The problem for MN in the BTHC is that the schools are so far from Minneapolis that that you get very few visiting fans at the games. Wisconsin is the only school within driving distance. With few visiting fans it is harder to build hockey rivalries and fill up the arena. Mariucci used to see a lot of UND, SCSU and UMD fans for those series. They don't get that now and Notre Dame won't help with that.

The first statement from the Gopher fan was - "You have to remember that no one in MN would want to listen to that." The response was that there are a lot of hockey fans in general and Sioux fans in particular in MN that would have interest in that. I don't expect every show to talk about UND but to say that nobody would be interested isn't true and that is what we were reacting to.

and Gopher apologists please tell us again how they weren't competitive because they had 10 freshmen on their roster - but conveniently forget that UND has 11 freshmen on our roster. You just have the wrong freshman.

I was replying to your statement "You have to remember that no one in MN would want to listen to that." I was pointing out that statement is not true. There are plenty of people in MN who are college hockey fans and also UND fans and would want to listen to that. That and the fact that UND has 8 Minnesota players on their roster. and it is your choice to come onto a UND fan site - but don't expect much other than pro-UND talk. Things must be pretty quiet on GPL which is not surprising considering the state of your program.

You are wrong. There are a ton of UND grads and UND hockey supporters in the TC including me. Not all of those fans that show up for games in the TC come from GF. I listened for a while today but turned it off. They avoid most things that are positive about UND. Check the Trib when NHL'ers are mentioned. If it is a former gopher they print that. If it is a former UND player they write about their HS affiliation or say nothing

In my opinion the U of M doesn't really have a campus atmosphere like most other colleges and I think that hurts them with some recruits. It is almost like a collection of buildings in an office park. It isn't completely dependent on size. Other big schools like Wisconsin, Notre Dame and Michigan State have campuses with more of a 'college' feel to them.

I remember hearing of something like this years ago where a basketball coach did the same thing. He upped it one more level and gave the offender a chair and a cold Coke-cola to drink while his teammates ran.

If this was the first time I had heard the excuse that MN is young and has a lot of freshman I could agree with you. I have been in the Twin Cities for over 30 years now and this line of thinking is pretty constant. You would think that MN is the only team that has players leave early and they always have way more freshmen than anybody else.

I don't understand why everyone here in the Twin Cities tries to give MN a pass because they have 9 freshman. UND has 11 freshman and is one of the top teams in the country again. MN has 3 seniors on their roster and UND has 4. I will take your word for it that none of the UM seniors play but that is an example of the problems with the program too.

The football players at the bb games has been a great start for student support. It would be great if they could find a way to include more of the student body with what they are doing so the students feel part of it and have some kind of bond with the fb players. I think something grass roots like that could carry over to fb games and other sports as well. Maybe through Nodak Nation.

Grady coming back would be great for UND football and for him. I hope it works out.

For those in the Twin Cities - the Saturday game is on CW23

I was at the basketball game last Saturday and it was jersey day for the football team. Everything from Brazil soccer to Cal Ripkin Jr complete with baseball pants, eye black and a baseball glove.

I have kids in school at UND now and they boo because they did it once in protest and now think it is funny. There is no grand conspiracy among the hockey fans.

As much as we loved it, the Sioux name isn't coming back. We need to get past that hope and soon.

One thing that makes it obvious that Bubba is heavily invested in UND is the interest he shows in getting his players and other students to support other teams at UND. He really is the genuine article.

My story is that my father-in-law passed away the week of the game so I couldn't go to the game and his funeral was right during the game. It was also my 40th birthday that day. My mother-in-law has apologized a few times for 'making' me miss the game. The priest told us to listen to the game on the way to the cemetery because my father-in-law was a big fan and would have appreciated it. The post funeral lunch was at Sacred Heart which had TVs up in the corners in the cafeteria. A few of us were gathered around the TV watching but most people were sitting down eating and drinking coffee and pretending not to watch. When we broke the big play on 4th and 4 the entire place erupted. All those pretending not to pay attention were really watching over the top of their coffee mugs. I did run into the UND coaches that night and had a few beers with them. Quite a day - lots of sadness and lots of joy.

a lot of the discussion has centered around whether Business Class is appropriate or not and that isn't the issue. Just trying to get it back to some kind of reasonable discussion and not get sidetracked with 'elitist' talk.

Flying Business Class is not the issue here and I have done it many times but that met with the rules my company has in place. The fact that the rules governing Bresciani's travel stated that he was to fly coach unless approved by a President. It sounds like he 'approved' the upgrade in travel for himself which is shady at best.

Hard for me to say but what the heck - I hope he does well.

I am not in a position to fire him or prosecute him and I really don't plan to STFU. Nice mature reply, by the way. Maybe it is time to start ignoring the noise inside your head. I have traveled all over the world for business. We have rules on what class of ticket is acceptable based on distance and we aren't able to approve our own expenses or upgrades for that matter. Do you think he would have done it if he knew he was going to get caught approving his own upgrade? I highly doubt it. I have stayed in the same hotel on business and personal travel. We don't have per diem but get reimbursed for actual expenses. All of those receipts are reviewed by our immediate supervisors and we don't approve our own spending.
