Holy Cross has nothing to be ashamed about. They work hard and have a strong forecheck. Just a lower skill level overall. But they bottled us up for stretches of time, and our defense is not chopped liver. (jeez, do people even say that anymore?)

Holy Cross @ UND - Friday SEASON OPENING Gameday!
burd replied to stoneySIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
Most of us seem to agree about Gaber. Thing is, he seems to be the consummate team player, just trying to do too much. As the other skilled forwards continue to improve, Gaber will feel less personally responsible for generating scoring opportunities. -

Tonight could be a much closer game. HC carried play a fair amount of time after the first period. They work hard at taking away space; their talent level is just quite a bit short of UNDs -

nchc streaming this one? -
Might take some pressure off Gaber to try to do too much. That's not really a criticism of Gaber; he has come out with huge energy this year.

Dad definitely had an edge. To be fair to Jackson, though, he is not his father and shouldn't have to try to be. Maybe he's better.

There are whispers out there that gfhockey hosts a black site for UMD fans. Their big thing is sending out "grindah remindahs" to UND fans on various social media sites.
-
Is that an option?

We agree, but even though players from those schools will be faster and older than Bison players (I think), guys who grew up playing hockey north of the border probably did so in a culture that believed if you got your bell rung, no matter how loud, because you had your head down, it's all on you. It's not that way so much in college hockey nowadays.

And that was Manitoba. But he will deal some pucks. Just a little like Grimaldi, his linemates better be ready. Hopefully, he has his dad's grit.

We have some possession players this year--at least against this caliber talent. Blake will make some pretty plays. -

He is, but he may be trying to do too much with the puck. -

It's just you, Blackheart; you need a reset every so often. Hate to be the guy to have to tell you that. -
The Herb Brooks approach. Or at least his Olympics approach.

They bulk of it passes through their estate, probably when the survivor dies. That part could be a long ways off. Just as generous either way. Thank you Peabodys. -
Even just two of the top line?

I’m just hoping we can get by Manitoba and eek out a few wins before Xmas. -

I'd be interested in knowing how you all think this team will match up against DU and UMD. Not which teams are best based on talent and experience, but how the Hawks will match up against the kind of teams those two will put on the ice--the kinds of forechecks they use, neutral zone defenses, etc. I single those two teams out there because they will likely be factors in both the conference and NCAA championships, plus the fact that we fans are always comparing our recruits to theirs as if they are the standard we are measured against. -
Grindah muscles control then makes a bad outlet pass?

Freshman forwards certainly stand a better chance of excelling than D-men, who have a tougher learning curve. -

Not just the numbers either. Not all SOG are created equal. -

That's why DU has him in such a panic! Once someone's banner count hits double figures, it all falls apart for him. Now I feel bad for giving him shyt. -

gf might need a stand-in for practices. He's good at counting banners, but he's never been on skates.
