I ran into Eaves once at a fundraiser golf event. The event was over and we were both going to our cars--he with his wife. I disclosed that I was a Sioux fan, but he was surprisingly engaging. After 18 holes and an obligatory speech on a very hot day, he could have been short, but he was very pleasant, and it seemed genuine. But then, my water bottle was locked and loaded and he knew it.

Hate to see a grown man get all blubbery like that. Well, maybe not hate . . .

They have good team speed and some scorers on offense this year, which should earn opponents’ respect, which should be a good thing for the young D while they get used to the D-1 game. Speed really helps the back check too.

They have recruited well this year, but this coaching staff is still on the hook for my overall negative feelings about my life. A few honest-to-Parise chippahs might change that, so long as they win it all.

Pretty much. They have the talent and coaching to make the tourney and possibly have some success there. On paper. Never know.
