So you mean people who's livelihood (business owners) or quality of life (current residents) that would most directly be affected by what happens to the park are in favor of developing it? Seems like a good reason to "Vote No to Grow". Maybe, maybe not on saving Amazing Grains, but there is absolutely zero argument that those extra people would have helped them out.

Yes, because he's never been one to use hyperbole, which is exactly what he's doing by claiming the other side is "hinting" at something. As for his actual point, I'd love to hear how a park is better for economic development than someone that wants to put up a $10+ million building? I have quite a bit of confidence that the development of that lot will lead to at least one or two other very good things for downtown. Seriously? Comparing Central Park to a pocket park that was an eyesore for how many years and rarely gets used? Again, there are currently 4 pocket parks on that same block with Town Square on the adjacent block not to mention the Greenway a whopping 2 blocks away. Does NYC have 20% of each block dedicated to parks? I'm not sure where you get the idea that it is the people who would benefit from the condos being the direct beneficiaries. In fact, I'm not even sure who is the one that benefits from having the condos there other than maybe the developer? Seems to me that the majority of businesses downtown are in favor of it along with a lot of people who are business owners in town, because they understand how adding something like this downtown is beneficial. I'd be Amazing Grains would have loved another 100 or so people living downtown along with a handful more businesses. You are also completely wrong on the timing of the vote (talk about selling fiction or trying to confuse people). It is being held when it is because of when the petition by those against development submitted it.

Congrats to junior Molli Detloff for earning All-American second team honors by finishing 12th in the hammer through at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

As someone who spends a lot more time downtown than you, I wouldn't go as far to say it is "doing good right now". There are some good things and some not so good ones and there has been a lot of time and effort (mainly from the Downtown Development Association) just to get it where it is but there is still a lot of room for it to get better. As for green space, why exactly does one city block need 4 pocket parks with another huge town square the next block over? It isn't because they are constantly being used and are full all the time. No one (except your hyperbole) is saying that not developing it spells doom, they are saying that someone wanting to invest millions of dollars to offer some mid to upper level housing for people and add more business space is a lot more beneficial for the city than preventing an empty lot from being developed for the next 100 years. Since we're throwing hyperbole out there: The non-development crowd would have you believe that the park itself is the lifeblood of the downtown area and developing it would somehow turn the whole downtown into buildings and concrete.

There are plenty of pocket parks downtown right now (in fact there are 4 just on that block and that doesn't count the Town Square on the corner of 3rd and Demers). If someone wants to stick millions of dollars into bringing more businesses and living space downtown, I think they should be able to. Makes a lot more sense for the taxpayers than turning over the park for $1 to the Park Board to take care of for the next 99 years.

The settlement with the NCAA that backed UND into a no-win situation was signed in 2007, almost a full year before Kelley started. The nickname battle was lost before he stepped foot on campus even if almost everyone failed to realize our accept it at the time. Whether he actually agreed with it or realized it was a lost battle before most is irrelevant (and conjecture at best), he was looking out what would have been best for UND instead of trying to drag it out as long as humanly possible. Turns out he had that one right.

You realize that they only reason he was playing is because the starter, Murray, got injured in warm-ups. While MAF played well, there is absolutely no way to prove that Murray wouldn't have them in the exact same spot. And yet people here have you so far down the road in your love for MAF that you are basically cheering against your favorite team winning the Stanley Cup. .

Jones and his team spend quite a bit of time in the community. The MBB team just won the athletic department's Male Team Community Service Award with almost 400 hours of community service between the 15 players. Just because you might not see them out there doesn't mean they aren't there. Could they be more visible? Possibly but not really their motive. Jones and Bubba have different personalities, it is what it is, but I know there is a ton of mutual respect between the two.

This is strictly your opinion only and not based on any actual facts outside of random cherry picking of numbers that don't actually prove anything. You have nothing but some sort of convoluted logic you have twisted yourself into believing that causes this. If you could realize this, you would be a much happier person, though from an outside observer, the wringer you put yourself through due to inflexibility is an interesting case study in logic.

It's funny you care about something so dumb instead of your favorite team being 3 wins away from another Cup.

Translation: Getting one game a year was an absolute process and NDSU flat out refused to do an annual home and home each year that would have made a ton of sense for each team because their volleyball team has been a dumpster fire and they didn't want to risk getting embarrassed twice. Now the don't have a choice. Looks like a solid home schedule, will be very interested to see what kind of gauntlet Pryor has set up for their away schedule. Guessing he isn't going to shy away from anyone.

Yes, they charge for them upfront and in the event UND didn't host a first round game, you would either get your money back or a credit to your account for the following year. Some time ago, they found it easier to do it that way since UND has hosted in the first round for something like 14 years than it is to try to get season ticket holders to purchase their tickets and figure out what is left in a very short period of time.

To completely ignore it and say there is no way he could lose a game if his team scored 3 goals seems to be a lot more indicative of clueless. It's absolutely hilarious how much of an obsession you have for one player that you'd rather see your favorite team lose if he isn't on the ice so you can feel some sort of vindication thinking you are "right", despite the fact that Murray is well beyond needing to prove himself to anyone because he has more than done that by any objective measure (note - the DaveK eye test does not fall in this category).
-
Hmmmm. How many did he give up in his last start? I feel like it was more than 3....
-
Murray sucks but yet he has had better stats the MAF all year. Keep ignoring actual proven results and instead use your arbitrary claims that can't actually be proven. That seems to be the only way you can justify your obsession of a goalie who had a strong career but is on the downswing and has been passed up by a rising star who already has a Stanley Cup to his name.
-
More or less than Fluery did when he let in 4 of the first 9 shots he faced in game 3?
-
He's got the numbers to back up his decision. You have delusion backing up yours.
-
Strange that he started the majority of their regular season games if he wasn't good enough to start for them.
-
Swing and a miss. You clearly are ignoring where the guy starting tonight had clearly better stats this season than the guy who got absolutely lit up last game.

32-10, 2.41 GAA, .923 SV% 18-10, 3.02 GAA, .909 SV% Oh, and 4GA on 9SA, .556 SV%, 12:52 TOI. You actually sound like a youth hockey parent who is mad their kid isn't getting playing time and can't understand why.

Also not a big secret but: Addresses some of the facilities part of any Title IX questions. Big upgrade for the soccer team, hopefully they can continue to build on what they have been doing.
-
They have moved the Champions Club tent inside for the final regular season home game for a handful of years now. Not positive they have done it every year since, but I know that before the comeback against USD to win the Great West, there was definitely something at Playmakers and that was 2011.

Guess we've located at least one spot where NDSU is cutting funds. Their lame duck volleyball coach, who was already told her contract won't be renewed after this coming season, is leaving to take the head coaching job with Southern Illinois of the MVC. It looks like SIU has consistently had been in the upper half of the conference and had an RPI of 71 this past season, so they are definitely no bottom dweller. Instead of doing a national search now, they are waiting until the end of next season and choosing to put the interim tag on a current assistant coach who's resume includes 2 year's on NDSU's bench and 2 years coaching Fargo high schools (though she is a successful former NDSU player).
