With the Fill the Ralph campaign and ticket prices basically non-existant and they can only fill half the arena during that campaign, should prove that sport wasn't going to make it, and its the fans not the university that is at fault. Who's to blame for soccer getting less than 100 people to show up? In 2013 was it the university's fault for fans not showing up at the Alerus? No, it was the product on the field. Same thing goes with women's hockey. Without checking the sport is a snore fest.

Just a thought for everyone, I know we are under contract with the Alerus for a few more years, anyone know how much they are charging UND for rent, because with this budget crisis looming and sports cutting, could UND see its way back to a rent free stadium called Memorial Stadium? I know major renovations would have to be done to that place and people would be pissed by paying for that while women's hockey is out, but could it become a reality?

You would think they would be packed with women supporting their sports. Is it due to lack of action? Lack of interest? For myself I have found interest in our volleyball team a few years ago when Hardee really turned that program around, and have supported them more and more. Women's basketball I have always loved going to since the late 80's. I even attended the 1997 National Championship game at the Hyslop, I have never heard that place more loud than that day. I just have no interest in soccer (besides watching my daughter play) and women's hockey (too boring due to lack of action).

I was thinking the same thing. Travel isn't cheap going all over the west coast plus only having 5 home games isn't good. But football does have the second most attended games behind men's hockey, so canning it would be pretty stupid.

Is that 60 mil a year or 60 mil total to keep the program?

It must say something when they show highlights of UND women's hockey all you see is empty seats and maybe 3 people in a whole section.

They do care, too bad its only the NY Rangers and BU/BC (men's only).

Wait until we are both fighting for the Summit League title. Now that UND has been to the dance, both schools will be hungry to represent the state and only one school can have the chance to do that (starting in the fall of 2018). 2003-04 NDSU vs UND attendance: 7,247 in the REA, 5030 at the BSA 2016-17 NDSU vs UND attendance: 2428 at the Betty and 5022 at the Scheels Center UND has never played a conference game against NDSU in the Betty.

I guess thats almost 1/4 of the people that attends women's hockey.
