  1. I would add that for the environmental crowd, that as the article I posted earlier stated, his passion for conservation came from his time and experiences in North Dakota, so many of the things he accomplished in that realm as President might have not come to pass had he not stepped foot in North Dakota.
  2. I guess I have no problem with taking the name Rough Riders when North Dakota is the reason that name is even a part of history.
  3. http://www.nps.gov/thro/learn/historyculture/theodore-roosevelt-the-rancher.htm "Largely sneered at upon his arrival in 1883, Roosevelt had grown to prominence, respect, and even admiration in the eyes of local people for his manner and conduct. Roosevelt carried with him an enthusiasm and genuineness that common people connected with, and this rapport was the foundation of Roosevelt’s later political success. His enthusiasm for cowboy life spurred him to form the Rough Riders, the notable cavalry unit that brought Roosevelt national recognition during the Spanish-American War." Many of the people he met while on the trail in North Dakota and beyond. There would probably never had been a volunteer group named Rough Riders had not Teddy spent time here and changed himself drastically. So what connection do you have with Abe Vigoda that you use his likeness as your avatar. Abe Vigoda hasn't spent any time in the state. I apologize if that is a photo of yourself.
  4. Not so sure that it is one or the other for most of that block of voters, in which case they wouldn't be canceling each other out, only making it more difficult for Rough Riiders to reach 50 percent in the first round of voting. If they are one or the other, then that wouldn't bode well for Rough Riders in the 2nd round of voting.
  5. With who we stand to lose on defense, it sure would be nice to replace talent with talent, even if the experience factor wouldn't be there.
  6. We'll see how he responds at the slightest poor performance.
  7. I thought Schlossman said it was between the Boston Schools, Michigan, Denver and Minnesota.

    2015 season

Oh, and UND has plenty of programs that aren't available at NDSU and vice versa. We just have to make sure that we get recruits interested in learning about flying rather than the vast benefits and uses of manure.
  9. So then, what do you expect their record to be at Christmas break?
  10. I really like Shaw's new direction for the power play based on getting as many shots to the net as possible. I'm sure there are stipulations to that, but if they can get it done I think you see more shots per game and hopefully more goals. Call it the Brandon Bochenski/Zach Parise philosophy. I'm sure those two playing together helped confirm its effectiveness.
  11. To be fair, they got off to a pretty good start last year, which propelled them to a #1 seed. I think with so many freshmen and an unproven goalie situation, it may be a lot more difficult this year. Hope it doesn't become the kind of circumstance where you don't have any room for error the second half, which has happened to us a few times, because you don't know if you have the character you had in the past. Time will tell.
  12. The thing they are missing is the elite players they had a few years back. Put those players with the defense and goaltending they have now and you would have a Championship contender. Was hoping they could get Jincy Dunne or Amy Potomak, but no deal.
  13. Let's hope that Cam Johnson doesn't have flashbacks against Lake Superior from getting yanked against them last year. He doesn't need to be spectacular, just give us solid goaltending. If he matches the goaltending from the opposition, most of the time that should be enough, especially with our defense.
  14. Craig was football, Donnie hockey.
  15. How does someone this stupid graduate from college... Oh, wait, never mind!
  16. I'm thinking they have Boeser with Schmaltz and Johnson with Caggiula, but no idea who would be the other wingers. If Poganski isn't one of the wingers on the first two lines, then it would be nice to see him playing with his buddy Gersich. Don't know if they played together when they were on some of the select teams, but that might be a third pairing. Usually you know at least one line that was great down the stretch the previous year that would remain completely in tact, but that's why I'm looking forward so much to this exhibition, to see what they came up with, even if it may only be short lived.

    Western Regional

Guess with Brad saying to look for UND to bid in Sioux Falls, that UND may have some bad PR coming their way.
  18. I'm thinking Boeser will start with Schmaltz to see if they have chemistry. Interested to see where Janatuinen fits into the lineup. Could he be one that Schlossman said may surprise some people, or will he be fighting to get ice time with Gornall, Sanderson and possibly Gardner?
  19. How many seats have been sold for the AHL game at Scheels? When you've had professional games here in the past, it is kind of tough to get up for an AHL game. Even the NHL teams don't play their stars much, unless they were tied to the region.
  20. But then people would say that the logo they came up with for their favorite name was less than satisfactory, and that is the reason their name didn't get as many votes. Either way, people won't be happy. You can look at the logos that the Herald mocked up, and some of them look pretty lame.
  21. Also, Matt Kiersted and Jackson Keane are also "C" rated.
  22. I think most people like this logo, but if you think that a logo for the name Hawks will have any elements that could be deemed as Native American imagery, you're not being realistic. The irony of all of this is that Hawks was put forth by the consultant as a name that won't have any baggage, but with limitations on what you can do with the logo because of the feather aspect of it. If arrows are unacceptable, feathers that look like a headdress will be too.
  23. You know, they might have blown their chance. They should have sold the rights to determine the new nickname.
  24. This shows a capacity at SDSU at a little less than 20,000. One of the SDSU shows on Midcontinent said 25,000.
  25. Well South Dakota State added on to their Stadioum so the seating capacity is 25,000. Are they setting themselves up to be ready for some sort of move. What would UND have to do to be ready in case things move in a different direction with the Big Sky or making a different move with some of the Dakota schools? 25,000 seats for a small town like Brookings seems like a lot.
