I think they’re a top 20 team, but not top 10. They do have good goaltending and I’d say that has a lot to do with why their record is what it is. They started hot, which helped, and tailed off in the second half.

Are you impressed with them? Because after 6 games I just don’t see it...

They were defensemen. No one thought much of the forwards in this year’s freshman class. Ive actually seen the forwards in next year’s freshman class play, so if I think they’ll help, it’s based on my own observations.

When he committed here that’s what I thought he’d be... for all 4 years.

We can’t gain the zone. Every good power play I’ve seen has quick puck movement and forwards always moving around to try to find space. We’re so predictable. Pass, pass, point shot.

That top line with Danny Kristo, Corban Knight and Brock Nelson helped. That team actually played into a number 1 seed! What a coaching job.

Denver is last in the nation since Christmas.

Cheering for MN would curse the whole thing anyway. If them winning was, for example, our only way in the NCAA’s they’d lose. (Hypothetically) . I base this on prior experiences.

But does DU? They’re just as mediocre offensively as we are. They haven’t scored more than 2 goals versus UND all season.

Out of luck on that one by the sounds of things.

The first thing that crossed our mind in our group as soon as we got to Ferg’s (RIP) after that game was “can you imagine Grand Forks right now?”

Yeah, I think they were en route about an hour ago.

Looks like they’re at Air Force practicing.

From my perspective in the game we won, we spent a lot of time in our defensive zone. Denver had a ton of chances to close the gap on that lead. Made me uneasy the whole game. My seats were in our d-zone for 2 periods so I didn’t think we played well. I know there are others that will agree, but it’s fine if you have a different perspective.

I’m aware of all this. I posted it for anyone who may have some misconceptions about DU being this vastly superior team, when it’s closer to call than one may think.

If they haven’t left already they’re probably in trouble . My work has offices in Denver that have already closed, and some parts of Denver are without power.

UND and DU also had identical winning percentages in NCHC play. UND won one more game. Thank goodness for those 3 extra bonus points they got. Unfortunately for them, there are no more tie games from here on out.

Adams should have been put on the line with Guch and Jones as soon as Mismash went down. They were a line last year that was pretty good when they were together. And now that Mismash is (sort of) back they should just make Guch, Mismash and Adams a line instead of sticking Guch with 7 and 9.

Also to add on to my previous comments on BCHL commits, I’m interested to see what kind of role/progression Ethan Bowen has next season with a lot of Chilliwack’s players moving on to college.

None of the games I’ve seen were high scoring, but it is the playoffs so that’s to be expected. I wasn’t impressed with Penticton’s team at all tbh. Though they lost every game I watched, so I’m sure that has something to do with it. I wasn’t that impressed with Rizzo the first time I saw him, but increased viewings changed my view. Chilliwack is pretty good but they had a really tough time in the first round. I think their top scorer has 5 points. Their top players didn’t produce much in round 1. Blaisdell played pretty well aside from game 1. He was fighting the puck a bit. But both of them pass my eye test.

The margin for error with this team is so thin because we can’t score, and every defensive error/bad goal allowed is magnified. If we could score on average at least 3 goals per game, defensive errors wouldn’t always be the difference between winning and losing games.

I’d say Rizzo reminds me a bit of Rocco Grimaldi, in that he draws a lot of penalties because he’s crafty, and seems to make things happen out of nothing. Berry has compared Blaisdell to Drake Caggiula before and I can definitely see shades of that, in that like Drake he can score goals in multiple ways (net front, tips, has a good shot, pulling out the flashy move once in a while). Entertaining player.

So I have been watching the BCHL playoffs. Penticton was eliminated tonight in game 6 so Rizzo’s season is done. (Note: Rizzo is going to draw a lot of penalties next year so if we could figure out the PP that’d be great. ) Chilliwack (with Blaisdell & Bowen) won their game 7 last night. Blaisdell had a PP goal. (Side note: I watched all 7 games, and I’ve never seen a goalie get run so many times in my life.) Wenatchee (with Murphy Stratton) won their game 7 to advance. Stratton had 4 goals, 4 assists in the opening round. I didnt catch much of this series but hopefully will catch more of round 2.
