It was a real proud moment to watch a bunch of adults of all ages throwing what was the equivalent of a public temper tantrum. "Fighting Sioux Forever"? Not a single player on the team and I would assume at least 95%+ of students in attendance were enrolled the last time UND wore the Fighting Sioux jersey. Will never happen, but playing this song at the first break after people boo would be some Grade A trolling:
-
Turns out he only got activated because third string running back missed curfew and was cut.
-
I would disagree. Definitely heard some Hawk related things and Schlossman's article also referenced it as well, though it was admittedly in the minority. Wouldn't expect anything different, the change will be gradual.

My guess is that the fees the REA gets for people using Ticketma$ter to resell them is pretty minimal (couple bucks a ticket at most). I agree in that I don't think it is a problem, it is probably more of an awareness type thing along with the REA getting tired of taking calls and telling people there isn't any tickets available while having a general idea of how many aren't being used on any given night. While I agree and that is typically how I've done it in the past, there are a lot of people who don't trust craigslist. The Ticket Exchange is 100% guaranteed and more convenient (not having to meet, exchange money, etc), which is important to a lot of people. The one issue I have is that it does not allow you to list your tickets for lower than what the face value is on Ticketmaster, meaning you can't undercut any available tickets that haven't been sold yet, especially if you're looking to get rid of your tickets on short notice. If you're really worried about tickets being used, let people sell them for as little as they want. I will say that the ability to forward your tickets to someone for free is very handy.

I can confirm that he is usually there if the men's team is in town, same as the other coaches.

Someone needs to tell them here is zero chance of an at large bid and quality losses aren't going to help them.
-
Congrats on accomplishing the first step. I'm sure it was tough to admit to.

I think you run into an issue with ND open record laws. Prospective coaches aren't going to apply (or leave their current jobs) while their teams are still playing and likely heading into tournament time giving you almost zero chance you have a new coach in place for when the offseason starts. However (if this is the direction things go) having someone hired by mid to end of April and give them at least a little time to talk and meet with players before the semester is over is important.

Yeah but do you think the Athletic Director is monitoring the men's basketball situation?
-
The state funding issues are more on the horizon than current, the chancellor has already passed on the message to the schools to be prepared for them, which is why my point was that now more than ever, they need to properly manage the budget. And comparing any sort of accounting to NDSU's or its athletic department is funny. The advantage that UND does have is room to make some cuts (even if not popular).

I literally bolded the part where I said criticism is fair game and rightfully deserved, so no, I'm not suggesting that pointing them out is a sin. In fact I welcome actual, thought out criticism and have plenty of my own. However continuously saying "Fire Jones" and accusing people of being his wife (or apparently brother now?) because they point out it is pretty much a reality that Jones will finish out the season is not providing a legitimate response to supposed talking points. On the flip side, the "who cares what it costs, it is easy to spend someone else's money" argument is frustrating as well. There's a difference between not being able to afford something and making proper, thought out decisions because they cost real money. That doesn't mean they can't be questioned but it also requires looking at both sides of the issue, not just the easy, knee-jerk one which is the only one that is often presented. There are legitimate concerns with state funding along with ongoing additional funds the athletic department will need going forward and it is likely going to require some uncomfortable decisions. These are real, material things. They are not excuses, they are realities. It doesn't mean that UND shouldn't have went D-1, it means that now, more than ever, the budget needs to be managed the right way. Of course Faison is monitoring the MBB situation, pretty odd thing to question? If you're that hell-bent on immediate change, gather a group of people together, present the funds to Faison and you and darrell and whomever else can have your new coach whenever you want. I mean LSU managed to come up with $15 million+ in short time, surely a couple hundred grand wouldn't be tough. If not, don't expect any change until the season is over, right, wrong or indifferent.

Considering NDSU played their regular rotation, you can call it whatever you want, they lost to MSUM. Braun/Bjorklund/Wright were juniors so they weren't a young team. Saying it was an exhibition is about as weak of an excuse as there is, it wouldn't hold if it was UND that lost the game nor would I expect it to.

