  1. Which is the rough equivalent to third best in the nation.
  2. Here are UND's road losses this year: Wisconsin - Down by 13 at half, first game of the year FGCU - Decided to quit scoring the last 10 minutes, 3rd game of the year Kansas State - Down 3 at half, KSU pulled away at the beginning of the 2nd half Weber - Down by 12 at half, 6 was the smallest lead in the 2nd half UNC - Largest lead was 4 So for your comment/observations applies to a total of 4 games excluding last night (against a team that is lights out at home), one of which was against a B1G team, another against Big12 team, and third being a team UND had never previously beat until a last week. Guess I just don't see what you're seeing unless it is that UND getting behind better teams makes its harder to win, but that seems like common sense for any team, not UND specific. Winning on the road is tough to do for most teams. Winning on the road is even harder to do when you get down by a few scores. UND could have let last night really snowball out of control and it didn't, this team hopefully learning how to win close games whether it be on the road or at home and I haven't seen anything that looks like lack of effort, regardless of the score (outside of maybe UNI).
  3. Excellent stuff, thank you for posting. I liked SME's proposal. Interesting that the "local" candidate had a cost 3x that of the winner and that is without them having to add any travel expenses.
  4. UND was down 10 to Bradley in the second half and came back to win. I think this team is still learning how to react to different situations and I can say that I haven't seen any sort of "quit" from them even when they go down. Can't say I agree with your assessment.

    2016 Season

Apparently you do since you took the time to respond nonsensically to it. And again, if the teams you play in the playoffs are irrelevant, why all the conspiracy theory stuff coming out of Fargo and the MVFC fan bases on how the bracket was set up?

Are you confused on how regionalization applies in the playoffs? If you actually understood it, you wouldn't be confused on why what he said is pretty spot on. Your comment is a good example of why FargoU and MVFC fans made themselves look silly throwing temper tantrums when the brackets were announced.
  7. Big Sky TV only. They are really good up keeping the schedule on UNDSports.com up-to-date on how games are accessible and where they will be shown.
  8. I bet even they would be in awe with some of the conspiracy theories that have come out of the nickname saga.
  9. Wonder if there isn't some sort of "checkpoint" so to speak coming up on when they need to release the next batch of merchandise to protect the trademarks and figure it makes more sense to do it right now rather than at the same time or shortly after the new logo comes out.
  10. Added bonus from my experience: This draws the ire and dirty looks of both opposing fans and UND fans who have zero sense of humor or tolerance for change.
  11. Feel free to enlighten me, along with everyone else, on what you're trying to get at.
  12. What is the other assumption? They are making minimal money off the licensing of limited edition releases that have a very limited run, so it definitely isn't that. As was previously stated, it has been known since the settlement agreement became public that they had to maintain ownership (which can only be done through use) and that was mandated by the NCAA. UND made it clear how they would do that 2 1/2 years ago when the had the first run of shirts with the geometric logo and press release announcing the Dacotah Legacy Collection.
  13. Very true. Kelley tried to be all-inclusive, inoffensive and make everyone happy to a fault on most things. Anytime he didn't follow that, he got ripped for ramming things down people's throat. All the more reason someone with serious business acumen is a better fit to be the next president. Schafer's in an enviable position and I like how he's using it to his full advantage by taking a hardline on tough decisions with what he feels is the proper amount of input.
  14. Kelly could basically say the same thing and he'd get ripped to shreds for it, it is what it is (look at comments made about moving on with the new nickname for proof). Schafer's playing with house money and honestly, that's probably best thing that could happen for UND right now because of some tough choices that are going to be made. Either he's going to get minimal flack for it or if he does, he won't be here in 5 months, so no skin off his back. It appears he will do more than enough to give the new guy a blank slate to work with. It is on the committee to pick someone who will be able to continue with that momentum.
  15. In the Herald's defense, Wayne did specify "in Grand Forks". On a regional and national scale, the popularity isn't even close to a contest nor would the exposure could be brought to UND from what the basketball team could do. No different than down at FargoU. Their NCAA basketball win was worth way more in exposure than their 5 championships combined but it is obvious which sport is more popular in Fargo.
  16. Before the season, after the overseas trip, it was mentioned that the chemistry this team had was completely different from previous years. Players understood and embraced their roles and were actually buying in. Easy to write something like that off as preseason hype but it appears to have a fair amount of truth behind it. No clue on the exact reason for it, but I still think the transition/conference affiliation/nickname combination had a bigger impact than anyone realized. The staff had to take some chances on some players that were talented but weren't quite the perfect fit and then tried filling some of those holes with transfers that weren't necessarily great fits, compounding the problems (though it almost paid off). Still a ways to go but there is definitely noticeable progress that has been made this season and that is encouraging.
  17. Future Hawk Billy Brown should be at the game.

At least Will Tye (Florida State transfer, current New York Giant) has graduated. He was a dude. 6'3", 260lbs, sub 4.5 40 and he was returning punts. Up there as one of the best all-around athletes to play in the Alerus Center.
  19. I've heard the argument and it has *some* merit, but he still would have had those "freshman jitters" to an extent his first year of playing. I think he got a lot of valuable experience that first year and probably learned a lot about the right and wrong way to be a leader. I also don't think he would have been near as good of a player last year if he had redshirted the 2013-2014 season. All that being said, I wish he had 5 more years of eligibility left, he's fun to watch.
  20. Well yeah but the coaches and local media don't go parading around, making sure every one knows every single offer that their recruits got (plus a few others for good measure) and writing articles about how they are the only team who has other schools come after their verbals. It's funny to see the chest thumping getting kids from schools they claim to be much better than. UND went 3-0 head to head on equal offers against SDSU including a Nebraskajack that decided being an Omahawk was better. Something like 18 or 19 of the kids signed were at UND's camp, the staff saw exactly what they needed to first hand. Seemed to work out well when they signed that Santiago kid who impressed in camp but didn't have any other offers.
  21. Triple double for Hooker. He's not too bad. McBuckets 2.0 was absolutely on fire.
  22. Hell of a first half by McBuckets 2.0. Good defense on Telfair. Nice start to the second half.
  23. Don't tell Kolpack and Izzo! *For the record, I agree with you.
  24. I'm not sure what you're question is? Yes, Minot State has a flat tuition rate, everyone pays the same. They had just under $1.3million in tuition waivers or approximately 9% of all tuition they could have charged at where they have their rates set at. The majority of their tuition waivers were institutional waivers to ND kids.
