  1. Guessing Anaheim wanted him to develop with them instead of UND. He didn't seem to progress much from last year to this year. UND obviously has a history of developing players but maybe it wasn't working for KT.
  2. Funny how excited and giddy some of their fans were to see this game back on the schedule. Oops.
  3. Numbers are hard. People would be in shock with how bad they actually are. Ignorance is bliss. Take your pick?
  4. Straight from the NCAA report. Again, includes direct costs only, no idea how the unallocated numbers work out for women's hockey or any sport. Not doubting that the number is higher, that's just what is directly attributed.
  5. I don't disagree and I'm sure their are unallocated costs that would obviously go down if it were cut, similar to all sports, whatever that amount may be. Just putting out the concrete numbers.
  6. NDSU tried to solve part of their shortfall by raising student fees for athletics but were rejected. The narrative that their athletic department won't be seeing any cuts is pretty amusing because a)they receive a good portion of funding directly from the school which is required to trim their budget and b) it would play pretty poorly if they were somehow exempt for university-wide cuts and academic departments had to shoulder extra burden due to it.
  7. Total all-in direct operating expenses for women's hockey were $1.3 million for 2013-2014, which included $400K in scholarships (higher than normal due to foreign students). Haven't seen any more recent numbers but I don't believe there were any drastic changed.
  8. The athletic department had revenue that was above projections and were able to make some small adjustments to help with the initial shortfall. The program cuts were to help with the permanent cuts.
  9. On to of that, it's possible Anaheim isn't excited with how he didn't really make much of a jump (or even regressed a little) this year and wants to get him in their system. College isn't going to be the one size fits all for development, even with UND's excellent track record.
  10. As unfortunate as it is, I'm glad the athletic department made an official announcement at a press conference and explained the reasoning not to mention doing it ahead when other budget cuts will be announced. Will be interesting to see what the other state school will do to address their required cuts, especially after their first solution of raising student fees failed and they have no extra sports to cut.
  11. I'm leaning towards the amount those sports cost are pretty close to what is needed to cover FCOA. It wouldn't have been hard to shift any cut scholarships from WS&D (~12) to the handful of sports that weren't fully funded.
  12. The first one. Kelley extended Faison's contract an additional year before he left, same as he had done every year keeping him on a 5 year deal. His contract goes until 2021. Unfortunate deal but the right choice.
  13. Lot of truth right here.
  14. They were able to do the jersey hallway with all of the historical jerseys. Other than one being in a more public place, the idea behind it doesn't seem all that different.
  15. I'd argue it depended on the team you're talking about. A few years ago the team was about as laid back as they come.
  16. You can't seriously believe this? Hak recruited every single player on this year's team. Hak played many different styles. The fact that people need to take potshots at him is ridiculous.
  17. I was downtown and didn't hear a single mention of FargoU. I'll take your comments with a grain of salt.
  18. Good effort for a Friday, proving you are actually more clueless than everyone already thought.
  19. How in the world do you get the connection between an unlicensed vendor (which is what this picture shows) and UND's athletic department?
  20. It is actually the coaches that continue to shoot down the rule change, not the NCAA. I don't know what power the rules committee has but there have been multiple efforts to get it changed and the votes against it are incredibly in favor to leave it as is.
  21. I guess staying "North Dakota" wouldn't have worked out so well...
  22. Minus having the facilities and budgets permanently in place, even being a second tier sport on some of the campuses. Fan support isn't bad either considering every B1G team was in the top 11 of average attendance.
  23. No it isn't, not even close. I get the point you are trying to make, and I agree the lack of Frozen Four talk is a little strange, but there is zero comparison in those two tournaments, they aren't even in the same universe.
  24. One had offers from Utah State, Drake, Colorado State, UNI, Utah, USC, Nebraska and UND. One has an offer from NDSU. As with most kids that height that go to mid-majors, they obviously both need(ed) work coming out of high school. However, there is clearly a difference in what college coaches are seeing in terms of potential. Just like everything else, recruiting is a crapshoot, only time will tell how it pans out (for both players).
  25. Pretty sure all Champions Club members will get an e-mail with the presale code.
