  1. Imagine the rancor if we actually lost these games.
  2. UND is playing very well considering it has the big #1 on its back and can expect every team's best night in and night out. I haven't done a peer reviewed study or anything, but I think that kind of dynamic has the same effect on a team's "want-to-beat" factor as it does when a team is fighting to stave off a season-ending defeat.
  3. I think UND can handle anyone in the country that might be placed with us int the West Regional. The goal tending and defensive play for the majority of games as been superior to Hak's past FF runs. Couple that with solid senior and junior scoring, yet with not a lot of heralded superstars, and this team looks a lot like those of the late late 90s/early 00s. Go UND! Just have to shore up that last 10 minutes of games.
  4. Nice win in Seattle against a Pac 12 biggie.
  5. Figures. Considering the impeccable track record of the source of the information that started this whole speculation.
  6. I was at the game, and had a great time. Attendance was fine given the time of day. I think the women compete hard and represent our school well. I have no problem spending my hard earned dollar on this product. To each their own.
  7. Him, too! I have been particularly impressed with the Dranka and Greely, and Greer sounds like he might have been a steal. Time will tell.
  8. Softball cranks up again later today against Iowa State and San Diego in California. Go UND!
  9. West Coast swing through Washington starting this afternoon. Enjoy the rain, boys! Play through it if you can.
  10. Great write up, Dave!!!!! Look forward to it always each week.
  11. Win 1 and were in... whole new season after that. Regroup, win three in a row, cut the nets and get outta town!
  12. I hate sounding this way... but that officiating crew that was at NAU was also up here for our game against Sac State. I know officiating is a tough job... but it just seemed like this crew has it out of Brew. To his credit, he walked by me after the Sac State game and we had a brief chat about it: Basically, I said "It's tough when you got to beat the Stripes, too, in addition to the other team." I won't repeat what he said, but suffice it to say, he didn't bite on the excuse that I laid out there for him.
  13. Hopefully, everyone is on the same page that a slow Friday start won't cut it this weekend. Let's go, boys!
  14. Looks like the new High Performance Center is completely enclosed finally, as all the walls and windows are in, save for the big garage type door opening on the west side. Now, I wonder how long it will take to get it prepped for whatever will make up the flooring inside, i.e. concrete, turf, track. Is it conceivable to have turf put in over the next 30 days to the point where it can be used for spring practices if weather dictates? Simple question. Not.
  15. Should be a nice weekend for a recruit to check out campus. Denny would look good up front in a few years with Greer, Dranka and Greely. Any 3-man combo of the four of them.
  16. I hate this time of year....too much idle time for 90+ young men to stay out of trouble. Hit the books, hit the weights, hit the film, rinse repeat.
  17. No clue. If, and I say again IF this is true, and after it plays out in court.... how does this sound?: suspended from spring ball and spring game (obviously), suspended from participating in fall camp and the team's non conference schedule. At that point, he's got to earn his way into the two-deep like he would have had to do had he been practicing since spring. Another violation of any kind is automatic dismissal. Does that sound fair, too lenient, or too harsh? I don't know. What has our precedence been in these kinds of situations within the athletic department?
  18. Oh, the stories that you chuckle heads weave when you're trying to justify reasons why things happen at levels that you're totally closed off to. Your boys need more to do in their lives than sit around and make up stories to pump up their cred in this so-called club. When you little scamps get together, you're worse than a sewing circle. -- Mia Wallace, 'Pulp Fiction,' 1994.
  19. Denny Elbert was another internal guy who had a lot of support in Grand Forks to get the job. He never expressed overtly any feelings for or against the nickname and logo that I can recall, yet he was dropped from consideration early, too. What's your black helicopter, tin-foil hat reasoning for this? I'm waiting with bated breath.
  20. And this has nothing to do with why Bruce is retiring.
  21. Inter-conference statistic p!$$ing contest aside, the men on this football squad are just good all around people and demonstrate it with things like this time and time again. Way to go, Dayo and Chris! http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/local/3685425-grand-forks-couple-avoids-homelessness-help-community
  22. UND goes 1-1 today in Florida against UMass-Lowell and Sienna College. They are 3-5 on the season.
  23. Wow! There are only six freshmen listed on the current roster. Looks like Coach Stevens is trying to establish a new culture with new blood from the get-go. They are 2-4 on the year so far. Last year, they went 0-14 before they picked up their first W. Here's to better times ahead!
  24. Exactly. That's what I'm saying. They don't.
