    2016 Season

So a 4-2 record against the Big Sky. Their record against the rest of the MVFC is 36-4 over a similar period. That is my point.

    2016 Season

Which is funny because the only teams that seem to be able to beat the Bison are from the Big Sky.
  3. I agree totally. On South Washington and 32nd avenue south the speed limit is 40, yet I find both lanes are blocked by people going 30. You seldom see people actually going the speed limit. I remember Tim Hennessy interviewing some women's softball players from Oregon, and they said they can't believe how slow people drive here. I have heard the same from other new people that come to town. Also, it takes 10 minutes to get anywhere in town, so can we please just put down the phones and wait to text until we get to our destination.
  4. They have had a couple down years for them, but no matter what you think of the Big Ten, they did win that conference. I don't think you will see them down for that long, in fact playing them this year in Minneapolis isn't a sure sweep. I wouldn't be surprised to see a split, because we are the Defending National Champs who are still their biggest rival. They will be ready to play, and it will be early in the season where we will still be adjusting to not having many key cogs from our team last year.
  5. Then the reasoning for leaving the WCHA was a farce. UND said they were worried that the voting block in the old WCHA was such that many of the smaller schools wouldn't be all in and would always be on the lookout to cut costs, reduce scholarships, etc. If you are adding those same teams back in, you defeated the purpose for bolting in the first place.
  6. I know you are kidding, but the guy who blamed UND and the NCHC for a lot of the upheaval. Wonder if he would be as ruthless on Mankato as he was on UND for choosing to bolt. Even if they don't get in, I would expect a commentary on what a classless move this is by Mankato. It's not like they would have let the WCHA know all this but for the Open Records request by Schlossman. Waiting for the article ...
  7. http://www.grandforksherald.com/opinion/letters/4032678-letter-grand-forks-breaks-promise-alerus-center-bonds These are some of my recollections as well.
  8. ... and there was supposed to be a sunset clause on the hike for the Alerus and with the higher collection than expected for years it should already be done. I am assuming that somewhere along the line they quietly appropriated that money elsewhere and there will be no sunset as they promised. When you give them an inch, they will always take a mile. And they wonder why citizens don't want to go down that road.
  9. So just think of how much money Lucia's hatred of UND has cost Minnesota by not playing us every year up until now.
  10. If we wanted to take the provincialism to an extreme we could say we always seem to have more players from the city of our University than Minnesota does. Bottom line is any coach will go find players anywhere that allows him to put the best product on the ice, and that goes for every sport. As long as you're not cheating, I don't know what the problem is with that.
  11. Oh, I'm with you. It was obnoxious listening to them spout that mantra every year I watched games at the old Williams Arena. The funny thing is they weren't provincial in other sports, so it was so hypocritical.
  12. Only they will tell you that UND probably has never won a NC without "x" many Minnesotans.
  13. I agree. I'm not a huge fan of the new logo, but when side by side against those, it certainly looks o.k.
  14. Don't think you will see near the differential between goals and goals against next year. That said, if they can get the same kind of clutch play that they got from Caggiula, Boeser, Schmaltz, Stecher , LaDue and Cam Johnson when the game is on the line, then the "W" is all that matters anyway. Jost sounds like the competitive guy that will thrive with the game on the line. http://www.collegehockeynews.com/stats/
  15. I just don't think it is easy to replace 4 or five huge difference makers that easy. You don't find the kind of competitiveness that Stecher has very often.
  16. Denver. They kept 2/3 of their top line up to now, and their best defenseman. They also have some nice talent coming in.
  17. Agree, we should be in the mix at the end, but it wouldn't surprise me if we lost twice as many games next year, which will still leave us in the mix. Don't think there will be a lot of teams next year that have the kind of records like Quinnipiac and we had last year.
  18. I'm guessing we will be picked 2nd or 3rd in our league, and without as much offense from our defense will need to score more on the power play to make up for that. If guys don't make the next step, then we may have problems, although that can be said of most. You don't lose 5 players to the pro ranks and an all time great like Caggiula and not feel the pain.
  19. Berry said they didn't want to bring in anybody just to fill a spot, and didn't know if there would be any more additions for this year.
  20. I have to say that it looks much better with the black outline on the logo.
  21. You mean like the faculty at UND did with the old nickname?
  22. $50,000 for a mock up that was bettered by many on this board says they don't regret it. If they took a job where their hands were tied, then that's on them.
  23. Exactly, are we as alumni and fans supposed to spout the company line as well because it will hurt the university? And let's talk about leadership! The leadership that has brought us to the point that so many people do not like the name or logo. Who actually hurt the university.
  24. Where was the University leadership when faculty were railing against the old nickname? They effectively cost the university millions of dollars.
  25. My takeaway from this whole process is the disconnect from most fans and the administrative people. When time and again you come away with the thought "what in the world are they seeing or thinking" it just makes you wonder if these people are so removed from the average fan that they have a hard time representing them at the table. It reminds me of our representatives in Washington D.C., albeit to a lesser degree.
