a new staff might be the jump start the program needs but at this point, it doesn't appear it is going to happen this offseason. Guess it is time for Jones to prove everyone wrong, the AD right and do something worth cheering about next year.
  17. No, but to pretend it isn't a factor in both performance and expectations isn't correct either. UND can and should be able to be relatively successful and pretty competitive within the Big Sky with the budget they have but I think a 25-30% increase in their budget would do wonders. For example, might help UND keep assistant coaches around longer instead of losing them to places like USD. And just to be clear, this isn't a push for a raise for Jones, giving him more money isn't going to magically flip some switch. His salary is where it is for a reason.
  18. George Mason basketball budget: Just short of $2.8 million and paid their coach around $750K UND basketball budget: Just over $1 million and pays their coach around $100K Not an excuse, but just saying.
  19. Women's team has accepted a post-season bid but have not yet announced which one. GF Herald says its likely Women's Basketball Invitational, which announces its field tonight. Be nice to see them rattle off a couple wins. #buttWBI
  20. I think this might be pretty close but I would guess that Tyler starts at SG over Coleman but I think the 3 spot is the one up for grabs with Hobaugh or Coleman with the inside track unless someone else takes a big jump. Don't see UND starting 3 guys 6'8" or taller (not enough athleticism on defense) and don't think any of the Fr or RFr will start, at least at the beginning of the year.
  21. If there is an instance that Hooker is not in the starting line-up any time in the next two years I'd love to hear it. He should also be playing 32-34 minutes a night without question. He averaged just over 34 this year and almost 36.5 in conference play. He could have used a few more breaks a couple games this year but this is his team the next 2 years.
  22. I originally didn't care for it, but have embraced having Hobaugh play significant minutes. He did it the last two years, don't see that changing next year.
  23. Cringe on clicking on this thread any time its bumped. My guess is that the players you'd really have to worry about transferring are the younger ones who haven't red-shirted (Hooker, Shields, Cashman) as they wouldn't actually lose a year of playing time. Don't see Hooker going anywhere, hoping the other two don't have any plans of leaving, think that those three and Shanks could be fun to watch down low for the next few years. Tyler won't transfer as he only has one year left and would lose it if he transferred. Not sure if de Rouen or Coleman would actually leave but both may have the option to sit out a year and then play their senior year somewhere else if they wanted to and find somewhere to bring them on for only 1 year, don't think either of them have used a red-shirt yet. Edit: As hoopster pointed out, de Rouen used 3 years of eligibility at NMSU and has used 1 year at UND so put him with Tyler in the back for sure category.
  24. I think they are bound and determined to try a neutral site for three years. I think after that experiment is up, they will go back to the home team hosting, I don't think any of the venues that are finalists are going to perform well enough to make them want to continue the neutral site. I'll give the Summit League SDSU/USD fans credit, they very much support the tournament in Sioux Falls. That place will be a morgue if/when those two teams get knocked out early some year. I guess it doesn't really matter as the tickets are sold, but crowd shots will look a little different. Look at the attendance (not the box score number either) for some of the other games that didn't involve those two teams for proof.
  25. Congrats to them on that. I wish UND was dancing but I'm talking Big Sky vs Summit. I'm well aware both are one bid conferences and who the representatives are. Just seems so odd after hearing how the whole Big Sky conference is no good and even the top teams would be middle of the road in the Summit.
