I happened to run into him at a game and he indicated to me that he came in with an injury and didn't know it and it was found early in camp. I might have misunderstood him too.

I believe he already used up his redshirt year as a true freshman.

I just helped a friend move a bar shuffleboard machine into his basement last weekend. Bar shuffleboard is a much better vs. croquet for the winter months in MN and ND.

Thanks for making my point for me. The people directly involved care a lot - whether it is NCAA Hockey or FCS Football (or Major Junior hockey, I guess) and the rest of North America has a very passing interest. Again - NCAA Hockey and FCS Football are similar in importance.

Go to WInnipeg or Toronto and ask who won the NCAA Hockey or FCS football champoinship last year. I would guess the majority of people have no idea. Like I said before - they are similar for most of the US and even Canada.

Which is why I said - Most of Canada doesn't give a rip about US college hockey either which is saying something since they are the biggest hockey fans in the world.

Much of this is just silly. College hockey existed long before Title IX and college teams didn't add hockey at that time. If you are worried about a sport impacting Title IX - FBS and FCS football has many more scholarships than hockey so they would be the first to go if that was the main driver. I know a lot of hockey fans think the whole world is watching and enthralled with the sport but most of the country doesn't follow it and FCS football has an equivalent following. Most of Canada doesn't give a rip about US college hockey either which is saying something since they are the biggest hockey fans in the world.

Both are similar. The number of schools that play college hockey is not that large. It is the top tier of college hockey but most of the US doesn't care about hockey. FCS football is not the top tier of college football but there are a lot more people in the US that follow college football so it is a wash in my opinion. Not many people in the US could name the FCS national champion or the college hockey national champion. Most don't even know Union College exists. Hell - I even had to look up their nickname (Dutchman) and I was at the Frozen Four when they won it.

Most on here agree that FCS championships are a big deal.

My understanding is that EIU didn't beat any playoff teams. Is that right? We beat #6 seed and FBS team. Doesn't make any more sense 2 days later.

100% agree. Word gets around in recruiting when coaches pull scholarships from guys like Mollberg and Bartels. UND made a commitment to those two and they have been good teammates, students and citizens from everything I have heard. They also have both been starters within the last 1.5 seasons. I would be very surprised if Bubba did that.

you are right. we weren't competitive against NDSU at that time of the year. Do you feel WIU was competitive when they gave up a mere 59 in their 59-7 loss to NDSU?

WIU is first team to make playoffs without 7 wins since forever. Definitely a case to be made that they didn't deserve to be in.

I remember 1991 and I was pissed then too. Thanks for having the year for that one. I was going to look it up but was too lazy.
