Very true...
-
Not a chance that trade would happen even up......Although Blake would look great in a Wild sweater but the Isles would want a lot more than Dupuis
-
Yeah good point...although I wouldn't be surprised to see us get swept.
-
The first half was worthy of a D. No question this team had a poor first half of the season but that is over and done with. Now is the time to turn the page and turn it around.
-
Bottom line, this freshman class has not come close to producing to the standards of this program. I realize we are only half way through the season but to still have our two biggest name recruits both stuck on 0 goals is a big disappointment.
-
VandeVelde and Forney have been disappointments so far and Zajac has gone many games without a goal as well. I did not think that Genoway would be the best freshman out of this class but he has been so far. These guys need to step it up along with Kozek and Watkins if this team is going to make any noise this year. Vande and Forney are goal scorers not checkers and they just are not getting the job done putting the puck in the net. They have had a half season now to adjust to the game, it is time to produce.
-
The minute the season is over he is gone
-
I think some of it has to do with better players around him at the WJT....At UND the focus of the opposition is Toews and Oshie.....on Team Canada pretty much every forward is a threat to score.
-
This team really started to get it together the last few games. Congrats to the USA squad. I am surprised Frazee played as well as he did.
-
Not a chance...the day the season ends he will be gone. Just like what happened with Parise. There was hardly any chance of him staying before he played so well in this tourney. If he has a good game against Russian and Canada wins gold, Toews has a good shot at MVP.
-
Yeah I am sure the squad is quite disappointed. Sounds like they outplayed Canada for much of the game. At least they didn't fold the tent and came back for a chance at a medal. Hopefully they can regroup and win the bronze.
-
I am a die hard Sioux fan...but there is no doubt Okposo is a man among boys even as a freshman. He will probably score at least 25 goals this year and that includes missing games because of this tourney. He has more goals than all of our freshman combined.
-
There is no doubt Toews is a great player. However Okposo has been the best freshman in the country this year and the best forward on the #1 team in the country. I do not see how anyone can be critical of him. Tough loss for the US. I was really hoping they could pull it out and settle the Canadian hockey ego. Must have really been a great game.....I just wish it would have been settled on the ice and not a shoot out.
-
I don't like the shhot out format in a win or go home scenario like this.....the game should be decided in sudden death overtime
-
This will be a much stiffer test to see if this team has turned any type of corner or not. It was great to get two wins last weekend but neither of those two teams were exactly strong competition. St. Lawrence is usually pretty decent but have struggled some this year. It is always tough to win at the World arena with the altitude adjustment and such. It will be a great test to see if we can get the ball rolling for the second half.

The US has just as much talent as Canada. The difference is Canada plays its system better and plays better together as a team. The US needs to limit the mistakes and needless penalties and they will be there at the end. They obviously need to play a lot better than they did in the first game against Canada. Three straight wins should give this team some momentum going into tomorrow. I would love to see the US put an end to Canadas quest for gold. Especially after what happened last year in Vancouver.
-
Nice bounce back by Team USA to win three games in a row like that. Now on to Canada, it will be a tough task with the Canadians rested but they are certainly beatable. The US must play smart hockey and limit the needless penalties. Should be a good game and I think the US will give them a run for their money.
-
Sounds like he is quite a talent.
-
Yeah I would think that would be odd. Although they log a lot of ice time and are both pretty offensive minded. As well as seeing most of the power play minutes from the points.
-
I know they are rivals based on the last Olympics.
-
I think 2 gold medals will suffice. I don't see Canada losing out on the gold this year. Although that is why they play the games.
-
Well let's hope so as this will be his last hurrah. I would put the chances of him playing another year here at less than 1%.
-
Maybe know that he is back 100% healthy he can again play at a dominant level like the end of last year. He has had a subpar first half......no doubt about it. Whatever the reasons.
-
A split here will really not help us much with the hole we have dug. It is very hard to sweep on the road but if there ever was a time to do it this is it. We are desperate for league points. The boys need to find a way to get the job done.
-
There is some truth to that. The Sioux are not nearly as deep at forward this year and that has put a lot of pressure on Toews and Oshie. Plus Toews has had some injury issues in the first half as well. I expect him to pick it up a couple notches in the second half. Last year we had two very dangerous lines. Oshie-Spirko-Zajac and Stafford-Toews-Duncan. This year we just don't have the firepower on that second line to take the pressure off the top line.
