  1. They can become very good, but you don't lose 5 guys to the pros and not have some growing pains, especially when a lot of the offensive output came from the back end. Wasn't there some stat the last few years that most of the top teams in the country had top scoring defenses. We have the guys that can make a step, but you don't replace experienced guys like Stecher and LaDue without feeling it. I would think whoever wins the league this year will have at least twice as many losses as we did last year.
  2. I have one available in section 302A Row G, right above the entryway in the upper deck for Banner raising night against Manitoba. $35
  3. They'll probably have one of the best defensive corps in the league, but have lot of scoring to replace.
  4. If they do put it on the field then, I cry foul that they didn't ever have the old logo on the field! Maybe I should start a conspiracy theory being that all of the people that were purported to want the Fighting Hawks nickname are the ones that are booing it at the games. I think the vote was rigged!!
  5. Don't get in the way of the narrative that the hockey program is the root of all evil.
  6. True, but even if they don't sport the new logo, who cares? I am sick of the booing too, but each person is going to come to terms with the new logo in their own time, so to paint those that aren't gung ho about it as the bad guys isn't helping either.
  7. One could say the same to those that think the players are shunning the new nickname. Why not boycott them to show your displeasure.
  8. I just hope the fans give him a chance to settle into the position and don't expect him to be Gary Thorn right away. Would be interesting to listen to Tim Hennessey's call of his first game.
  9. Would like to see something of the sort and then possibly a pitch out the other way to Santiago to get him some space. Could use some more play action along with some passes to loosen up their run defense on first and second down.
  10. And the play before UND had another offensive lineman in someone's face. How about using some of that hostility after the play during the play!
  11. The last time they had a regional in Fargo, they had already emailed Fighting Sioux club members by this time to email back if they were interested in purchasing tickets. Are they planning a different way to do it this year? Maybe they figure there is a way they can get more money for the Athletic Department if they take a different approach this time. Just curious if anyone knows what the plan is to sell tickets for the Fargo regional this time around.
  12. Part of the reason that Phil got picked last in the All Star game when they had captains picks. Not even sure if his dog would hang around if he wasn't chained up.
  13. That's because most of them are built on high scoring offense, and then get flustered when they play a good defense. Big Sky teams need to be a little more like MVFC teams in playing more consistent defense, and MVFC needs to be able to play more wide open at times to compete with the Bison. That's why it hurt not making the playoffs, because UND plays some pretty good defense, and the turnover game can be the difference in most games.
  14. If Hunt does that again and doesn't sit for an extended period I will be very disappointed in Bubba.
  15. You're right, there is a lot of that, but that is where I would hope our coaches could teach discipline, not knowing when it will be called. It is selfish to even risk it, because it makes it all about you, not the team. You rid your team of that type of selfish behavior, you have a leg up on just about every team.
  16. Though Hunt deserved that by getting in the guy's face. Wish Bubba would have sat him longer after that play. That could have been the turning point in the game.
  17. They seem to keep taking the hits with defections. I wonder if Tyler Biggs wishes he were further along in his education right about now. A first round pick that is going down in leagues, not up. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=121437

    Moo U diaries

I have a feeling if a UND hockey player scored a couple of goals against Toronto in their debut, people would be thrilled, as would I, so I don't know how some can lessen the accomplishment of being the guy that has to be the leader of the offense and having a pretty good game. You add in the limitations he had going into the game and it is even more impressive. These are after all professional football players on both sides of the ball. Probably a more equivalent situation would be if we had a goalie making their debut playing a pro team at the end of the standings. If he is in charge of the game, and does his job admirably, it is no less impressive because of who they play.
  19. But wasn't that the whole purpose of "leave no doubt" to begin with? It's not like they will be playing harder this weekend, or at least I hope not, because that should have been there from the start.

    Big Sky 2016

...and once again the Bison are charmed and the other team misses a winning field goal in regulation.
  21. Guess the bottom line is that at some point if they want to aspire to championships, they have to make those plays, so being in in those pressure situations can only help.
  22. That's all fine and good, but they always play very conservatively much of the rest of the time. Also thought it wasn't great to try the long field goal when defense had been stopping them, but they were bailed out by a dumb play by Bowling Green returning the missed field goal. I know they probably are more apt to go for two on the road.
  23. Said it before the play, but you hang your hat on defense, and you try for two? Your defense is playing well, and your kicking game is good, why not play it out?
  24. Run sets up the pass. If you can't run you make it difficult to pass. Like I said before, games are won in the trenches, and our O-line needs to make major improvement for us to be successful.
  25. I am with you on that as well. It scares me to think that our fan base could reach the level of arrogance where they think that every player on their team is a complete angel, while every player on their rival is a cheap hack, even though most of the same players were recruited by both teams. I still hold out hope for us as a fan base, because the arrogance isn't quite as prevalent in the media here that will indoctrinate the majority, but make no mistake, there are those that think our guys are saints as well.
