I agree, some of his antics were over the line sometimes. However since he played for the Sioux we put up with it and often overlooked it. I agree that if he was a Goofer we would have been bashing him a lot.

We knew the freshman coming in this year were going to be slower to adjust to this level than Oshie, Toews, and Duncan last year. From what I have seen Vande Velde, Zajac, and Forney are not the greatest of skaters. They all have potential but will take longer to develop. This team is going to be a work in progress. A lot of talent that was heavily depended on is gone. Mankato is always pesky so if the boys don't bring their top end game, we may not like the results.

Hard to say how this weekend will go. The Sioux need some guys to step up and score some goals. The freshman don't look like they are going to contribute a whole lot offensively this year. I know it is still early but this team does not have the fire power that we are used to seeing. Other than the top line there really are no other forwards on the team that are really have a lot of offensive talent. Kozek was one player I was counting on to step up this year and so far he is stuck on zero goals. If the Sioux are going to have a good year they will need the bottom three lines to chip in some goals. Hopefully this weekend will put a real chip on their shoulder and they can go into Mankato and play well.

I hope his injury problems don't prove to be chronic. That would be a shame if that was the case as this kid has some good potential.

First goal.........Oshie First freshman goal.......Vandevelde First penalty.........Finley First shot on goal.......Duncan ha ha

Whether or not he is here four years depends on his development. If he develops like Greene and Smaby, needless to say he will not be here four years.

If our top incoming forwards (Vandevelde, Forney and Zajac) can reach 10 goals that has to be considered a great freshman season for any of those three. I think Vandevelde is the most likely to reach that mark but we shall see. Look at Wheeler the #5 pick in the draft.....he barely reached 10 goals as a frosh. Anything beyond 10 goals as a frosh has to be considered a great freshman season. That being said no one expected Oshie to blow up like he did last year. So ya never know.
-
I don't see Martens getting ice time either.....Miller needed to get a lot stronger. We shall see if he is stronger on the puck this year.
-
C- Porter A- Fabian A- Radke (he needs to step it up a couple levels this year- maybe wearing a letter will drive him)
-
This year's class does not have the star power of last year's but the players coming in are much more likely to be around as seniors and be pretty good players as juniors and seniors
-
Toews Oshie Duncan Porter Kozek Okposo Goligoski That's how I see it
-
I will agree with that.....although Finley may develop into a punishing defenseman. The rest of the d-corps will not be all that physical. Jones plays with a mean streak but is a bit undersized.
-
The Goofs bow down to Holy Cross and Wisconsin wins the national title.....not a bad college career for the golden one
-
It should be interesting to see how Forney does at camp. We will need him to produce this year. Oshie, Toews, Kozek, Duncan, and Porter will probably be 5 of the forwards on the top two lines. Leaving one open spot. Could Forney step into that void?? There is no one that really sticks out for that spot.
-
That is more than a given.....we are very fortunate to see him as a sophmore.....I had my doubts he would be back but was more than happy to be wrong.
-
Oshie and Toews should each get close to 30 goals next year......that is a good start for the offense.
-
No doubt the team will play hard. All Sioux teams do. If some of the new guys can have an impact and the returning players can step it up a notch or two then it may be a good season. There is a lot of talent and more importantly experience to replace.
-
We need some recruits for 07-08....the roster is going to get pretty thin after we lose Toews, Lee, Oshie and who knows who else after next season.
-
Yeah, I know he had a 4.0 at least one semester.......He will be one of the main leaders next year for sure. I say he hits the 10 goal mark next year.
-
Fabian was not a walk on................
-
Hopefully Okposo will have a season more similar to the one Wheeler had as a freshman. Although I do think in reality he will be much better than Wheeler as a freshman. Especially as well as he played in the USHL.
-
Hopefully he will be ready to go when the puck drops. His leadership will be needed. I think he will wear an A, with Porter as captain
-
Hard to say........I don't know that I would necessarily view it as good news. I am still holding out some hope on Toews........but not a whole lot
-
I think it was a combination of the "jersey pop" and Kessel's me first attitude. Plus UPChucko already had Calgary on his mind. Along with lucia Pet's third place game preperation. All that leads to "HOLY COW"....and the Goofers skating off the ice with their heads down while the Sioux fans taunt them. Man that was great to witness in person!!
