  1. Jax has them in arrack mode offensively (while, at the same time, preaching grit and responsibility). IMO, top talent wants to attack; it’s in their blood. BB did a lot of things well, but I THINK (don’t know) his teams sometimes chafed at the speed governor that was careful play.
  2. During the last several years, a lot of fans here expressed the opinion that Karl was upward bound.
  3. Great history, farce, as usual. And it explains things, doesn’t it?
  4. gfhockey yesterday and gfhockey the day before are not even the same person. Thankfully, for who would want more of any one version of himself? 😁 gfhockey: he doesn’t always drink, but when he does he drinks anything he can get his hands on.
  5. Jax said early on that he intended to pinch more and generally be more aggressive in the O zone. The boys are doing that.
  6. Toews is an intense guy with a lot of pride who knows what it takes to succeed in the NHL. I doubt he would have come back if there was much doubt in his mind that he can still contribute.
  7. My wife and I moved to Wisconsin not far from Madison in late ‘84 after having lived in warm weather hockey deprived places for years. I wasn’t prepared for how much Wisco fans loved hockey and valued the Sioux/Badger rivalry. Since then, Ive attended a lot of games at the old Dane and, later, the Herb. Before about 10/12 years ago, Badger games rocked. I’ve always said that UND games at the old Ralph were more intense but Badger home games were more fun. Wiscovites love to party and have fun, and it showed at their hockey games. Not so much nowadays. Hopefully, some of the old energy will return. Another thing about rivalries. Bucky fans’ attitude toward the gophers has always had quite a bit of the same hate aspect as UND fans have (had?) toward the gophs. But Badger fans, in my experience, have always had a healthy affection for UND fans. They really liked that rivalry, even after the water bottle years.
  8. Dang, they have some serious talent at D, even without the new guys.
  9. We’ll see 4 games from now.
  10. A lot to be optimistic about after last night. Hopefully, we’ll still feel this way next Sunday.
  11. If nothing else, puckbunny coeds build stamina.
  12. If you’re truly old school Sioux, you want leather helmets. And since it’s probably required, I’m sure theres a way to hang some mamby pamby face guards on them. Also leather. Natural leather—not dyed some fake color. It’s time to become the men we once were.
  13. I was going to be a porn star but couldn’t get drafted in any league, so I took my chances as a walk-on at UND. Didn’t see much playing time, unfortunately.
  14. This kid sounds like a guy you want on your team.
  15. I can see why you’d say that, but how much do you ever get from the Manitoba game.
  16. He should do a few laps around the crease, where he picked up so many of his goals.
  17. Maybe his understudy, gfhockey, is an option. He may even be able to convince Spicer to return, despite what Admissions has to say about it. Judy’s would have to open a Duluth shop, of course, and someone would have to provide a bail fund.
  18. No room in this discussion for Kerouac’s The Dharma Bums? This is an education-related site, after all.
  19. That which we call a dandelion, by any other word . . . .
  20. Yeas, but the woulda coulda shoulda crowd was pretty critical of staff when he jumped.
  21. If the play-by-play guy has a good “Are you kidding me?,” I’m sold.
  22. Come on, gf, you know we didn’t want any of those guys.
  23. Over/under on how many of us it takes to comprise most of us?
  24. Same thing going on at UMD, or is it just that Sandy can’t recruit ?
