The same type of comments were made about Ralph and the nickname. Then Earl Strinden came out and said the complete opposite. Again, anyone who says they know exactly what someone who is no longer alive would have done isn't speaking in facts, they are stating their opinion. We aren't going to agree on it. You think that high school kids should have priority over UND in the REA, I don't agree. The management at the REA didn't either and the NDHSAA was fine with the accommodations made. It wasn't the first time it has happened yet somehow its the end of the world this time around not to mention many other state championships are played early in the morning.

Good one. NDSU still has around $1.5 million left to be raised/paid for from the Fargodome coach's offices and locker room renovations done in 2004 that the NDSU Foundation had to take out bonds on.

It's a UND facility, they have priority (technically private but the priority thing stands). It was set up that way intentionally, not sure why that is a hard concept to understand. Almost if not all of these other facilities are public facilities, big difference. A lot of people seem to think they know how someone isn't around any more would think, I'll take your comments with a grain of salt. As for practice, I'd guess the women's hockey team has class at 10 am, because you know, student-athletes and stuff. I didn't dismiss class for the high school kids because it didn't matter, Grand Forks didn't have school and any schools that did, would have traveled that morning or the night before, it would have had zero effect on the amount of classes they attended. I hope that Grand Forks keeps it, next year's Fargo numbers will tell the story. I'm just pointing out that if the numbers are important, than they need to improve in Grand Forks or fall off in Fargo. Do suite holders in Scheels Arena get tickets? Not as big of a number but if you're going to use it an excuse for one, then make sure you apply it to the other.

Are private donations now a code word for student fees?

I'm sure coaches in all the other sports have opinions too but I'm not sure how that matters because it doesn't change the fact that the start times are what they are. However, considering the teams aren't staying over night, that dampens the economic impact that people are putting out there. And as I proved (despite your instance it had never happened), this isn't the first time the tournament has been set up like this, nor is it the first time there have been games at the times they were at, across the board during all rounds. However, I'm sure that Idalski and Faison were happy with the way the weekend turned out, so that is a positive. As to your comment about what Kevin Fee has to say, again, I'll differ to the management team at the Ralph who's job is to run the arena in a way Ralph would approve and report to a board of directors who ensure that. If it is imperative that Grand Forks keep the tournament maybe the REA isn't the correct venue for it and if the NDHSAA is bent on making the most money, maybe Grand Forks isn't the correct location because it becomes a pretty tough argument to permanently have it in Grand Forks if the gate is that much larger in Fargo.
-
Just curious, did you attend the tournament this weekend?

Just want to point out that even Ben Brien was aware of this as his mock-up doesn't have the headdress look.

NDSU had someone give them half the money for the first three years and they still don't have the rest of the money raised nor have they publicly stated how they will be raising it. You think you'd be more concerned about that.
-
You didn't pass along anything with any substance, thanks for playing though. But feel free to keep pretending you have all the insider info but not providing a single fact that would actual back that up, it obviously makes you feel good about yourself despite looking ridiculous to everyone else. So far the hard hitting information you've "passed along" has been you know a guy who claims UND Is broke because he didn't get paid when he thought he should and NDSU has things going on behind the scenes they apparently can't share with the people they are asking more money for. Real solid intel Sherlock.
-
You sure are good at sharing completely vague and BS reasoning with zero actual substance or providing any actual insight. Thanks for stopping by, come back soon!

Q being Q. Wow.

Different day, different refs, same clown show. You'd think they were being paid by the foul.

Little bit of a difference between scoring well from the whites at your local CC and Division1 basketball. I've never done either but I know which one I will get closer to doing in my lifetime. Avants works better in certain parts of the offense than Shanks without a doubt, but they both have their spots. On the defensive end, Avants has gotten eaten up by taller guys but fares well against quicker ones, again both have their spots (I'm in no way knocking Avants on this either, he's been a huge surprise to me). The majority of Shanks' issues right now are mental and listening to him talk, he's aware of it. He also has 2+ years left and has plenty of time to figure it out. That's not even bringing up the fact that he is easily one of the best locker room guys on the team.

