I was on fb team for one year at St John's back in the 80's. It was the same back then. No athletic scholarships allowed but the best fb players magically got academic or other scholarships to be there.

The dreaded “someone close the program” told me. Not able to disclose but it’s someone that would know. -

Hearing GM announced today or tomorrow. -
Looking at last 2025 recruiting thread. Karter Peterson TE (Thompson) committed April 2nd last year. Isaiah Wright RB (Fertile-Beltrami) on April 30. Later de-committed and signed with Duluth Charles Langama RB (Maple Grove) on May 11

Makes sense. Many of the top players in MN play for those teams.

What makes you think the head fb coach does the bulk of the recruiting? He's definitely involved in the final decisions but the assistants have a region or state they are responsible for. Just the sheer number of football players on the roster would make that impossible.
-
I’m willing to give him a shot. I’ve been HC and assistant at many levels and there is a role that the assistant has to play. Does nobody any good if he’s defying the coach or acting like HC during the season. Especially bad for the players.

The interesting part to me was Chaves said his meeting with Berry was SOP for end of year. By end of meeting he decided to make a change. Berry wouldn’t be the first person to get feedback from boss and then talk himself out of a job.

Just saw that former UND OL Paul Sturdevant passed away suddenly on Sunday at 63. Sturdy played in the early '80's and was a great guy who was quick to laugh and to get a laugh out of others too. He had coached the OL at Perham hs for a number of years. Rest in peace Sturdy. https://www.schoenebergerfuneralhome.com/obituaries/paul-sturdevant

Not always an issue. There are examples of long time assistants moving up and being successful. hopefully this is another one. Tom Izzo at Mich St. was bb assistant 1983-1995. Has been HC at same school since with tremendous success.

For good reason. Haven’t had enough top end talent on D to have attitude and earn swagger. Those don’t mean much if can’t back it up.
-
One of my favorites- when they played UND a student had a sign that said - Ryan and Danny - it’s not too late to transfer. Tutors are standing by.

Have seen her play multiple times. Good player

Any credible reports out there on who has shown interest? I've seen very little speculation except for a couple of whish lists.

Death knell for low end P4 teams too unless get lots of NIL money. Minnesota lost most all of team last year. Payne and Hawkins got like $600k and $750k from TX schools. Gophers gave Garcia $500k and had another $700k for rest of team. Crazy that isn’t near enough. Report is next year mens bb will have $5M NIL plus whatever share they get from $20M revenue sharing. Most of that will go to football but they expect to give 20-25% to bb.

Same. I did read it a couple of days ago so something must have broken.

I wore a single digit number at UND. There was nothing special about it back then but it was one of the few available and that's what they gave me. My username might provide a clue as to what number that was. I was in no position to request anything. Just happy to have a jersey and spot on the team at that point.

Not sure how lifting knee to contact goalie up high isn't goalie interference.

#27 has 4 goals this year and none since 11/8. 6 assists and 1 since 11/9 I guess he is on 4th line now

For 25% of the kids that make the state tournament. I was a volunteer assistant with a girls bb team last year that played in the MN state tournament. The pre-tourney banquet for all the teams, the fun of playing in the big venue (Williams Arena), being in the tunnels and using the UM locker rooms, using the bench there were all part of the excitement. We had decent crowds for early rounds and a good crowd for the finals. Part of the experience was feeling like we were playing in something big. It wouldn’t have been the same at St Cloud St or Concordia St Paul.
-
I don’t see schools voting to have one big tourney with regional sites til final 4. Today 16 teams make to the Xcel Center in St Paul which is a big deal for them and their communities. Playing in Moorhead, Duluth or wherever and only 4 making it to St. Paul isn’t all that attractive.

Jess Myers says Roseau not going AA.

The big metro schools have about 1000 students/grade so about 2000 boys 9-12. Plus lots of transfers for sports. Very hard to overcome for smaller schools.
