  1. Great comeback thus far to send it to a fifth set. Mo is on our side.
  2. Bucs are up 2-1. Raise the Jolly Roger, baby! Hopefully the curse of Sid Bream has been lifted.
  3. For me the video was decent, but the audio was very hard to hear. I switched to the radio feed and that was fine, but the audio on the webcast was very soft. Hopefully won't be a problem for the men's games. The video loses a little bit when you go to full screen, not sure how it would look on TV since I was just watching on the laptop. Looking forward to see if the HD is a reality for the men, since the women's games aren't shot in HD for webcast. (Although I'd guess maybe the ones that air on Midco will be). I also have MLB.tv, so I know what the capabilities of my machine are, and I'm excited about HD webcast.
  4. UND picked up the sweep with a 6-1 win. Susanna Tapani is the real deal. 6 point weekend and she looked very confident throughout. This team looks like it might do some damage this year, there is a lot of firepower offensively and the D seems improved.
  5. I could envision the Big Ten inviting UND as an affiliate for Mens and Women's Hockey and inviting Syracuse as an affiliate for Women's Hockey. That would allow them to add a Big Ten Women's league. That would be a pretty attractive offer for UND to jump at.
  6. Copy editors write headlines, not reporters. Don't be too quick to blame that one on Tom.
  7. Agree about Neulion being solid when it's working, but definitely wonky at times. I would have loved to see the NCHC work out some experimental agreement with MLBAM for all online properties. They are the absolute gold standard, and perhaps the NCHC could have offered themselves up as a testing ground so that MLBAM could work on things with a smaller audience prior to rolling out for MLB. MLB.tv is the best online product out there, and the various MLB apps like at bat and at the ballpark are just top notch. MLB.tv is available on virtually any platform you can think of, while not every platform can take advantage of the countless features available, the broadcasts themselves are there and the quality is excellent.
  8. College Hockey news is reporting that the WCHA has teamed with America One for a program to stream all league games. Full season package is $150 or $125 if purchased by Oct. 1. Would have been great to see the NCHC do something similar. Would have been a great opportunity to let fans get familiar with some the new teams in the league. And of course, you could also watch road games, which UND Insider doesn't offer. It doesn't feel like the NCHC is doing much to get visibility in the new college hockey landscape. Hopefully some splashy annoucements come soon. http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2013/09/24_wcha_announces_league-wide.php

    SDSU at UND

It also did take the crowd out of it some. The Alerus was LOUD on those last couple of SDSU drives and they were cleary rattle (as the non-delay of game call showed). The improved play of the D in the second half I believe was somewhat a result of feeding off the crowd energy. It would have been interesting to see how the game had progressed had we been able to get up 14-0 at the start. For me the biggest frustrations were the drops in the first half, the horrible clock management going in to halftime, the arm tackling on Zenner for much of the game (he's a nice back, but he isn't Jim Brown and Barry Sanders rolled in to one like we made him look), and of course the penalties. The drops, penalties and clock management are all things that can definitely be fixed and I'm hoping some of the tackling issues are addressed with personnel changes. I think the QB situation will work itself out and I think there will probably be opportunities for both to win big games before this season is over. Their approaches are different and I think it is up to the coaching staff to figure out when each of them has the best chance to excel. They are both freshman and this was the first legitimate defense they have seen, so I'm definitely not going to rule out either one. Bartels was victimized by some big drops and then I think tried to gamble more than his nature to try and get the team back in the game. Mollberg was sort of playing with house money in that there wasn't much to lose and against a softer prevent defense that he was able to exploit. One game isn't enough to draw too many meaningful conclusions.

Gotta agree it would be nice to see what any of the other backs could do. Miller is more of third down back, he just doesn't seem to break many tackles. But we need to be passing to set up the run anyway. That's just the reality with the personnel we have.

That and the snap on the play came well after the play clock expired.
  12. It's still there. Just follow the link above and click the enter promo code box. use the "northdakotaalumni" code and it should give you the two UND Denver games. You can also put both games on a single order to minimize your extra fees.
  13. Let's be honest the real issue is that if you are watching FOX and a former UND football player is being discussed the person talking about them is probably Troy Aikman or Terry Bradshaw, and if a former NDSU football player is being discussed its probably by John Walsh.
  14. Kansas City would be a good location. Sprint Center already exists and could be a good new rivalry for the Blues. and would fit geographically in the west/midwest.
  15. I gotta think Leafs fans are viewing this as karma.
  16. I think the WCHA women's league needs to consider going to a 21 game league schedule. It is definitely doing with travel pairs UND-BSU, MSU-SCSU, UM-UMD with only UW-OSU being a stretch. This would really help the league builds its schedule strength and help teams make the NCAAs. It's also disappointing to see Lindenwood on the schedule again. That really puts a lot of pressure on winning those games out at Clarkson.
  17. huge get!
  18. Very cool, North Dakota will be playing in the first ever NCHC game and it will be on National TV. I see the UND at UNO game on Saturday night will also be on CBS Sports. Good news. Maybe Midco will be able to pick up the Cox feed for the Sunday game, if Cox does the game.
  19. And maybe part of it is tied to taking his team to the NCAAs two years in a row. Sure the twins were a big catalyst for that, but he has clearly resurrected a program that was in shambles. Other than maybe Hardee, what UND coach has done that.
  20. I'd trade summers in Denver for summers in Bar Harbor in a heartbeat, and that's when you have some down time. Maine is plenty attractive as a place to live. And their fan base is much more passionate than Denver's, the eastern version of UND. It's a very desirable job.
  21. Make sure to get a Primanti Brothers Sandwich while you are in town, and if you are at all a baseball fan, hit PNC park and the Roberto Clemente museum on Friday. PNC is my favorite park, it has amazing views of the the Pittsburgh skyline and good tickets are cheap, probably even moreso in April.
  22. That is an added bonus, depending on your point of view.
  23. I think the only changes that need to be made are moving the regionals the home of the top four seeds and then dispersing teams to minimize conference matchups as much as possible. I would have seeded this years tourney as follows. You would have had great attendance at all sites and the matchups are pretty close to perfect PWR bracketing. At Quinnipiac 1 Quinnipiac 4 Canisius 2 North Dakota 3 Niagara At Minnesota 1 Minnesota 4 Yale 2 New Hampshire 3 Denver At Mass-Lowell 1 Mass-Lowell 4 Wisconsin 2 Miami 3 Union At Notre Dame 1 Notre Dame 4 St. Cloud 2 Boston College 3 Minnesota State Mankato
  24. If Oakland leaves for the Horizon, the ballsy play for the Summit would be to find a way to jettison its eastern wing (bids to the Horizon League or OVC) and then invite UND, Montana, Montana St., Northern Colorado and Weber State. That would give you a 10 team league with 8 football schools and distinct 5 teams divisions for olympic sports to minimize travel. For hoops and volleyball Omaha and Weber would be travel partners, while the other pairs are the in-state rivals. UND NDSU USD SDSU UNO Weber St Montana Montana St No. Colorado Denver You would have a high level FCS league and a basketball league that would have the potential for multiple bids. Most importantly, you would create a stable league of like-minded institutions with some decent media markets that could in a short amount of time become an upper tier mid-major conference. You would also have the ability to create a Mountain Plains academic consortium that would be a smaller scale version of the Big Ten's CIC.
  25. Wilmer's great outlet made that play happen.
