  1. Not a ton you can do other than trade current assets. Parise and Suter might have a few good years left in them, but if they decide to stick it out, the new General Manager is going to have to be very, very creative and not miss on any transactions.
  2. Didn't Staal tie a franchise record for goals in a season?
  3. Would guess the new GM won't have the convenience of a long rebuild process. If they have two guys like Parise and Suter for the long haul because of contracts, they will most likely be trying to figure out a way to change personnel around them to keep getting to the post season and finding the kind of supplemental players to get past the first round or two. Easier said than done.
  4. Would assume Logan Stankoven is headed for the WHL, but would be nice to get a high end guy like that. If you look at all time stats with Yale, he surpasses Bowen and Blaisdell by quite a bit. http://www.eliteprospects.com/team.php?team=21082
  5. Bet Denver is one of the teams.
  6. What about Hain? I saw he was playing center yesterday against Canada. I suppose if they peg him as a top six guy, they will play him at wing.
  7. Denver and UND both had 5 drafted players this past year. Denver is losing 4 of theirs now, which is the average of the number of players we lost early to the professional ranks each of the last two off seasons.
  8. Randklev first star of the game tonight for Fargo with 2 goals and an assist.
  9. True, you aren't sure what you have coming in, but Duluth has replaced their goalies the last few years when I thought they would be hurting. To be honest, I'm still not sure how Thome will play if he is the man.
  10. With your Avatar, you have no credibility regarding "freak accidents". How big is Marchand again?
  11. True, but Duluth had a lot to replace from last year's team as well. With how close college hockey is, if you bring in top talent and they play the brand of hockey they need to succeed, you can still compete.
  12. Heard on the NHL network last night that they wouldn't be surprised if the New York Rangers made a run at a college coach like Jim Montgomery or David Quinn.
  13. Didn't work for me. Guess I should have set them even lower.
  14. Probably a good thing, because then we couldn't do the Sheppard, Sheppard, Sheppard sucks cheer referring to Brad Sheppard.
  15. Guess Motzko likes being on the other side of things.
  16. I know Rieger had that error against St. Cloud, but I certainly very much like his game as well.
  17. I see all six of those guys as being good enough to get power play time. It is going to be hard for the coaches to decide who gets pp time on any given night. To keep them rested for the penalty kill, maybe they don't put Poolman or Shaw on the pp. I suppose it all depends on how fast the young guys can make an impact. Like I said, expectations can sometimes be a liability.
  18. Yeah, they both put up big numbers, but it seems I see two way defenseman when referring to JBD and get up and go about Tychonick. https://www.grandforksherald.com/node/4420417 https://www.thedraftanalyst.com/international-tournaments/recap-2018-cjhl-top-prospects-game/
  19. Don't know if they are right or left handed, but I would guess since Tychonick is more offensive minded than JBD, they might put him with Poolman. This would allow Bast to play with someone who is more defensive minded, by all accounts. Of course just about all of our defensemen have an offensive component to their game, which is pretty much needed to add offense in college hockey today. I have also seen guys like Corey Fienhage and Keaton Thompson that come in highly rated that didn't always play a lot, when draft status would suggest they would. Expectations can cause fans to go crazy, much like they did on Keaton Thompson.
  20. Who does?
  21. Yeah, 10 points clear of the next guy in playoff scoring, and that guy played in 4 more games. Hopefully it translates to NCAA hockey, and it wouldn’t hurt to be sooner rather than later.
  22. Goon, you might want to change your Avatar with that little display of affection Marchand had last night!
  23. Mafia in three, two ...
  24. But Minnesota has already said they are not part of any Gentleman's Agreement, so why are they one of the worst offenders in recruiting guys before their voice changes? If everyone ditched the Gentleman's Agreement, it still would not change the early recruitment because once you get your foot in the door you are already ahead of the game.
  25. If I had a dollar for every time I heard "should sweep" this past season, I could buy a bunch of those Vegas tickets on Craigslist.
