  1. Here's a nice little write-up about J.P. http://www.startribune.com/sports/wild/288009211.html?page=all&prepage=2&c=y#continue
  2. Agree. One of concerns I have about these ad hoc proceedings, is that they effectively take a criminal matter with well-defined rules and move it to an administrative system that is stilted against one party or the other. Invariably, one or both parties are harmed, so a well defined process that protects both parties is critical. If universities want to play "judge, jury and executioner", they need to do it in a transparent and consistent fashion that protects those involved in the process.
  3. It's convenient that he conveniently "forgets" that Spirit Lake made a late, vain attempt to keep the Sioux moniker ...

Agreed, the ethanol "business" couldn't survive on its own without taxpayers footing most of the bill. I'm not a schill for the petroleum industry, but as it currently exists but the corn-based ethanol industry is nothing short of a scam.
  5. You're more likely to find them in the southwest such as in Arizona and New Mexico.
  6. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/27/sports/though-ice-is-in-short-supply-arizona-warms-up-to-hockey.html?&hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=second-column-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news As much as we talk about ASU going D1 on other threads, maybe there's more to hockey in this state than we thought.
  7. Slavery for all of its evil was only a piece of why the southern states seceded. Economic, cultural and political factors were all big wedges between the north and south, and in many cases still are.
  8. http://www.wsj.com/articles/tracing-oil-price-plunge-back-to-texas-1418404579?mod=WSJ_hp_LEFTTopStories A lot of factors are at play, and it does not appear the chaos will end anytime soon.
  9. If anyone has the least claim to a new name or the process in general it's the nice folks who forced the issue or didn't lift a finger when it counted to save the Sioux moniker, and i made that quite clear when I took the survey.
  10. That case has been made, argued, lost and the subject of litigation and legislation. The Sioux moniker is beaten dead and buried. Get over it.
  11. Translation: We don't want to upset the vast majority of University Alums and supporters who supported keeping the moniker, but understood the rationale for letting it go. These are the same people who who care the most about the University and are willing to cough up the money to show it.

If Uber makes it to the Fargo area he may be able to make more than that.
  13. It's possible some outfits may become victims of their own success. With global oil prices dropping or staying low for a number of reasons, any sustained decline could impact capital expenditures for a while. 14. Once again, Nocera hangs the NC$$ on its own petard. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/02/opinion/joe-nocera-the-ncaas-bluff.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=c-column-top-span-region&region=c-column-top-span-region&WT.nav=c-column-top-span-region#
  15. Considering some of the crime occuring around Minnesota's campus lately, he could probably use one at times. I wonder if the nanny tucks Bresciani into bed.
  16. Apparently, nearly a billion dollars just isn't enough for her.

  18. To be fair, 'su has always had some sort of stench.
  19. Agree. Regardless of the new name/moniker/mascot or whatever, I still think we take the "Auburn approach" and use "Sioux" in some form or fashion as a response to the "University of North Dakota ____". It could be a new tradition owned by students, alums and others who think the NC$$ deserves to die a slow, lingering death at the hands of federal courts.
  20. Frackers? Exploding Trains?
  21. Okay, let's go with "Berzerkers" then.
  22. But the question remains: Is it firing?
  23. Well, at least they vote. Unlike a good portion of "live" people who should vote too.
