  1. Terrific posts jk and Sic. I, for one, think the old logo t-shirts would do the trick.
  2. Picking a few different scenarios, I keep getting us playing Duluth at home. Is this good, bad, or scary as hell?
  3. And if they do... they're probably a little too frigile in the head to play at this level anyway, IMO.
  4. A is excellent B is very good C is average I say C.
  5. Digger for HH? I'd never thought of that before, although I really, really, like it. Who would his main competition be?
  6. Maybe Jeff Kossow is ready to leave the Cooperstown Bible Camp.
  7. Good points, jk... I agree. Although I still say if we'd pull some heads out, we're a contender.
  8. Dave, you are mistaken. In fact, Nirvana is the only group to perform on MTVs unplugged in one solid, uncut, unedited concert. Everyone else from KISS to Neil Young had numerous edits. (hell, Neil Young re-recorded a whole show) To say that their instrumentation and musicianship was all a part of good marketing is simply not true. And this is coming from the biggest Warrant fan you've ever seen. I agree that the mass marketing toward the "Seattle Sound" killed the early 90s heavy metal bands. But to disregard any talent or any music from them because of their good marketing fortune would, IMO, be a mistake. And as far as "drug induced incoherent babbling" goes, Pink Floyd is still considered a legendary rock band. edit: FWIW, I'm going to the Crue!
  9. What's all this "average" talk? Loss of veteren talent? Two players are going to nuke the whole team? Take a good hard look at our roster, and tell me the players are average. They are anything but that. They are some of the most highly recruited and talented hockey players in NCAA hockey. For this team to be average is for this team to underachieve. Yes, I'm spoiled... and yes I'm bitching. It's because we DO have a national contender this year, only their lack of hunger is keeping them from grabbing it. Average my ass. BTW: Yes, Blais had a bare cupboard. Hakstol got the keys to the frickin' restaurant. The two situations can't begin to be compared on a level field.
  10. Yes. Yes he does. One helluva nice guy too.
  11. I'll say this, the team is not getting up for the games. They have no intensity... no fire. Whoever's job it is to instill that ferocity, they are failing. Whether it's Hakstol, the seniors, the captians, or the guy sharpening skates... that is the biggest problem. As far as Hakstol himself is concerned... I just don't know. I don't watch the practices, and I'm not a team member... so far be it from me to chime in on his right and wrongs. That said, I'm tired of the post game cliches, "you have to give them a lot of credit, they worked hard" and blah blah blah. BUll$hit. Tell it like it is, acknowledge that your team's intensity sucks. Maybe that will light a fire under some of the heavy asses out on the ice. Maybe if the coach gets a little fire in his eyes, the team will follow. Not blaming the coaching, but I just don't know what it will take for this group of players to play with some emotion. It's very frustrating to see, especially when you know what these players are capable of. As far as the old REA, you can wish in one hand and crap in another........
  12. Do we really need to start this again?
  13. To be objective and honest... I don't think so.
  14. I started to write, but then I looked and saw that my post was eerily similar to OETKB's. I completely agree. Let me add, that as inconsistent as the first half was, I sincerely believe that this team has the talent to play with, and beat ANY team in the country. If the coaches, captians, seniors, waterboy... WHOEVER... can make this team believe it too, we'll make a helluva run to Columbus.
  15. I have to chuckle at those who gave in to the "You will be able to double your money" marketing scam when these tickets were first sold. Those who shelled out the dough based on this premise are going to be disappointed. As far as the hotels, it seems they made their own bed. They have turned away many customers who were not interested in purchasing a multiple night package, in hopes of landing full occupancy for the duration. They obviously have never heard of the "bird in hand" theory of business.

I also have no first hand experience, but I respectfully disagree. Case in point, Kierah Kimbrough. Maybe the locale played more of a role in her signing, but a championship opportunity never hurts.

Regarding the question of would I be willing to ante up another 25%... yes I would. However, I would do it begrudgingly, and only to maintain my curent seat locations. I'm too damn old to start over again at the end of the list. The main issue for me is what this move will do to our basketball programs, and many of my sentiments echo those of Gene Roebuck. I truly believe that the traditions and success we have come to enjoy (from our Women's program primarily) will be void for a long, long time. Quite possibly, they may never return. I don't think going to I-AA in football is enough of a reparation to watch our basketball teams play the likes of Presentation College. If you cut off your head and stand on it, you're not any taller.
  18. I don't. To me, it's perfectly clear. It's called unequivocal hatred and disdain of an adversary... IMO, a perfectly acceptable practice.
  19. Surprisingly, I found myself picking lots of "2"s for the good guys. That said, I came up with the same result... probably 4th or 5th.
  20. Regarding the LBs... what was the extent of Halstenon's injury towards the end of this season? Wasn't he also injured at the beginning of the year, and was it the same injury? My point being his ability to stay in the rotation often enough to make an impact. He's a very good player when he's healthy, but does he have knee issues? BTW, great post to start the thread UND92,96.
  21. Another great ride this year. Thanks to the coaches and team for another outstanding season.

Rather than go for it on 4th & 1, I would have hoped we made something out of the last 2:30 of the first half, instead of running out the clock. We wasted a precious possession at a time when we were moving the ball on a somewhat shaken Pitt defense. You score to end the half, you take momentum through halftime, and make the opponent and crowd think twice about their confidence. This, IMO, was a missed opportunity to get some points on the board, and swing some momentum our way. Instead, we receive to start the 3rd quarter on an adjusted and rested defense, and we have to start from scratch. (forgive my armchairing)
