Will UND move out of the 3-4 and into a nickel to help with pass coverage? Does UND have a nickel package?
-
It wasn't a try at anything, I was honestly curious. Reading some of the comments from this summer are all around hilarious, you just happened to make a list and the one you voted for wasn't even in your top 3.
-
Interesting to see the turnaround in a couple of very vocal Nodak supporters. Honestly curious what changed in the last few months.

They match when you see them in person.

Western Illinois on the road to Cedar Falls beat the same team that NDSU squeaked by in Fargo the week before. After the showing NDSU put up last week, I wouldn't mark down any sure wins, especially with a QB that has zero experience. Not saying that their season is even close to over, but pump the brakes a little bit.

Because it isn't the same? Nodaks is the option, not North Dakotans. On top of it, it isn't Grand Forks Nodaks. If you want a true comparison: Texas Tex's sounds as terrible as University of North Dakota Nodaks or the Redundant Redundancies. -

I was more referring to this summer. Not a coincidence that their opinions have been dialed back. -

Their comments on social media throughout this process paints a different picture. -
Yeah, if only UND knew something about setting goals and then surpassing them...

The GM of the arena however did publicly state his opinion on the radio. -
The Herald is really digging deep:

NDSU basketball draws somewhere around 15% of the crowds as football, the support isn't even in the same stratosphere. Again, it isn't a UND specific problem, but pretending it doesn't exist doesn't make it any better. And I think you're misguided on your comments on football or basketball fans. I would venture to guess the majority of those either have season hockey tickets or attend quite a few games. The reverse is nowhere close to true.

NDSU's basketball team has done more than a fair share of winning but the majority of their fan's treat the program like a red-headed stepchild, not to mention some of their very successful women's programs that get zero support. I'm not sure why pointing out that there is a large faction of fans that support one sport and could not care less what happens to rest seems to be such a controversial topic. It is true and it isn't unique to UND other than the team that sees the support happens to be one that in the grand scheme of things is likely either second or even third in terms of exposure that could be brought to UND with sustained success.

I have no issues. I'm just confused that the defense for Nodaks is "Who would ever say University of North Dakota Nodaks". -

Your original question is who would say it. It's the name of the team, so everyone. If you have to think it through, you should probably just stop and move on.. And yes, anyone can say it pretty easily, that doesn't make it sound any less ridiculous. -

Well that would be the official name listed in all programs, print media, etc. Also, the public address announcer at the REA every time the team comes onto the ice. It's funny that the argument is "Who would ever say the full name of the team?" Like no one ever says Alabama Crimson Tide, Oregon Ducks, Minnesota Gophers, etc. -

With the continued confusion with Notre Dame, making the interlocking ND the primary logo would be a terrible mistake. -
Like FargoU fans are concerned with things like voting rules...

Tough to speculate just going off the radio call but UND was trying to run the ball in the second half and Weber was selling out, filling every gap. You'd think that would leave the middle of the field open, but UND tried going there and promptly threw an interception. That's where plays like Studsrud's boot leg would have been helpful. UND's last five drives included three 3-and-outs, a first down followed by a fumble and a turnover on downs. One first down in five drives to end the game when you're up by 11 is how you blow a lead in the fourth quarter for the second consecutive week.

It isn't everyone but as I stated earlier, the comments make it pretty obvious to anyone who reads them.

While I agree with you in principal, USD was the meat of the schedule? Every prediction I heard or read would beg to differ. That was a bad loss. Trust me, I have saw them in back to back weeks.

The Illinois Confederation is referred to as both the Illini or Illiniwek but there is not a specific Illini tribe as the Confederation is made up of a handful of different tribes. Because the name came about a century or so ago, there is no definitive source on where it comes from or what it specifically referred to. Illinois's own website confirms this (see below). Illinois however did use the reasoning you mentioned and the dropping of Chief Illiniwek was the compromise in order to keep the name. When it was developed, did the term "Fighting Illini" refer to Native Americans? The question is open to interpretation. The time period during which the "Fighting Illini" nickname developed coincided with the use of Native American imagery, usually in a romantic style. Therefore, it is not surprising that Native American imagery was sometimes associated with the Stadium Drive campaign and its slogan. Here are some examples. -

Not a real applicable comparison since there is both an Illini and Utes tribe from which the nickname was either partially or directly derived from.