Agreed. Agree for the most part. I thought there were some changes as the Huff/Anderson/Webb class got older (and not necessarily for the better). I thought the problem(s), on and off the court, was a result of the group of players and the chemistry they had, but due to the talent and other things (D-1 transition, nickname, etc), it was something that was what it was. There are glimmers of things that are starting to show up again (boxing out, defense, hustle), though not consistent enough yet. However there still seems to be too much of "just ball" on the offensive end and that definitely remains an issue.

Again, please point me to the people (outside of one or two) who have advocated for an extension, said Jones isn't coaching for his job and will finish out his contract or that there isn't issues. People want a lot of things, and it is a good thing that the fans don't get to make the hard decisions. People wanted Hak fired too. Unfortunately talk is cheap and changes cost money, which doesn't grow on trees especially as the state/Universities face budget cuts and UND has implemented FCOA. LSU boosters want Les Milse gone, they raised $15 million+ in no time to do it. That happens at UND and you can see changes as fast as you want. You forgot to point out NDSU's loss to Moorhead a few years back as a lesser loss as a definitive example something is wrong and a coach should be fired immediately. You really seemed to support the players by jumping all over the team early last night when the game was close but then not saying a word when they got things figured out in the second half. If Waldorf is as bad as you claimed, the players shouldn't have needed any coaching to sleepwalk through the game. So who's fault was the first half? I stand corrected on that, my apologies.
-
Too busy to comment when things finally started going as they should have? You know that D2 and NAIA aren't the same right? Regardless of competition, I'm glad to see that something significant changed in the second half, aren't you? I could honestly care less what Bradley or NDSU is thinking, I hope they do think UND is terrible and don't bother preparing. UND has a lot of good parts, it is up to the coaching staff to figure out how to get them to work together. The second half last night was at least a step in the right direction, regardless of who the opponent was. Outside of one or maybe two posters, I don't think these "supporters" you claim to exist are what they are. I definitely haven't seen anyone say that Jones should get an extension. I'm not even sure that I've seen anyone say that Jones isn't coaching for his job and is in no danger of not finishing out his contract. I don't think there is anyone who won't or hasn't admitted that there is issues that need to be addressed and sooner than later or the season is going to end not well and early (though early struggles aren't a huge surprise considering the scoring that needed to be replaced and that it was being done with young players, again, which falls on the coach and is valid criticism). However, it does get tiresome of seeing a handful of people who seem to get some sick perversion out of the team struggling so they can be "right" and say "I told you so". Criticism is more than fair game and rightfully deserved but when it is nothing but the same old repetitive stuff and knee jerk reactions that provide zero insight on the problem(s), it comes off the wrong way.

I kind of like this one, stands out more than the black one. Personally, still a little busy for but I like the premise. Try uploading it to http://imgur.com/ and posting the link, would really like to see what it looks like with the proper green. Free upload and it should keep the colors correct.

Took me a minute to figure out why that name was so familiar. Back to back games against former players turned assistant coaches, kind of neat. Serious question, do you have any actual analysis of the game or just hot takes with no substance? I mean I get it, terrible first half followed by a very much improved second half but still, even a little deductive reasoning or something would be nice.
-
That escalated quickly.....

So is the understanding that NDSU struggles to get research dollars when they actually have to go after competitive grants instead relying on the non-competitive ones they get from being a land-grant? I guess they should probably give out more tuition waivers to grad students, that seems like it would solve the problem and boost enrollment all at once!
-
I have seen absolutely zero indication of that being a remote possibility at this point.
-
Considering he'll likely be the head coach until March? Very likely. A bad performance on December 11th would probably be good for 10-15 pages itself.
-
While I mostly agree with the first part based on past history, I can't say I agree with the second part. While they likely could not care less about what is going on in some random thread on the internet, they are most definitely aware of the same things that fans are and being discussed here. If they were not, there wouldn't be a concern about whether he would be let go or not in March since he has another year remaining on his contract.
-
I agree but unfortunately their page clicks are likely showing a different story. It has been the gift that has kept on giving for the local media.

I'm hoping whoever takes over at the center position puts in the time that Boas did. On the surface, he might not have seemed to be the most talented or look like the most physical guy on the roster, but my understanding is he put in a lot of work to get and keep the center job, particularly on the line calls which is a very underrated part of a center's responsibilities. The way holes were opening up and protection was holding, it appears he was doing a helluva job getting the line into the right calls. Very important that continues.
