I thought that the MVC was looking at ORU and UT-Arlington for expansion (M. Brown last spring). But, it sounds like it is Murray St, UT-A and UM-KC. I hope it is Murray St. I am kind of a surprised by Murray St and MVC because the rumor was that things got personal during the last expansion go around.

I agree, I think USD has done a great job with facilities and campus improvements. I thought Pres. Abbott really did a nice job of laying the ground work for the University and much of what has recently been completed. Plus, I really like were the SL is right now. They are in the following media markets: MSP, KC, Denver, Tulsa and Omaha. That is an ideal footprint for the conference. But, I think the SL has some work to do to keep those schools. I would like them to be peers with the Horizon, WAC, and MAC. In general, I think the facilities in the conference are smaller but very nice with a handful of schools needing work: USD, NDSU, SDSU (updates started), Omaha, Denver, Tulsa (maybe some freshening up). All very nice UND could use some work to take it up a notch. WIU, KC, St. Thomas - major work So, the next step is getting budgets in place to compete for coaches, assistants, recruiting and other expenses.

I wonder if those numbers included the $700,000 annual debt payment for the Betty. I assume that is was spread across VB, M/W BB. But, it is just a guess. NOTE: The Betty is now paid for and I believe that scholarship dollars are being freed up from the sports cut back in 2017/2018. So, sometime around 2023 all of those obligations would be completed.

And you can see that KC budget is more in line with MVC than TSL. NOTE: Mills have a new contract - I can't find an updated value and STU has D-III numbers. But, I am sure that has changed a great deal. But, I would like to see everyone push toward the $2.5 million area. USD, Omaha and WIU have some work to do. Budget (mil) School Coach Pay Coach 2.53 Denver $180,000 - $200,000 Wulbrun 2.25 Kansas City $350,000 Donlon 2.18 SDSU $275,000 Hendo 2.09 ORU $199,082* Mills 1.94 UND $180,000 Sather 1.72 NDSU $230,000 Richman 1.47 USD $265,000 Lee 1.26 Omaha $180,353 Hansen 1.19 WIU $132,500 Wright $257,302 STU Tauer

Overall I would like the Summit League to push the budgets more toward $2.5 million. This would move them more toward the middle of the pack. Here is a list of conference Avg Budget and current NCAA tournament credits. Conference Avg Budgets Credits P-6 ACC $11.70 100 P-6 SEC $10.70 71 P-6 Big XII $10.50 82 P-6 Big East $10.00 54 P-6 Big 10 $9.90 82 P-6 Pac 12 $8.50 55 High Major American $6.50 25 High Major Atlantic-10 $5.00 19 High Major WCC $4.90 27 High Major MWC $4.20 11 High Major C-USA $3.00 10 High Major MVC $2.90 18 High Major Colonial $2.90 6 Mid-Major Big West $2.60 9 Mid-Major MAC $2.50 9 Mid-Major MAAC $2.50 6 Mid-Major WAC $2.50 6 Mid-Major Horizon $2.30 6 Mid-Major Patriot $2.20 7 Mid-Major Sun Belt $2.10 7 Low-Major America East $2.00 9 Low-Major A-Sun $2.00 8 Low-Major OVC $1.80 9 Low-Major Summit $1.80 9 Low-Major Southern $1.80 7 Low-Major Big Sky $1.80 6 Low-Major NEC $1.70 8 Low-Major Big South $1.60 7 Low Ivy $1.40 6 Low Southland $1.30 8 Low MEAC $1.20 7 Low SWAC $1.00 8

Well, it took a kid from Montana and Weber St transfer to finally dagger the Griz!!

Nice game.. fun to watch.

I like it .... in it late. Let the team build and understand pressure basketball.

Nero is starting to change things at the point.
-
Agree, but I think he brings something off the bench.
-
It odd on some of these fouls... they are getting called for boxing out.
-
I really like Howard - he's got a gritty game.

Are the DA and Ass. DA in trouble for witness tampering with the "did anyone ask you to change to statement? Yes, you!!" That does not sound good.

Locks: NDSU 6-1 - Win next against USD and they have the Conference Title. MSU 6-2 - They are done with conference play. USD 5-2 - They win on the road against NDSU and it sets up a 3 or 4 way tie for the Conference Title. The win today locks them into the playoffs. SIU 5-2 - They play YSU at home. Conference Title is still possible. Things get interesting: SDSU 4-3 - They host UND next week. Win and it is a lock. Lose and things get interesting. They have two quality wins @CSU and NDSU. UND 3-4 - On the road at SDSU. Win 99% chance they are done. But, if they win UND would be tied in conference with SDSU and own H2H. Only quality win would be SDSU - but finishing the season strong winning 4 or last 5. UNI 3-4 - Hosting WIU, like UND with a win next week they would only have 6 D1 wins, but they would have three quality wins - Sac St., SDSU and SIU. If UND wins at SDSU does it open things up for UNI in over SDSU. Predicted Outcome: NDSU, SDSU and UNI win, SDSU is in the playoffs but the question is, does UNI get in if Sac St wins out (co Big Sky Champ or Big Sky Champ). Plus how much does the nonconference MVFC record sway the committee. UND needs the following to have a chance: Win at SDSU, hope UNI loses and hope Sac St. win Big Sky Championship out right. If the bubble falls correct could they get in???

Kind of a surprise given what the program has to work with...
-
Hey, hey Mines grad here.... Mines had recently transitioned from NAIA to DII. The program is still improving and growing - 7-4 right now in the RMAC this year. Now, if you wanted to see bad you should have seen the Rockers during late 80's and early 90's - very BAD to really just plain sad. I think they might have won 3 or 4 games in a 4 year period.
-
wow NDSU - three straight toss up calls: Grounding, Personal Foul late hit and PI in the endzone in the last 2:00 of this game.
-
Yes, that finished up last year.

The MAC is really throwing these two a lifeline. Because they don't really fit the academic profile of the other MAC schools. - This moves MAC south into two markets that are actually growing. Most of the MAC schools are located in smaller communities and the schools that are in larger metros have a slow growth profile (Kalamazoo and Buffalo are the only positive growth areas in the MAC). So, this a major positive for the MAC. - Neither MTSU or WKU are research schools - all other MAC schools are R2 minimum. So, these schools are out of alignment on the research profile. I really didn't see the MAC doing much during this round of change. The AAC pulled in questionable schools from a historical athletic profile. But, really concentrated on large metro areas with schools that had R1 (Rice, UAB, UNT)/R2 (FAU, UNCC, UTSA) research profile.

So sad, thoughts and prayers to his family - God Bless.

That's fair, but they are the last receivers that I could think..

William Randolph Hearst - yellow journalism.. I think they call it guerrilla journalism now..

It was a no brainer... MWC as is right now is clearly to the top G5-Conference and it is not close. Is the AAC better than SBC or C-USA?
-
Oh, I agree - I don't understand the motive for Colorado State or Air Force. People talk about the money differences between AAC and MWC. But, I believe those media contracts have a "subject to change" clause which is going to materially change the current numbers for AAC to be more in line with the MWC or even lower. I really don't understand it and the only school that is in really in play for the Big 12 right now is Boise State. I can see Colorado State, San Diego State and UNLV being seriously considered in the near future for P5 conference. But for right now the MWC is the best option IMO.