He dropped 16 on 7-9 shooting in 26 minutes last month. The motion offense UND runs doesn't exactly feature post players, so that doesn't help.
-
UND had been at -265 on Thursday.
-
He definitely needs his confidence back on the offensive end and when it comes, I agree that he'll have a huge game. Despite his struggles, he's still shooting over 50% from the field. On the other end, it seems like there is some agreement between him and refs that he'll get called for two fouls in the first few minutes of a game and at least one of them will be questionable. I thought he played really solid, disciplined defense the second half of the PSU game, staying on his feet and not picking up an unnecessary foul and it was something that was needed because Drick was also in foul trouble and Avants turned his ankle.
-
I was just thinking that unless it is Thursday or Saturday, there isn't a game.
-
You mean the guy who fans want benched despite being top 6 in goals on a team that lacks secondary scoring and the staff trusts the most to take face-offs has replaced the guy who became the fan whipping boy mainly because he got hung out to dry all the time by his defensive partner?
-
How is that spin? You stated there is a lot going on behind the scenes and their presentation was terrible meaning there's really only two options: 1)Either you're full of it and trying to defend the inadequacies they were showing or 2)There really is "a lot going on behind the scenes" and the athletic department representatives willingly and knowingly didn't share the real reasons for their request and instead poorly presented some lame and vague excuses with no substance for why they needed the huge increases 2 years into a 5 year agreement.
-
So your saying they asked for money but knowingly didn't disclose the actual reasons they need it?
-
The explanation were they didn't know their travel costs were going to almost triple but now they need more money 2 years into a 5 year deal. Real quality and in-depth. From the half-ass presentation and lack of actual explanations, it didn't look like the athletic department reps thought the students would pitch a fit about it either.
-
Of course they change year to year depending on where/who you are playing, but they don't just randomly go from $1.4 million (budgeted) to just short of $4 million (projected) in 3 years. Also, the WSB gets travel offsets from the big schools to come play those games, they don't foot the whole bill.
-
The gate was $30,000 higher in Fargo than the previous year in Grand Forks, the cost of the rinks were only $10,000 less. The attendance issue is bigger than the facilities cost issue at this point but the article did state they were working with the REA to bring facilities cost down.

Q was an absolute beast last night, both passing and shooting. His bounce pass that threaded the needle and went over half the court was an absolute thing of beauty. The rest of the team was off last night and he carried them and that's why he's in POY talk. I can only think of one shot he forced, an early heat check fade-away three, other than that it was all within the offense. Can't believe people are knocking him or the team, he stepped up when he needed to, that's what your best players are supposed to do. When they are on, just keep feeding them. 1-11 from 3 pointers outside of Q, not good. Baldwin and McDermott were way off in the first half and their confidence was gone in the second. Officiating was brutal across the board. Players didn't know what to expect. Refs were absolutely clueless. I'd guess close to a dozen uncalled travels both ways. The play where UND sent in a sub, the horn buzzed and then the refs decided to hand the ball to PSU to inbound while everyone stopped to look and see what the horn was about was particularly ridiculous. Didn't have a great view of it but the foul on Q with 10 seconds to go was questionable particularly with Drick trying to call a timeout at the exact same time. Forte is an all-around very solid player for PSU. Not sure why Parson's didn't play much the middle part of the season for them but he was good as well. Overall, UND won a game where they didn't play well outside of one guy. They stayed pretty tough on defense despite the mess on the other end. Nice to see them win one like that instead of letting it slip away. Also want to point out that this is the second game in a row they've been down by more than 5 points at some point and come back to win....

Someone already did by reporting it to NDSU and Bresciani gave them what they wanted with his semi-public acknowledgement and reaction.
