  1. Really? That's pretty strange since UND announced in April that they would be paying it to M/W hockey players this year and are actually already making the payments. Well at least we know that Faison offered the courtesy of letting others in the conference know about UND's plans Maybe I missed it, but I don't recall Kolpack having anything similar in his articles about NDSU. Wonder why?
  2. Maybe FargoU should have spent money on a Director of Clock Management instead?
  3. Fixed your first two for accuracy's sake. As for your third, I don't think it has that big of an effect. The rest of the Big Sky is mainly competing against each other and minimally against PAC-12 and MWC, who they weren't typically winning battles against anyway.
  4. Because Rob Port happened to come across a 4-5 month old letter and thought it would be make for a good headline that would generate page views.
  5. I don't know the exact Title IX position UND is in, but scholarship wise, but from what I can tell, UND offered 5 men's S&D scholarships and 11.82 on the women's side. Baseball was at 6.34 and women's hockey was at 18. Ballpark, the S&D teams operating expenses were $314K for men and $452K for women (though I think that includes scholarship costs). Total of $766K. Baseball was around $513K. Women's hockey was a lot... Take these with a grain of salt as they are not all "real" costs as far as I can tell so cutting them doesn't mean that there would be an actual dollar to go towards something else. That being said, there is some merit to them.
  6. Correct me if I'm wrong, but not all of the sports sponsored by the Summit are actually required core sports, correct? I think softball would be the only non-required one in the Big Sky off the top of my head.
  7. Looks to me like the guy is offering to license his logo's out. Not sure he can prevent UND from actually adopting Roughriders as a its mascot nor does it appear that is what the intention of what his letter was.
  8. Sports sponsored by Big Sky: Men's Football MBB Golf Tennis T&F CC Women's WBB Golf Soccer Softball Tennis T&F CC Volleyball UND Sports not sponsored by Big Sky MH WH Baseball M S&D W S&D
  9. I definitely get why Dozier wouldn't have wanted to give up a year or two but I'm not so certain the Twins are going to save much if anything. I guess they know for a fact what Dozier will cost the next 3 years instead of dealing with arbitration but it just seemed like a somewhat poor decision by them. Even Dozier and his agent admitted the deal was not normal.
  10. Can they count and do so securely? Then they are perfectly fine for doing the job they were hired. We are well past the market research stage. Though I did get a chuckle out of the Surveymonkey thing.
  11. I worded it poorly when I said buying out any of his free agency, I should have said getting team options on his first year or two of free agency, which is almost always how those deals go. But the point still stands, why buy out the rest of his arbitration years if you literally gain nothing from it? That is typically the trade off made in those situations, the player gets some security knowing that they have a long-term deal through their arbitration yeras, the team gets the advantage of having a club option on the first year or two of free agency.
  12. You'd think, but the failed to do so with Dozier and skipped out on buying any of his free agency years.
  13. So jokes about head shots and injuries is OK but ankles are off limits. Glad we've cleared that up.
  14. Thought the same thing when it happened. QB goes down to slide and the LB'er put his head down, leading with it. Montana's QB was lucky he slid low enough and to the side and only took a shoulder to his head instead of a helmet.
  15. Hey Dan, here's the actual contract stating that Wyoming holds all TV/video rights since apparently you are having a hard time comprehending it. When you were "seeing stuff" all over the internet you must have missed it, an inadvertent oversight I'm sure.
  16. Game notes were released this morning,. The two-deep looks to be the same as the one posted last week. It also says up to 9 true freshman would be making the trip, though it doesn't say which ones.
  17. The FargoU faithful have already made multiple claims UND was going to play dirty despite zero evidence to back it up. This is only going to exacerbate their preconceived notions. Always the victim, it's never their fault....
  18. The point was, if you're going to put a hobbled QB out there, expect him to see extra pressure. It isn't rocket science, it is game strategy. Kind of like clock management is but by the looks of things, not sure that one has reached FargoU yet.
  19. Great, now we have NDSU fans (or whatever) bringing UND hockey into a football discussion.
  20. Fighting Hawks would be more palatable if it wouldn't have been so ridiculously predictable and common. Some variation on Hawks is used by 28 other 4-year schools, making it the 8th most popular sports team nickname. 9 other schools have moved from a Native American Nickname to some variation of Hawk Chowam Hawks - formerly Braves (2006) Dickinson State Blue Hawks - formerly Savages (1972) IUP Crimson Hawks - formerly Indians (2006) Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks - formerly Indians (2006) Miami RedHawks - formerly Redskins (1997) Ripon Red Hawks - formerly Redmen (1985) Southeast Missouri State Redhawks - formerly Indians and Otahkians (2005) Seattle Redhawks - formerly Chieftains (2000) Stonehill Skyhawks - formerly Chieftains (2005)
  21. Which part of the country are you looking at? Some parts better/more safe than others. As with the majority of foreign countries, stay on the beaten path and you'll be fine. The people there are friendly for the most part and the food is excellent.
  22. Looks like there is a preference to ignore specific signatures and to ignore all signatures. Its in the top right of a person's signature.
  23. The bolded part I do agree with and agree that it is a surprising. I just wanted to point out I know for a fact that since the vote to allow FCOA passed, there has been ongoing, very in-depth discussion regarding how to proceed in all sports. Its a significant commitment that will needed to funded annually. From the outside looking in, my opinion is that it may require a sport or two to be dropped. If that truly is the case, it will not be a move taken lightly and all options will be explored before that step is taken
