  2. I barely recall that show ...
  3. That ship has long since sailed, floundered in a storm and sank like a rock.
  4. Since I can't embed YouTube on my work computer ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39YUXIKrOFk
  5. Not that there's anything wrong with that ...
  6. I not sure "elite" means what you think it means. Otherwise, no concerns.
  7. Maybe AP will go over to the Governor's mansion with a nice tree branch ...
  8. Not to mention the millions he is due to be paid under his current deal.
  9. It makes sense for the remaining Sioux inventory to run off over time and for the current logo, etc., to fill the void. That said, there may be a very healthy market for "used" Sioux gear, knockoffs, etc., on the internets ...
  10. For California juries, can you say "punitive damages" children?
  11. One can only guess the result of the Sioux moniker battle if NoDak's legislative and congressional delegations had grabbed their stones and stepped forward when the NC$$ initally got on its high horse. Love the comments about the NC$$'s arrogance. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/05/sports/ncaafootball/how-one-legislator-helped-penn-state-escape-ncaas-harsh-penalties.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=second-column-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news

    The Truth

Wait until Steve Stevenson weighs in ...
  13. He also ignores the fact that Florida's entire congressional delegation immediately threatened to "get medieval" on the NC$$ whereas NoDak's delegation was, and still is, embarrassingly silent.
  14. Agree. I hope the idiot politicians will stop using the issue for their own self-serving goals.
  15. Guess who blinked first ... http://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/17/sports/ncaafootball/joe-paterno-penn-state-ncaa-wins-restored.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=second-column-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news
  16. Never rat on your friends and always keep your mouth shut.
  17. Perhaps they may need a media distraction from Paterno's ghost. http://www.wsj.com/articles/will-penn-state-rain-on-ncaas-parade-1421279399?autologin=y
  18. Let me guess, you work in Marketing. or you took a few classes in Gamble. Winning teams drive revenue, including alumni donations, media contracts, increased student fees, corporate sponsors and ticket sales, and it doesn't matter what they're called. 9-10 years ago you could have walked into Oregon's football stadium for a home game and basically have the place to yourself. And look at the "Ducks" now, well not so much after Ohio State ate their lunch, but still ... If you want to sell t-shirts and related branded garb to fund a D1 athletic department, you may was well have a few thousand bake sales too.
  19. I doubt very few people attend a school because it has a "cool" name as opposed to the quality of the education it offers. Then again, not much surprises me anymore.
  20. Anyone confusing UND and ND should probably stop drinking.
  21. I think that's a narrow view. Harvard has a brand, but it's not tied to their team name. Same with MIT. If you're talking about building a brand with a new moniker, it's for the athletic teams not UND itself. The school's been around since 1883 in spite of Flickertails, and will certainly maintain its own brand separate from the teams' name(s). As far as I'm concerned UND alums, students and other supporters of the Sioux moniker will allow it to live beyond the creation of something new for as long as they wear their Sioux gear and shout "Go Sioux!". For example, on some of UND's Facebook feeds people write "Sioux" or "Go Sioux". I see very few "North Dakota". The Sioux name may be officially retired, but it's not dead as long we carry it forward on our own terms.

    FBS games

Agreed. Jones doesn't want to go to class anyway, and the NFL never has study or film sessions.
  23. Part of the current dive is being driven by OPEC's refusal to cut production in hopes of maintaining market share, and perhaps driving higher cost production out of business. Couple that with lower overall demand and the world is bascially awash in crude right now.
  24. I'm still of the opinion that no matter what the new moniker will be that people should still shout "GO SIOUX!" as reply to the use of the new moniker after a score or some other trigger. The use of "War Eagle" by Auburn Tigers would be an apt model to maintain the tradition of using Sioux outside the reach of the NC$$ and the bed wetters who campaigned for its demise, regardless of what the future moniker will be.
  25. Why on Earth do idiot politicians keep turning this issue into a political football for their own gain?
