  1. This is incorrect. Contributions are broken out separately. The ticket revenues reported is gross dollar amount of tickets sold. You are correct that UND contracts out those services to the REA but it comes with an agreement that splits the ticket revenue.
  2. Williams main duty was basketball and football operations. She may have had some knowledge of the TV contracts but Mark Rudner oversees the majority of the TV stuff for the B1G.
  3. Close. They said they were still going to spend the money, just not this (budget) year.
  4. ASU currently has no concrete plans for an arena outside of their current home which seats ~750 people. Guessing that needs to be figured out before the NCHC would make anything official.
  5. Big Sky hires B1G associate commissioner Andrea Williams as their new commissioner.
  6. You're reading those contracts different than everyone else. Even the LSU contract, the only one that actually addresses the possibility of them being in the FCS, allows it to be cancelled by either party with no penalty. Idaho moving to FCS isn't a breach of contract. It is entirely possible (and likely in a few cases) that there will be mutual agreements that either cancel the contracts or amend the dollar amounts, but I have zero clue how you can come up with it costing Idaho $7 million.
  7. Turns out someone was already on that. Looks like the majority don't have any sort of FBS/FCS stipulation and there are a few that leave it up to interpretation on conference scheduling (outside of LSU, who definitely accounted for it)
  8. Do you actually think he took the time to ask anyone or just wrote what sounded best? Though it is possible he was give the "nothing to see here" treatment, the way the article was written makes it seem like he had whatever point he was trying to make figured out before going back and filling in the blanks with whatever narrative was needed.
  9. So with UND going above and beyond (for various reasons), is it just going to be easier to manage the next round of cuts or will they be given any leeway because they trimmed beyond what was required in this round?
  10. That and the portion of their research that was under the UNL governance skewed too heavily towards non-competitive research for the AAU's liking.
  11. I'm not going to bother to start a new topic, but how often do the students from FargoU write about UND in their student newspaper? Because I have little to no interest, I don't read it, but this is the second time in as many weeks that I've heard about articles written about UND in the Spectrum. Both articles appear to be mind-numbingly dumb but this crosses into some pretty serious accusations. http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/region/4020009-700-copies-ndsu-paper-und-fraternity-accusations-it-disappear
  12. Just to balance both sides, Idaho was, at least in the last month, looking for other avenues and may or may not be done pursuing them. It is zero secret there is a void in the western half of the US for another mid-level football conference. How, when or if that is filled is obviously still up in the air and likely will be for a while. However, for right now I fully believe Idaho belongs at the FCS level and should stay there unless there is some movement by the P5.
  13. The first two comments are what started the whole thing. Do you see any slight towards Mays in geaux_sioux's comments? Because I don't but in a continued quest to defend the FargoU name on the internet and make sure to feel slighted, a known troll jumped in with a comment. I think they are actually a pretty good comparison, height challenged LB's from small schools and I've seen the comment more than once. Mays is probably 1-2" taller but Ratelle's pro day numbers were actually quite a bit better than Mays: 40 time: 4.54 vs. 4.7 or 4.87 (depending on which source you use) Bench: 36 vs. 21 Broad Jump: 9'10" vs. 9'3" Vertical Jump: 36" vs. 33 1/2"
  14. Installation on two of them starts in May and will be ready for next season.
  15. Yeah, Joe Chapman was the epitome of leadership....
  16. Pretty good example of what kind of kids UND currently has in their locker room and leading the team:
  17. Hell of a gesture by a fellow athlete:
  18. Hell of a gesture:
  19. Last year it was $10,132.
  20. Don't disagree with any of that. However I'd guess some of the spaces currently being occupied aren't ideal and unfortunately I doubt the usage ratio that is used isn't likely going to differentiate on how "usable" a space is, just whether or not it is being used. If that is the case, makes sense to move whatever you can into the old med school and take the buildings you can offline.
  21. You definitely planned that right, the dues for the seats right below you is $2,750/seat (!!). That's quite the jump in price to go up one less step. No argument on any of that, but at what donation level are those would-be season ticket holders interested in joining? Will be interesting to see. UND has had a similar situation in the REA for quite a few years. People are interested in season tickets until they see what donation level they need to be at to get how many tickets or the location they want. You repeated the excuse the athletic department came up with after the students called them out on the carpet. It may be part of it but it is nowhere near the whole story. That's not just my opinion, that is what I've been told by people with a vested interest in NDSU and their athletic programs. I work with a lot of different businesses, if costs of any kind (travel) jump unexpectedly by 2-3x (only 2 years into a 5 year agreement) with no material reason (changes in opponents/conferences/etc), than whoever is planning the travel or doing the budgeting should be fired.
  22. Did the travel costs increase or did the money they got from the school that was "allocated" for travel costs decrease so they went to the students to help make it up? Because travel costs don't almost triple in just 2 years... Are they going to use all that extra money to finally pay off the last $1.4 million for locker/office renovations from a decade ago the NDSU Foundation has been carrying? How about that big shortfall in SHAC fundraising or did they cut out enough stuff and recycle enough bleachers to get that taken care of?
  23. There was a $5 million projected budget shortfall due to the legislature capping the tuition increases, causing the revenue side of the model to be shorter than projected, not an actual deficit. Big difference, but I wouldn't expect you to understand. UND already addressed that and is now taking actual steps to address the mandated cuts plus some instead of delaying the inevitable (all without playing PR games in the media with child care facilities). Schafer is doing what should be done at every school within NDUS, UND being no exception.
  24. Yes, unfortunately. Not sure how he typed it with a straight face. On a semi-related note, the GFH had a really good Q&A with Schafer on the budget issues, going a little more in-depth on some of the decisions and why they were made.
  25. Remember, you're talking to someone who went to a school were budgets and projections obviously aren't taught. When are the final proposals due for the mandated cuts? UND has been very open and upfront about what they are planning on doing, not so much for other NDUS schools outside of delaying funding, hiring freezes and kicking the can down the road. Very curious to see where the NDSU athletic department is trimming their budget since, as you noted, the students obviously foiled plan A.
