The student who ran the sack city sign for us the three years before this one was good friends with Q. Made his own Q shirt by drawing on a white tank top T. He even came back for senior day this year just for Q. I asked how he knew him and he said they lived next to each other and Q came over and introduced himself and is a helluva guy. They've been friends ever since.

I'm old and he's the only one I could think of. I remember watching him when I was in hs and he was a beast at the QB position.

Tom Biolo? Not sure if he would be considered a dual threat in today's era but I remember him as a pretty good running QB.

In 2023, about 45% of student-athletes who entered the transfer portal were able to move to a new school. Most, if not all, of our guys that I am aware of that entered the portal found new teams. There must be a bunch of guys that are at lower end of rosters across the country that are taking one last shot and don't catch on anywhere.

It'll be hard to find anyone on here who doubts that SchmidtE will do a great job and get a good staff in place. We are just commenting on the process, timing and speculating on what it might mean. Just being fans who care and are interested in how things work in the coaching ranks and how the university goes about hiring.

Not doubting your reply but it seems like a strange way to hire a staff. I'd think he'd work top down. Maybe his preferred DC candidate is with a team that is still playing.

We haven't been able to consistently get enough top athletes to run any defensive set at a high level. The 3-4 is just a convenient boogeyman.

I think most on here have said that we haven’t had the talent level of the top teams. We won games when we played our best but there hasn’t been any margin for error. Any letdown at all and we lost games.

What positions are still open besides DC and recruiting coordinator?

All you said is true. We don't have enough dudes, especially on D. I think we do make the field if we had the conference schedules some of those other teams had. Those teams and their conferences get exposed during the playoffs.

I think 3 in first round. Lehigh, UT Martin and Illinois St. ISU was on road cuz field not available.

The long snapper and holder are underrated in importance to the kicking game. On place kicks it is the difference between the kicker starting his swing before he has a target or starting with ball already in place. It is a big deal. Neuberger was so solid he mostly went unnoticed and that's a good thing. It is great to get him back.

I looked up the U of MN staff to see what they have for recruiting coordinators. I admit I was surprised by the number of people assigned to recruiting. There are 9 here plus a few others that may fall under the same umbrella. Director of Player Personnel - in his bio it calls him the recruiting coordinator. In the interview with UNDfootball360 he talks about going thru the formality of the hiring rules. Sounded like it will take a week or two but is bringing in a number of new people.
