Attendance would have been well under 2,000 if UND was playing outdoors last weekend. Weather was miserable. Tailgating almost wasn't fun, but we managed.
-
I wasn't sure what to think of that but I think I agree with your thought process. UND's losses were to both teams were bad, but in completely different ways. I don't see Montana running the table to get to 7 wins and cloud the playoff bubble even more and it would be nice for UND's sake if ISU were to pick up another couple wins.
-
From a selfish perspective, definitely want PSU and Montana State to win to make UND's wins look better.

They screwed up the Biscuits logo by not using bacon strips to dot the i's. I don't think it is real hard to understand why people are going to buy new gear sight unseen: Because it represents the University of North Dakota and that is what is important. No different than the Fighting Sioux name and logo did (hopefully with less controversy), same as the interlocking logo has and will (hopefully with less confusion).

The advantage that Oklahoma and North Carolina fans have (along with the multiple designs and variations of their interlocking letter logos) is that they are unique and not easily confused with one of the most recognizable colleges in the world. No matter how you slice it, that is a fact. UND's interlocking ND will always play second fiddle to and be confused with Notre Dame's interlocking ND. As for the time comment, UND has been using the interlocking logo for quite some time as well, likely over a century depending on what variation you want to look at. Time has nothing to do with it.

The upgraded stadium has been part of the Facilities Master Plan as long as I can remember. While it is more of a "pipe dream" type thing, the way that the HPC was built is very similar to how some of the renderings shows it. I've see a few versions, one with the east grand stands of the stadium going over the top of where the second phase of the HPC is going to be built and another with the field rotating 90 degrees and being a horseshoe. No clue if there has been any updates since the HPC has actually been built though. To your actual question, not sure that UND's website has them listed anywhere (though they are in the middle of a campus wide master plan assessment), but JLG's website has one of a few different versions that have been floating around.

Personally, I'll be buying things with the new logo. Haven't really cared all that much for the interlocking merchandise that has been out there, majority of it is quite uninspiring. It is a nice secondary logo but it doesn't do much to move the needle otherwise. Plus it is always fun when people confuse it with Notre Dame.

The main one being that anyone with an e-mail address on file (valid or not) got counted as an "eligible" vote whether they cared or not. That number would mean a lot more if people had to actively register to vote. If you want some sort of basis for actual active supporters directly of UND athletics instead of some random catch-all number, there were approximately 2,600 Champions Club memberships in 2014-2015, people that donate yearly to UND athletics.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2015-16 season
jdub27 replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
I believe its a 1 game per misconduct after the 2nd one, so for every misconduct he gets from here on out will cost him a game. Usually you get two strikes before being suspended on the third but he got unlucky and got a suspension tacked onto his second misconduct by the league. -
Of course, but they aren't going to do it at the expense of it being a financial drain on the budget. Is there not also an issue with the wording of the NCHC contract that causes issues? I know they've done work to improve but I believe that is another sticking point that has nothing to do with Midco. Regardless, all of it is on the table for upcoming negotiations. I think overall Midco has done a pretty good job between the productions value, adding the extra shows, giving flexibility on games they weren't broadcasting and getting HD a full year before they were required. Obviously always room for improvements but for them paying UND for the rights to do it, its been pretty positive overall.
-
The $200,000/year is straight profit that UND gets. UND taking over wouldn't cost them that $200,000, it would be a lot more. You're discounting the actual costs involved with buying an HD truck (or multiple) along with having to hire a whole new staff to do both the production and advertising. Midco has the ability to spread those costs out among their multiple shows and schools they have the rights to, UND does not. I'm not saying it couldn't be beneficial for UND to take it in house (which remember they have tried in the past and moved on from) but someone offered to pay UND for the right to do something that was costing them money. Ignoring the actual monetary impact would be incredibly short-sighted, especially as the athletic department continues to look for new revenue. If it makes sense to bring it in house, by all means, do it. But if its going to be a financial drain then why not let someone else deal with the headache if they are willing to pay for that right? That also means negotiating the best deal possible for the fans, which with the work they athletic department has went through the past few years to get as many games televised as possible, I'm confident they would do.
-
Knowing multiple CableOne subscribers, I agree with you 100%. Unfortunately, it appears Midco isn't taking the chance and that is the stance they've taken, at least until they are integrated into the Fargo market.
-
Remember when UND used to block a bunch of kicks? What happened to that besides Bellmore graduating? They were pretty much good for one or two a game.
-
They were doing that until Midco handed them $1 million over 5 years to take it over and pay to produce it, at least for the home games. At that point, it was a no brainer on what was more profitable and made more sense for UND to do. On top of that, for the away games, UND would have to negotiate the rights from each hosting team. I'm not sure how profitable it would be for UND to take everything back over again, including buying the necessary equipment and staff, but as the article stated, something they will look into. Midco has been very accommodating for UND in basketball and volleyball, releasing the games they aren't broadcasting. The athletic department has done a ton of hard work to get those games broadcasted on other stations. The student run production has been excellent, exceeded expectations and has given those students great experience and one of the reasons they would even look at bringing games back in house. As for hockey, it has been stated multiple times, but Midco doesn't want to release those because they would then become available to households in Fargo that have CableOne and give people one less reason to switch over to them in a market they are trying to move into. I'm not sure how Big Sky conference games would work if UND were to take everything in house, assuming they would doing some sort of webcasting, which would cross over with Eversports. Tough to ask people to subscribe to a UND only service when all conference games are available streaming elsewhere for free (at least currently).

Credit to the OL and Coach Knauff for working hard and getting things straightened out. Credit the RB's for having great vision and seeing the holes and creases and taking what is there.
-
Their logo also is usually in the bottom to bottom half of any logo rankings because of this.
-
Do you think those people are dumb and can't figure out the difference? I guess I give people a little more credit than you.

Guessing there will be a little bit of a change this year with them moving to Baxter Arena. Previously, most people stayed right by the CenturyLink Center/Old Market area and everything was within walking distance.

Not just this particular thing, but you throw a lot of accusations of conspiracies around. Occam's razor has never applied. Kelley let three names advance because #2 and #3 were incredibly close. From his point of view, he thought that being more inclusive would help what has become an incredibly divisive process. I don't agree with him but I at least understand the point of view even if I think its wrong. If it was a conspiracy, are you also claiming the 116 vote margin was made-up as well? If that is the case, then you're accusing Qualtrics of being in on the whole thing as well, basically putting their reputation at stake. Or was it that once the vote totals were tallied and presented to UND, they decided to completely change course from putting the "fix" in for Sundogs to coming up with a completely new conspiracy of giving Fighting Hawks the leg up. The e-mails sent by people (myself included) expressing their frustration with the change helped them realize the importance of having a majority winner. They fixed a self-created mistake.

Everyone is already so used to Santiago running wild, they aren't even considered highlights anymore. Wanted people to see something different for a change so they showcased Oliveira in the package.

Voted Roughriders again. Not sure how I will vote if it is eliminated. I can't get over my personal opinion on how bad Nodaks is. Think I'd rather vote FH while holding my nose and hope they get a good logo. Can't come up with a logo that "identifies" as Nodaks and as the Fighting Sioux nickname has shown, the logo makes a world of difference.

It's a good thing because if the 2012 game was in WaGrizz, that probably would have topped it. Hanson threw for 660 and Hardin had 333 receiving. UND's secondary actually looked like the better one of the two that game just by default.
