A healthy Nguon knocks Rooney out of a starting job, Blair isn’t in the 2 deep, and UND’s OL may have lots of issues, but Aplin isn’t one of them.

I assume there are some listed as starters who can thank the new Red Shirt rule.

  8. Wow. I'm speechless. What a well-done piece about a very very sad topic. Oh, and Kennedy should be very proud of her father. Awesome guy. Godspeed, Murph.
  9. I will say they strung together two pretty good high-tempo practices in a row on Saturday and Sunday. Offense is starting to gel and put it together. Seems to be the way things go every fall. This is about the time the gap closes between D and O.
  10. Tom and Wigness were there, too! Plus they're getting paid on a Sunday.... LOL!
  11. ^^^^^^ All that said about Zim, I still voted for Ketteringham, based on in game experience at this level. Ketteringham does have a tendency, though, to hang in the pocket just a tad too long. I think his clock is still on Pacific Time. LOL! A couple of times he got eaten up by the DEs and OLBs but other times he got the ball off at the last millisecond. Nerve wracking for an observer.
  12. For what it's worth, I think Zim had, by far, the better day at practice today. Every QB will have their on and off days. Practice ended with a 50 yard bomb from Noah Grover to Red River's own Tyler Burian, who by beat JUCO transfer Osayi Onaghinor in close coverge, with a beautiful over the shoulder catch and scamper into the endzone. The offensive unit went nuts.

    2018 Season

I think the point is that no one has said anything much different than what you are saying about Keaton (tough player, good leader, etc.) No one has remotely tried to argue that he was ever all-conference or all-world like you seem to imply they have. A few people do bring up other mitigating factors that existed on the team (WR drops, poor blocking schemes, less than stellar support from the Head coach, OC and QB coaches, etc.) but all seem to concede that he certainly wasn't a top QB in the Big Sky. Some just couch things a little differently than you. No big deal. Just different perspectives.

Tough as nails. Right up their with some of the grittiest SiouxHawks that I've seen play football in person.

    2018 Season

Looks like UND and Denver will be striking up a rivalry on the volleyball hardwood in addition to the ice. http://www.thesummitleague.org/sports/wvball/2018-19/releases/20180816le9fyp The Summit League Preseason Volleyball Poll 1. Denver 2. UND 3. Omaha 4. South Dakota T6. NDSU 9. Western Ill.
  16. Nope, still on the road. Here’s hoping someone can get out there and share some observations.

    2018 Season

There should be, but it should be interally pointed and an internal driver amongst all. Can’t settle for good enough and certainly not the collective product that was put out on the field last season.

    2018 Season

Gawd, I sure hope not. They should all be thinking they are to blame and that they all need to get better, players and coaches.

    2018 Season

I think we are in full agreement on all your points. Just a lot of blame to go around, even Rudy. The sooner the whole team gets on board and stops pointing the fingers at each other instead of themselves the longer UND FOOTBALL will languish in mediocrity. We rise as a team and fall as a team. Everything else is just excuses.

    2018 Season

Yes, I agree. But my overriding point is more than just a specific anecdotal play. Do we run the risk of letting others off the hook by fixating so much on one glaring need for improvement? I want to get better all around, not just in one aspect of the game.

    2018 Season

What number is Rudy wearing this year? Does it get to the point where the "Rudy" thing becomes as much of an excuse as saying "we were injury riddled last year." I mean lots of other teams have inept OCs, too, and still manage to win.Their players simply execute. A lot of bad OCs out there are being made to look really good from players who execute at a high level. Players gotta execute, too. I don't consider Messingham at SU to be this awesome all-world OC but he just won his team a national championship. Me thinks it had more to do with their players executing. Replace Messingham with Rudy on last year's UND squad and I think that our results don't change one iota. Don't get me wrong Rudy has a lot to improve upon and a lot to prove this year, but it can get slippery if we pin our excuses on one guy. Lots of blame and credit to go around. Signed, Mrs. R

    2018 Season

Santiago watch: Looking forward to watching John Santiago add to UND's Mount "Rush"more in this, his final season as a Fighting Hawk. IMHO, already carved in stone are (1) Phillip Moore (5,467 yds, and 5,586 AP yds), (2) Shannon Burnell (4,218 yds and 4,840 AP yds) and (3) Bill Deutsch (3,283 yds and 3,798 AP yds). Santiago currently sits at 3,159 rushing yds, good for No. 4 all-time at UND, and No. 1 in the Division I era. Santiago currently sits ahead of Milson Jones (2,412 yds) and behind Deutsch. He only need 125 yds to eclipse Deutsch. He needs 1,060 rushing yds to surpass Burnell, and a whopping 2,309 rushing yds to catch Moore. As far as AP yds go, Santiago sits at 5,539 yds, good for No. 3 all-time, and No. 1 in the Division I era. Santiago currently sits ahead of WR Greg Hardin (5,502 AP yds) and behind No. 2 Philip Moore (5,586 AP yds) and No. 1 WR Weston Dressler (6,690 AP yds). He only needs 48 yds to surpass Moore and 1,152 yds to claim the all-time top spot for AP yds. In his three years at UND, Santiago has averaged 1,053 rushing yds per season, and 1,846 AP yds per season.
  23. I see what you did there.
