He would not be captain. I think Porter will be captain. Although it probably doesn't matter as the chances are very likely he will be wearing a different Indian Head logo next year.
-
Commie will not be bringing the cup to the Forks.
-
mostly unfortunately!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, but we were replacing those guys with top end talent. This year's recruiting class does not have that star power. Some of the guys may develop into good college players, but I don't think any of the incoming freshman are going to put up huge numbers as a freshman. There is no one on the roster that can fill the shoes of Toews. If he leaves the only dominant forward we have is Oshie. Compare that to last year's team and the depth is just not there.
-
I would say there is little chance Toews is back next year. That loss would really put a rubber stamp on a very long offseason. If we lose Toews in my opinion we are in for a very mediocre year. The coaches are really going to have their work cut out for them.
-
Yeah the loss of Chucko actually probably makes the Goofs a better team. I was not impressed with him. He just didn't seem to adjust to the college game. Now hopefully Kessel and EJ sign so the Goofs can feel some pain.
-
Yeah Commie has carved out a pretty nice career for himself. That must just be an awesome feeling to hold that cup when you know how hard you have worked to get it.

The question is how will the cheating incident affect their status if at all? Not sure, but obviously opposing fans will be all over it.

Commodore looked more like a guy out of an 80's rock band than a hockey player with that 'fro. Man that is hilarious. -
There is a limit to how many top end guys you can lose and expect their roles to be filled by lesser players. Yes, you may have some diamonds in the rough that have better seasons than expected. We need Toews to balance things out so opposing teams cannot focus all their attention on one player (Oshie). Having both of them would allow us to have two balanced lines as I would expect they would play on seperate lines.
-
It would probably be the difference in being able to make the tourney again and not making it. This team cannot afford to lose Toews.
-
I'll take Zajac's spot at center. Problem is I can't skate backwards only forward. Oh well, I'll improvise. I think I can do OK on draws though.
-
I wouldn't doubt that..........I wouldn't put anything past this "inept" administration. What a bunch of idiots.
-
Who cares.....I am sure we can field a competetive team with the posters on this site. I am sure the coaches will be posting the tryout schedule come August after this "offseason".
-
Based on the article if the team that drafts him wants him to sign immediately he will be gone. I would say that there is a better than 50/50 chance that he will sign. He basically said if the opportunity to sign a contract is there, he will do so. He will more than likely be added to the list of early departures. Hopefully if that happens Johnson and Kesshole will follow suit. The teams drafting at the top need immediate help and likely will want to get these top guys into their systems immediately.

Parise gone will soon be official as well.......
-
Yeah, those stats certainly do not blow you away. The coaches must see some untapped potential. Too bad about Trupp. I think he could have helped out this year. He seems to have good playmaking ability from all accounts that I have read.

If you read my post I did not say we needed more seniors, I said the team we had last year needed another year of seasoning to have a great shot to hoist a banner. We lost that game due to our defenseman making rookie mistakes and lackluster play by JPAR. It is very rare that a very young team wins a national title. How can you become a veteran team if all your best players consistently leave early? It is the nature of the business and I fully understand that but experience leads to titles and it is difficult to gain that experience if you are consistently filling holes and fielding a young team.
-
That is true but to hang the banner you need a team that is battle tested and if the players are not around long enough to gain that extra cohesion and experience you need to raise the trophy it becomes very difficult to take that last step. Look at the BC game, I was there. Our youth really showed. Another year of experience and put that same team with the same players minus the senior (Prp) and there is no doubt they would probably win. Sometimes it takes an extra year of seasoning and the mass early departures prevent that from happening. I can see recovering from a couple of early departures, but not 5. That becomes very difficult.
-
I agree 100% with that. With this kind of consistent roster turnover it is going to be difficult to hang number #8. I thought we would certainly lose Stafford and Smaby. I did not think we would lose Zajac, Spirko and Parise and who knows who else. Obviously the cupboard is not bare, but with the players we have lost it will be a difficult road to St. Louis next year.
-
Greico is listed at 6'1", that is a lot taller than any goalie we have had in a while. I know nothing about him so any links to articles or insight that anyone has would be appreciated I'm sure by all. Obviously he will start some games next year so he will be depended upon.
-
There is not another team that has come close to losing 5 players. I know what the come back is, you recruit great players and they are likely to leave early. Well last I checked the Badgers won the national title and they have only lost one guy. The best goalie in the NCAA's is still in school. There is just no loyalty at all anymore and as a grad and big Sioux hockey, the Sioux seem to get the worst of it. Last I checked the last time we won the national title was in 2000 and how many top NHL picks did we have....I don't think there was one first rounder on the whole team. But that team had heart and were more interested in winning the national title than where they were drafted and how fast they could jump to the NHL. Just my opinion though..........It is just very frustrating to go from a top national title contender to a team with a lot of holes in a few months. Not that it is unexpected, I am not naive but it is as a fan of the Sioux and not the NHL that leads to my frustration.

Yeah I went there and saw the headline to the article as well. Keep em' comin.....How bout Toews and Oshie now to complete a GREAT offseason!! This has just turned into a joke.........
-
Laaraque is a complete GOON!! Players like that do not even belong in the league. That was a very dirty hit and that player very easily could have had a Bina type injury. I can't stand that goon. Someone needs to whip that guy's ass. Problem is he is like 6'4" and 250 pounds so it is easier said than done. He is a thug on skates.
-
I was there as well and the numerous fans by the Goofer tunnel doing the jersey pop to Irmen as he skated off the ice with his tail between his legs was priceless. No doubt the Sioux fans got the last laugh!!
