You must have only watched the hockey tournaments. March Madness was all about the Fighting Hawks.

CMU got permission from the closest Chippewa tribe to their campus, because their state's AG didn't F' up their NCAA settlement and make the school require two tribal approvals. If UND had to get permission from their closest Sioux tribe, we would still be the Fighting Sioux as Spirit Lake gave approval.

Hopefully this film stays on topic of history and not a slam against the current name/logo. That's all we need is another thing to drive the fanbase apart, even more than it is now.

Are we still doing that home/home with NDSU again this year? It would be great if the South Dakota schools would do that for the last time as non-conference opponents.

True, the only title was in 2005. They have won 4 hockey titles as Knights.

Does it suck because it's not the Fighting Sioux (the best name and logo ever)? I think for some the nickname could be anything except Sioux and they would think it sucks. It happens when generation after generation have been cheering it for 80 years. More time is not the answer after all we had a 3 year cooling off period. Did it help?

Fargo seems to be a hotbed for attracting hockey from the Force, to the NCAA regionals, they could host the newest members of the WCHA...the NDSU Bison.

Is men's golf getting cut? I thought they had money through 2018, but it may go away after that. If true we would have just 7 men's sports compared to 9 for women's. How could they be in title IX violation? NDSU has 8 sports for both men's and women's, and somehow they are compliant when we basically have identical sports except we have hockey and they have wrestling.

Class is what the Lameroux twins need. I don't recall any baseball players whining like a 3 year old on social media when that sport was cut.

It's the fact that the poster went back to 1930 thinking that name change will be that easy compared to changing the name/logo today is laughable. We never had a Flickertails logo and no jerseys ever had the name Flickertails on it. It was an unofficial name. They continued with Nodaks on the uniforms, therefore changing the name to an "official" name like Sioux was very easy. Today you have an official name and official logo, and I don't see it going away. But like you said maybe a secondary Hawk logo could be in the works down the road.
