I agree... its a concern of mine too. Like Never lost to the Bison states, the experience factor is significant. Let's hope they can just jump in and do a good job, and get better as they gain that precious game experience. We'll see...

I imagine the best in practice that week will get the start.

Very true. The fact is, REA was not built with basketball in mind. Hell, it wasn't even a twinkle in anyone's eye during the design phase. Could it be it was designed for hockey, and hockey only? Hmmmm... I say they should have made The Betty bigger. Then we could have really screwed with home field advantage and played some football games there too. ***Of note, I think The Betty is the right size. My beef is not with the new facility, but the fact that they don't play all of their games there. Sorry, I just can't figure it out.

I hadn't thought about it, but since it is brought up, I guess I haven't seen much either. Around this time last year, they were advertising heavily with the "back on track" campaign. With the season just a couple weeks away, you'd think there'd be more visible media. If season ticket sales are indeed down from last year, they certainly should be advertising, IMO. Kind of disappointing. Who knows, maybe they spent their whole budget on "UND decorations & banners" at the Alerus. But that's a whole different can of worms.

Wasn't he on the roster his second year, although he lost his starting role to KG?

Of recent memory, "the drive" has got to be the best. After all, it included "the play." I'll never forget watching the play in my basement... there were about 15 of us all sitting in chairs and couches when the play started, and when it ended, we were all standing about 3 feet away from the TV, screaming, high fiving, and laughing at the guy who missed the tackle, who was crying like a baby. Simply the best. Last year had so many good moments: The field goal to beat St. Cloud 4th & 1, Digger Sticks him The bobbly 2pt. conversion ... among so many others.

I agree... these posts are off-topic and getting cliche. That being said, we've all probably posted some off-topic stuff here, I know I have. I think a friendly reminder to stay closer to the forums' intention would be more warranted than "he has to go."

Best avatar on the board.

'99-'00 Lots of fun! I only got to see a handful of the 86-87 games, otherwise my vote would maybe be swayed.

Thanks for sharing. I didn't know about this incident... how did it turn out?

I did. And for the record, Blais should've stayed too.

Can they financially meet his terms? After all, they've still got Bondra and Leschyshyn out as unrestricted free agents, (a pair I'm sure they wouldn't mind keeping) and they threw a ton of cash to sign Hasek to his multi-year deal. I don't think a big deal will happen. That being said, maybe Bochenski isn't looking for a lot of money, and just wants to get out of here. PCM: Let's hear the Blais quotes... what did he say?

Wow... I find this one hard to believe, especially after his interview on channel 8 earlier this past spring. It seemed all the stars were aligned for a senior Hobey season. Oh well... reload.

Although it pains me to do so... you can't argue with logic. Property taxes are futz in Grand Forks, and show no signs of slowing down. The Alerus is another straw on the backs of the GF residents. It isn't difficult to understand why the popularity isn't there. There are many who are still ticked about the whole "Aurora" being shoved down their throats. Shot down in flames twice, and passing a third time by a narrow margin? Even Walter Mondale would've had good luck after 3 elections. (Well... maybe not... ) However... that withstanding, I enjoy the events the Alerus has to offer, especially football. Certainly we have one of the most decided home field advantages in D-II football and a growing fan base. The Alerus has made Sioux football an event in Grand Forks, and the people are responding. As far as other events, yes... they need to crap or get off the pot. This constant red ink is an embarrasment for the community, and it's getting old fast. In a nutshell, it's there now, whether we wanted it or not; and it won't succeed without the full support of the community.

I hope the "poor ice" situation has been resolved, considering all the new activity about to take place over the REA ice sheet. You all can throw numbers around, and talk about attendence and blah, blah, blah... but IMO, if they built a basketball arena, play basketball there. Not in the hockey rink.

Good guess. Herald Sicatoka: I thought you'd provide that link. You're slippin'...

Let's not forget the "oh-so-popular" new academic standards... That might be an issue of tension between coaches and admin.

Just a shot in the dark... but I had problems with mine initially, because of the file size. Maybe double check the image file and make sure it meets the criteria. I won't run down the whole roster, but... Bochenski, Murray, Porter I'd like to see Porter with these guys this season. He showed some brilliant moves last year, and might get a shot to play up top. Also, if he takes on the "dish-man role," we might see Murray lighting the bulb even more than we did last season, as he was usually playing as a complement to BB and ZP. Of course, Bo could play the dish-man role too... We've got a great defense, but I hate our power play. It seems like nobody can get a quick release for that first shot from the point. Schneider seems like he wants to play with the puck, Greene isn't a shooter by nature, and Jones is many times too timid with the puck. Who can release this thing? Is Radke noted as a shooter? It's just frustrating watching the penalty killers block shot after shot... hopefully the new offense-minded assistant can get this thing rolling.

No, he won't say that to an affirmative action committee, or to the coaches, or to the athletes. But I'll agree with him, and so will 90 out of 100 people in the community. Soccer at UND is a minor sport.

What's in there? Probably those biased statistics that show without "blending", the 119th is a scratch. 15 out of 40 is not very good odds... no matter how many awards a unit has. Like Sicatoka mentioned, I also view this as a North Dakota issue. If our state can keep the Hooligans, in any way, its a win. Just like I'm secretly hoping SU's move to D-I is a success... it's good for the state. (the previous sentence may not be linked, copied, quoted, or even mentioned without my written permission) Somewhat related: I was at the MAFB recently, and am frequently at the GFAFB. If new/ upgraded infrastructure is any indication, the base near GF might be a little safer when it comes to potential closure. Ryan Bakken for Governor.

So these consultants were hired to make a decision, but when the decision and recommendations came in, the Fargo community ignores them and goes their own way. Carr, Spectrum... it's all just details. 42MM, 120MM... again, just details. (above quotes taken from this [url="http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm?id=62344
