There's been some exceptions, after the basketball coach who abused his players (Rutgers?) was fired at least one of those kids were allowed to transfer, and there have been other instances of players being allowed to transfer penalty-free to move closer to their families after a death in the family, but it takes a special exemption for an extraordinary event.

This is the only thing I could find on the NCAA website... Q: Can student-athletes transfer without penalties if a coach leaves the program? A: A student-athlete can transfer at any time, subject to the regular transfer rules. Those rules are not waived if a coach leaves a program.

I like Flynn, as soon as Rodgers went down my first thought was getting Flynn back because for whatever reason he plays well for GB...sucks everywhere else but for GB he looks great.

Dave I think they consider it an excessive, dangerous form of tripping. If they do call a slew-foot it is a match penalty, but I bet more times than not players only get called for tripping because it usually happens away from the play and the refs don't see it that well. Here's the video put out by the league on it...

Here is the entry from the NHL Rule Book: Rule 52 – Slew-footing 52.1 Slew-footing - Slew-footing is the act of a player using his leg or foot to knock or kick an opponent’s feet from under him, or pushes an opponent’s upper body backward with an arm or elbow, and at the same time with a forward motion of his leg, knocks or kicks the opponent’s feet from under him, causing him to fall violently to the ice. 52.2 Match Penalty - Any player who is guilty of slew-footing shall be assessed a match penalty. 52.3 Fines and Suspensions - There are no specified fines or suspensions for slew-footing, however, supplementary discipline can be applied by the Commissioner at his discretion (refer to Rule 28).

Actually that's not really a factor, there have been quite a few 'lame-duck' coaches who have coached teams in playoffs/Bowl games after committing to another program. That said, it would probably have to be a coordinator or asst. head coach in this situation because the chances of a HC from a playoff or Bowl team coming to UND are probably not good because they have a good situation where they're at.

Thanks, I noticed the deadline is December 10, that's pretty quick so they must be hoping someone is watching and ready to pounce. I hope they get at least a couple really good prospects. What was Mussman making this year, I see the minimum is 150 but I'm sure for the right guy that could increase? EDIT: Never mind, I figured out it had to be around $120. based on the buyout, so they are at least pricing themselves more in line with others. One thing I hope they do is put an attendance incentive in the contract, I believe that will lead to some proactive action to get butts in the seats.

So...back on topic, what have they announced as far as the coaching search (if anything), I'm a little out of the loop out here?
