  1. Sounds like I missed an interested halftime show.
  2. I checked and it looked like 4 of the 6 actually started and a fifth on did play the first game. The second game, 5 started and the third and fourth game 5 started and all 6 played (2 of the 6 are pitchers). The two freshman have pitched 22.1 out of 25 innings with a sophomore throwing the other 2.2 innings. Definitely a youth movement. Coach Stevens definitely seems to have one of the more outgoing personalities within the athletic department.
  3. Yeah I agree. Referenced that particular one more for what they did in Italy while they were over there I guess. If Shields, Cashman, Bernstine and possibly Crandall are going to be contributors next year, it will be helpful.
  4. Not sure whether he'll still be playing over there by then. Yep. They get something like 10 extra summer practices plus the games and workouts on the trip. Can do it once every 4 years. Not sure if Italy is the right answer every time due to costs, but definitely something the men's and women's teams need to take advantage of just for the practice time, even if it is just up to Canada. Here's an article on Michigan's Italy trip they took before this season. http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2014/08/06/mens-hoops-set-for-august-italy-exhibition-trip/
  5. With it being a part-time gig, it isn't like there was a whole shelf of new tools to choose from. Not a chance the league could afford to put a full roster of referees and linesman on the payroll and train them the way people want it done. The idea of trying to be a feeder system is intriguing, but again, I think you are going to run into the same issues.
  6. Brekke getting injured played a big part in the issues with big men. Low and mid-majors have to take some risks at that position whether it be undeveloped high school guys or JuCo transfers. Traylor and Salmonson were brought in to replace Mathison and Mitchell, don't think they thought Wilmer would contribute all that much his senior year. I don't think Calceterra gets recruited last year if Brekke doesn't get injured and his status wasn't questionable. I think Nash was a no brainer, guessing Jones had some insight from his Iowa connections on that. Shanks was a no brainer as well Tyler had to sit out a year and bridge the gap and they knew he could score. Both him and Shanks are from the MSP area which helps. Hobaugh transferred as a walk-on, he wanted to get an ATC degree. Not even sure he was recruited. Has earned playing time though. Not 100% sold on the transfers brought in this year though. Guessing the offense needed to come from somewhere especially with them not knowing about Nash. The classes needed to be balanced out a little better at some point as well. If Jones does show some improvements and get an extension, I don't think there'd be much for transfers going forward outside of a big guy here or there or possibly an impact player who wants to transfer back to the area. Though I guess Bernstine is coming in next year but I think UND recruited him out of high school (maybe not?).
  7. Coleman is such a mixed bag. Seems like he does some nice stuff and then a poor shot, bad pass and gets T'd up. Nash's shot was terrible too. That was the kind if thing he had quit doing recently.
  8. So close. Impressive effort to fight to get back in it, just need to get over the hump.
  9. Had it to one. Coleman called for getting pushed. UND at the line down 4.
  10. Heh.
  11. Down to three. Keep it rolling.
  12. Down to 9 halfway through the second.
  13. Liked how Shields played in the first half. Shutting down Wiggins in the second half would probably be a good idea.
  14. Was there a sniper in the stands? What a flop.
  15. Women looking good tonight and doing what they should against Portland State. 46-21 at the half.
  16. Ticket office is supposed to be sending an e-mail out pretty soon with pick-up information. Or at least that is what I was told when I asked about it earlier this week.
  17. I guess my assumption is that he was and he is the first assistant listed anywhere I've seen their full staff listed, which is typically put in order. Maybe they are all considered equal, all three do carry the same title (no associate or senior assistant coaches) or maybe Hansen is the top assistant. I guess I'm not 100% sure either way.
  18. He was talking about Smith. Had the timelines worked out, I think he would have been a good choice here. Interesting side note that I had forgot: USD's top assistant is Gameli Ahelegbe, former assistant coach at UND. Don't know much about their #2 Hansen that 92,96 mentioned.
  19. The club is more clueless than originally thought. As already stated, Smith is making $185K, which is actually less than what he was making at Nebraska. About the only thing that UND could lure him with is a multi-year contract, which South Dakota schools can't offer. Not happening.
  20. Well on the Foundation side, they spent $86K to hire Mayo, who lasted 20 months. They've put together a committee to figure out went wrong and are going to spend $10K on that. Once they figure out went wrong, they plan to form a search committee and spend another $98K or so with a hiring firm. Not to mention the pending lawsuits by a couple former employees. On the audit side, I think DCZ's response was about right. Not the place to pick a fight with the legislators. “Even though nobody welcomes a performance audit, the University of North Dakota Alumni Association and Foundation will not challenge the audit from the state. We firmly believe we follow best practices as they are outlined in the not-for-profit and higher education sectors.”
  21. My personal takes: -Would be likely be one of the top candidates to replace Jones if he was let go. Has done very good things at MSU. -Early returns are impressive, has them playing an ideal system for their personnel right now. Remains to be seen if he's going to run his team into the ground and if they'll have anything left by the end of the season with the 7 man rotation they've been using (almost exactly what FU fans ripped on Nagy for at SDSU a few years ago) and what he'll be able to do without a POY senior point guard who plays 39 minutes a game. So far seems to be a very good hire for Fargo U. -Very much like the guy and respect what he accomplished at UND but he hasn't exactly torn up the the MIAC outside of 1 nice year. -Don't know much about him, have seen him coach a couple times I guess. Coaching high school and running a D-1 program are light years different, but not sure exactly what the comparison is based on.
  22. While I have been generally happy with Midco (prices not withstanding) and their customer service is pretty good, I'm almost not surprised based on my discussions with them on pricing for existing customers.
  23. I've tried that with Midco a few different times and haven't had much success unfortunately. Definitely didn't get anywhere near what I had hoped for. I've talked with others who have ran into the same thing.
  24. I assume that the rate for the first 6 or 12 months? I had a great rate like originally but once that promotional period runs out and you're a customer, there isn't much they'll do for you on the price. Have gotten minor discounts occasionally but nothing that was really worth the time.
  25. Really? I have pretty much that exact setup with Midco and its about $140. One DVR and no other cable boxes with no movie channels or any other add-ons (did just add the Sports/Variety pack a month ago but haven't paid that bill yet).
