I'm not 100% sure but I think the seeds get home field as long as they are the higher seed and the first round games are by bid. If two unseeded teams meet in the quarters or semis it goes back to a bid process. This is how it's been, don't know if they changed it this year or not... Site Determination. If seeded teams are not involved, the committee will determine the host institutions by applying the championship site-selection criteria in Bylaw 31.1.3.2.1. e. If no institution is willing to submit a proposed budget at the current level, the previous round’s minimum financial guarantee will be offered. If seeded teams are not involved, the committee will determine the host institutions by applying the championship site selection criteria in Bylaw 31.1.3.2.1 f. The committee will consider previous crowd-control measures and crowd behavior of the prospective host institution.

I guess this will work itself out by the end of the season, if it goes like I'm afraid it will and the games against EWU, PSU, and NAU get out of hand and UND ends up 3-8 or 4-7 I can't imagine they won't let him go. If they don't release him under that scenario it sends a disturbing message that the leadership is just happy to be in the Big Sky and content to be competitive with the bottom 3 or 4 teams. If they're content to be "that team", I fully endorse getting out the torches and pitchforks and calling out the top brass because the days of 5000 attendance and losing recruiting battles are just around the corner. As far as the buyout of his contract goes, I liken it to a doctor, you have to stop the bleeding before you can fix anything else, and the bleeding isn't necessarily money in this case.

I've been paying to park in the lots close to the REA the last few years but rode the shuttle before that, there is no way I would walk 10 or 15 blocks on some of those cold windy nights, especially if my kids were along. If you have to dress for ice fishing just to get to the arena you better come up with a plan B.
