  1. When you think about it, they (the UND athletes) are the only ones who are the "Fighting Sioux". I would bet that if they took a vote on the name, it would almost be unanimous in retiring it.
  2. We understand. You're nuts! Good thing you weren't POTUS during the day of mutual assured destruction!
  3. The other difference is that you can't have Sioux without UND. But, you can have UND without Sioux. One supersedes the other. And it ain't the Sioux name that supersedes UND!
  4. Yup. Same product. The same. Exactly. No difference. None, whatsoever. So, let me demonstrate: - = Yup. Same. Same teams. Same athletes. Same tradition. Just minus the Sioux name. But, they get a level playing field without it. Vote yes, y'all!
  5. The point is that NDSU does not have the upper hand in scheduling Minnesota. It is reverse. As it is with any potential game between Minnesota and UND.
  6. You don't get it. First, dropping athletics means dropping the name. Second, NDSU does NOT schedule Minnesota. Minnesota schedules NDSU.

    Jerseys

Those look good. They do need a number on them.
  8. I just saw that too. He said that the school will be there with or without athletic teams. So, to Dave it's either keep the name or drop the teams. That's messed up.
  9. Under the current sanctions, no. But, things could change...
  10. Not as of yet. Loveland High School still uses "Indians" for their nickname.
  11. No. According to Lakes, they already are!
  12. I think that Wisconsin just said they had to review their nickname if they receive complains. Menomonee Falls continues to use the name "Indians". http://www.menomoneefallsnow.com/sports/sports-wrapups-jan-16-9f3q6kj-137444743.html#!page=0&pageSize=10&sort=newestfirst But, I have read they are considering a change...not sure if and when it goes into effect. Their school paper and school website doesn't seem to have any use of the word, "Indians" when describing their sports teams. http://www.menomoneefallsnow.com/news/107000233.html#!page=7&pageSize=10&sort=newestfirst
  13. Don't you mean on your way out, "Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!"
  14. Well, have fun with that....
  15. Congrats to all of the graduates! I know we focus on the athletes, but I am happy for all that got their degrees!
  16. That would make any red-blooded male UND Hockey fan happy!
  17. Probably! BTW, I have said this before. I own 7 Sioux hockey jerseys, 5 Sioux hoodies, about 8 Sioux sweatshirts, probably 20 Sioux t-shirts...23, yes, 23 Sioux hats, various Sioux yard flags, glasses, shorts, slippers, etc ... I will display and wear the gear proudly. But, I am more proud of the University of North Dakota, where I got my undergraduate degree, than the Sioux name. As I am in my pride for being from North Dakota. It is, after all, a nickname. Keeping the athletic programs legitimate is much more important than a name.
  18. Well, one could wear Mickey Mouse ears and vote "No" if they wished. That may be more appropriate.
  19. I trust Hack. I'm sure he had his reasons. I still wonder about recruiting? Maybe the loss of those those players to the juniors wasn't his fault, but I think it was a factor.
  20. It's a HUGE marketing tool. Kids sometimes, believe it or not, choose a school at the age of 17 because it's the cool and fun place to be. Later, they find out what great academic programs they have. Excellent point, JB!
  21. Game. Set. Match. It's over. Time to get rid of my avatar. I will wear my Sioux gear to the games. But, they need to drop the nickname. Between this and the SDSU issue, anybody that believes it's a good idea to keep the Sioux nickname is delusional or doesn't care at all for UND sports. Including hockey.
  22. Good move by UND to sign him to an extension. He's a class act.
  23. Well, he didn't rule from the bench. It will be interesting to see what happens.
  24. Absolutely. Fans of the team. Fans of the school. If someone is just a fan of the nickname, they really aren't a fan. That IS the point.
