It's funny how this "Spectrum Group" in Virginia can recommend moving the 119th to GFAFB in order to save it's very existence, and somehow it gets translated to GF screwing Fargo. How about they just shut it down completely? Would that be better? Sorry, tony, but I don't see the logic in your post. Many of them already do.

Interesting... Isn't there quite a few of these soldiers that presently reside in the Grand Forks area? While no group wants to be "blended," the fact remains that if these two groups were put together, they would have a much better chance at surviving future rounds of closure. Given a choice of blending or dismantling, I think those men and women in the 119th would choose the former.

I saw the Air National Guard article in yesterday's Herald. I agree, it would be too bad for Fargo, but at the same time would strengthen GFAFB's existence and stature exponentially. The best fighter wing in the world, along with the Warriors of the North. Outstanding!

If the decision has already been made to name Hakstol as the new coach, it could be said that RT did not follow university hiring procedure. He very well could have informally told him the job was his, of course this is against the rules. And now, of course, we get the damage control. Anyway... to answer the question: If I broke that information, I wouldn't give my name either. I don't know anyone who wants to be named as "the person who leaked the UND hockey hiring information which led to Roger Thomas getting his ass in a sling." Even more so if this person is a respected community leader and someone with close ties to the university.

I would have thought they'd put in floor mouted "practice hoops" to avoid the permanent fixture hanging from the ceiling. I suppose set-up and tear-down for practices is easier this way? (no... I don't mean the ones like the kids have where you fill the base with sand or water)

I think you're right. From my best observation, he wanted the best college hockey facility in the world. Nothing more, and more importantly, nothing less. I really don't think he would enjoy watching a basketball game in the main rink. But who am I to say what RE wanted or didn't want... I agree... kind of tacky, IMO.

(paraphrased) IMO, it seems like he would express interest if there was an opening available. At least that was my take on the broadcast... *EDIT Aside...
