  1. You mean like this recent assessment: http://www.startribune.com/fargo-beyond-the-ya-you-betcha/425794763/
  2. Totally agree on the business friendly front of things.
  3. Yeah, sitting on the intersection of two major Interstate systems and railway hubs to and from the Twin Cities and Chicago, hasn't hurt Fargo one bit. Good on them. I will take Grand Forks, though, any day and twice on Sunday.
  4. And as they change their business model from a natural foods supermarket to a proposed eatery (presumably downtown)... these extra bodies within walking distance could help in the future.
  5. And threaten the delicate snowflakes that can't hack it, I guess.
  6. First team All American next year, I'm betting!
  7. We have our own Central Park with the Greenway, and it's only a couple blocks away. The loss of this pocket park known as "Arbor Park," which was always intended to be developed once the an offer came along, will not mean the demise of recreational green space in the city. I wish Grand Forks would quit getting in the way of businesses who want to do business in our fare city. Dakota Commercial took advantage of a state Ren Zone incentive for tax credits that was open to anyone who had the vision and resources to develop something. They will use that incentive and pass along those savings to the future homebuyers of the condos. There's no taxpayer risk here. The developer absorbs the risk and an existing state tax incentive program, that is there anyways, gets utilized.
  8. 8 questions for the UND Defense in 2017: 1. Will the depth and talent on the DL take the pressure off our relatively inexperienced LB corps? 2. About those LBs -- whose going to step up and take the reigns in this group? Lots of opportunities to be had. Gotta want it. Gotta seize it. 3. Will we ever get to see Dijon on the field? He has the build; his JUCO HUDL tape indicates he has the quicks. But still lots of uncertainties there. 4. Can Disterhaupt and Rogers be difference makers in the middle and who reads the opposing offenses and gets alignments set? 5. Who starts opposite Reyes at safety? 6. Who are the likely candidates, if any, to have RS pulled? (Zeke, Larson, Blubaugh, etc.) 7. Will D. Harris take the next step in his progression toward playing on Sundays? 8. What will the hopeful return of Tyus Carter mean for the UND secondary, which clearly made significant improvements in 2016?
  9. Experience aside, our defense is as athletic and talented as I've ever seen in the DI era. Now we need to see that translate to results on the field, especially in the middle from NT back to safety. As I drive through campus, it always warms my heart to see Disterhaupt and Nevermann walking and hanging out with one former #51 and to be reminded how good of friends they are. Some of his knowledge has got to be rubbing off on those two new ILBs as they prep for this season.
  10. I hope you're right.... that would be awesome for our fullback to be that productive!
  11. Gordon is an absolute STUD. He's a lock in the 2 deep for many of our conference mates. That said, Gordon also has 2 plus years in the system over JJ. What we saw at the spring game was Gordon reacting and executing at a high level. JJ was still learning. I have feeling that JJ will get there. It's a nice problem to have.
  12. It's being done, in part, to support the rapid growth in UND summer youth football camps. The work to prep the field is being paid for privately. It's a big need and allows UND to keep the camps on campus close to the other FB facilities instead of needing to utilize space at nearby parks such as Lake Agassis.
  13. 8 questions for the offense: 1. Will Aplin/Rooney take the next step, as centers tend to do, following their first year of steady action (I refer back to Boas as a recent example of huge progression from year 1 to 2? 2. Will Studsrud settle down in the pocket early this year and make the routine look, well, routine? 3. Is Grady the missing link that adds talent and depth at the line so the surge can be more reminiscent of 2015? 4. Is Johanneson the real deal? 5. Can our big rangy wide outs add superb blocking on the outside to their list of attributes (I feel that this is an underrated skill that Top FCS teams do really well)? 6. What will the backup QBs bring to the table this year? 7. Will Demun emerge as a lethal long range weapon for the entire year? 8. What impact will speedsters McKinney and Adeoti (speculating that RS will be pulled) have on this year's offense?
  14. I totally agree with you. Now it's the other side who is playing the SJW role of snowflake it would seem.
  15. Oh, there's still crying..... Just not the lefties anymore.
  16. As far fetched as this stuff is at this point, it's still fun to think about 2 possible 1st round draft picks in 2018. https://tyrantscouting.com/2017/06/12/2018-small-school-draft-class-pre-season-big-board/
  17. It was mentioned in another thread (2-deep defensive starters) that Flowers was no longer listed on the roster. FWIW, he is listed on what seems to be an updated 2017 roster. The same roster omits Poole, Tim Ryan (who we already knew bolted), WR Carter Blackwell, and walk ons: OL Devan Hunt, LB Matt Marler and Punter Jacob Meeks. It also doesn't include Walk-on Grafton product Zak Hernandez at WR. It should be noted that there are usually add ons at the start of fall camp and more add ons once school starts again.
  18. Saw on the MSU Kitties message board that they are claiming JoJo Henderson has committed and is headed to Bozeman this fall.
  19. Maybe the year he/she dropped out.... and the last time the Yotes won a game in the series.
  20. Turrible .... just turrible! -- C. Barkley
  21. That thought has crossed my mind more than once. Still our boys need to demonstrate respect off the field, and once in the dome, the utmost contempt on the field.
  22. I can just hear the refrain this year if things hold the way preseason rankings are predicting, so far (which they won't): "Well, Montana and EWU weren't as good as they usually are this year." It seems UND is damned one way and damned the other.... either we don't play them b/c of the unbalanced schedule or one or both are having a down year. MSU also has been relatively down lately.
  23. I hear you. One Fan board I have enjoyed lurking on the last couple years is the Yotes board. I think they are a very good up and coming Valley team (with a fantastic weight room-- just ask 'em). Bubba and UND absolutely should not and will not look past them or anyone this year. That said....it is interesting to read their board to get a regional FCS fan's perspective on us. Bottomline: Not a whole lot of respect for FH football, although, I assume the sentiment would be the same from us toward them. I also assume there are a lot of important changes they don't know about us and vice versa (if we're both basing what we know about each other on last year's game at the Alerus). Anyways. Enjoy. http://usdcoyotesports.proboards.com/thread/1852/2017-predictions
  24. Always fun for all fan bases to poke holes in... I give you the Massey ratings: http://www.masseyratings.com/cf/fcs/ratings
  25. Great points and better questions. You'd think our "hockey-only" rep would have translated to more butts in seats on game days. Or are we a "Men's hockey-only" school in these folks' eyes, and they are erroneously extrapolating that popularity to the women's game. I for one believe we are truly more than a one-trick pony and that football, for sure, and maybe basketball could eventually give pucks a run for its money.... not supplanting men's hockey on the throne but making the throne bigger to fit one or both of the others.
