Those characteristics create polarizing choices. You weren't going to get a committee let alone a huge group of voters to come together a "unique" option. Look at the couple that that almost met the criteria despite the committee process. They were easily the most debated, loved/hated ones. That's how you end up with generic when a group chooses things.

As in Kelley actually said this or that there is a full blown marketing process that needs to be completed as part of the new rebranding and Ben Brien is more than welcome to have his chance to provide input along with other people? This is more than just a single logo, though that will be a big part of it.

Apparently the people have spoken. Voting turnout up again (almost 1K more). A home playoff football game next weekend would go a long way in showing why this process was worth it. Time to move onward and upward and focus energy and resources on positive things. What the athletic teams are called is of little consequence to the support most have for the University of North Dakota.

I'd go with pretty safe bet given how everything has previously went in terms of support and percentages.

SIU would likely require a home/home. With USD and Utah on the schedule, guessing you're going to see a one-time money game along the lines of Drake, Valpo, Robert Morris, etc.

The team played like they were young and still feeling everything out. Wisconsin is a bad match-up for almost anyone and definitely didn't help matters. They don't turnover the ball and give you extra possessions (only 6 last night vs. 17 for UND). UND did get Wisconsin to shoot at a percentage where they could stay in the game, but the second chance points along with missing free throws at the beginning killed them. I'm not sure what was more frustrating, the offensive rebounds given up where no one was in position or the 4-5 that Wisconsin took from right over the top of a UND player who actually was in position. They able to take advantage of UND's lack of depth/height down low in a way most teams won't be able to. Couple of the younger guys looked lost out there, the Kohl Center is a tough game for a first D-1 game. Q didn't have a great game, still not sold on him playing off the ball, but maybe it was just an off night for him. Geno showed some flashes of what he can do but really needs to clean up on the D end, especially the dumb hand checking fouls he got that sent him to the bench. Surprised Cashman didn't see more minutes and UND played Drick at the 5 as much as they did (which obviously didn't help rebounding at all). Was nice to see UND go 9-11 from the line after starting 0-6 The hand checking fouls are going to be a huge adjustment that all teams are going to have to get used to. Sounds like they are going to enforce it full tilt this year unlike two years ago when they gave up about halfway through the season on calling it.

I don't think that playing football is the issue with understanding, it is knee-jerk reactions and instantaneous hot takes instead criticism that at least has some sort of substance to it that is the problem. There are a lot of very smart football people that didn't play or at least play at a very high level and comparatively there is plenty of guys that played in the NFL that wouldn't have a clue on things. On the same level, how much hockey did you play?

I was just curious. Though I do find it amusing that a couple of random, anonymous people on the internet were easily able to sway your vote. To each their own.

I'd argue there is a difference between a preseason 2nd team all-conference player vs. preseason player of the year but regardless, UND knocked off a Summit team with no Loyd among others tonight.

If true, guessing someone within the athletic department either knew something that wasn't public info or not officially decided and told it to the announcers in the pregame meeting.

Everyone is looking like a freshman. Need to calm down.

I thought you were a Nodak then Roughrider guy?

Hold on now. The 2015 Kansas Jayhawks would like to have a talk with you...

When a team not named NDSU beats a weak FBS team?

I, along with probably everyone else on this board, have witnessed and heard stories about athletes from every sport (and regular students too!!) and in my experience, the football players were nowhere near to the top of the list. Not to mention that I'd guess that a majority of students that come to UND are a lot more familiar with football than they are hockey.

The committee took North Dakota off the ballot, Kelley didn't.

If a school wants to host, it has to make a bid of at least the minimum for that round (bids for all rounds were due yesterday): First round – $30,000 Second round – $40,000 Quarterfinals – $50,000 Semifinals – $60,000 Those are the minimum amount the school is guaranteeing the NCAA for hosting. Schools can make bids in excess of those in hopes of getting a game by submitting a projected budget and the NCAA takes 75% of the net receipts of the projections. Other schools in the past have put guaranteed funds into the ticket sales portion in order to boost their bid and get a home game.

Why would they do that when the fix has been in for the sUNDogs since the beginning?
-
It comes down to assignment football. In that situation, I really like the experience of UND's linebackers led by Ratelle. #Area51 #Ratackle

Surprised he doesn't have much for offers. Guessing his height is the issue?

The Wyoming guy that missed the tackle was not happy... Wish I could find the video that had the other view. It made the defensive player look even worse.

The students would probably get a little more freedom if they had something that wasn't vulgar/inappropriate and actually used a little creativity. I, along with many others, aren't going to claim innocence from participating when I was a student but it seems that the only ones that have survived are the worst of the group.
