  1. Both teams looked good week 1 and will get better as the year goes along. Montana will be tough to beat in Missoula but their offense won't surprise anyone mid season. Get pressure on that QB is the key. UNDs O-line is the key to our season. I won't make any predictions until I see them in action.
  2. it was one game Darell. They will still be a tough team for anyone to beat with their offense and a defense that should get better as the year goes along.
  3. Great game. Great way to kick off FCS. Two good teams who will get better as the year goes on. Great win for the Big Sky.
  4. Montana's offense is fun to watch but will struggle with this QB. He is killing them with poor throws.
  5. lol. It would be Welles deserved. The kid is a hell of a QB.
  6. And their QB can't throw a ball. He's left points on the board in both red zone possessions with poor throws.
  7. In fairness to the people in Twamley Hall and Hyslop, our fanbase and the state of North Dakota has not allowed them to move on. They would have gladly done it 5 years ago. That argument has been brought up and labeled as fear mongering.
  8. Some of this responsibility is on the coaching staffs as well. They have to start spreading the message to their alumni on how important this is for the university. NDSU's way of doing this is one example of how to do it. They choose the raise money now route to capitalize on their momentum. A solid business case can be put together for this and I think UND fans would step to the plate as well. There is no award for being the 2nd FCS team to do it. They aren't starting until 2016 so they aren't going to get recruits this year because they announced this yesterday. However, now a bullet point for the other regional schools is its here. To be competitive, we will need to push this forward but the communication of the dollars and what it is for is the key component. Also, a big year from the basketball, football and volleyball programs wouldn't hurt.
  9. Maybe he talked to all 7 of them in the park last weekend.
  10. Glad to finally be reading some topics about sporting events again. Great win ladies.
  11. Good article on the approach from USD and SDSU. Good read with some good quotes from ADs and coaches. http://www.argusleader.com/story/sports/college/2015/08/28/jacks-coyotes-follow-ndsus-lead-pay-athletes/71290788/
  12. I don't think any. I think they either won't vote or pick a name they could handle.
  13. UND should only focus immediately on being able to offer COA for football, volleyball, mens and womens basketball, mens and womens hockey and which ever other women's sports to even out the Title 9 requirements. Two reasons- I think the baseball, tennis, golf, track and field coaches, etc. would rather have a few more scholarships for their programs. Offering a few more kids is more important than paying more to the kids your offering.Saying your doing it for all sports is great for the fans only. Your not going to lose a football or hockey player cause you are not doing this for tennis. You can always add to the other sports as funds become available.
  14. The stadium is the only thing that is holding/will hold them back.
  15. They were smart to continue to use the momentum they have built. That is what bothered me with Faison's comments, while the answer was not incorrect, his response didn't articulate the need or build excitement for potential recruiting opportunity.
  16. Larsen never mentioned anything about that so I didn't hear that. I did hear him say they will have a challenges with it, he talked about a website that directed people to go if they had questions about what COA was, finally he talked about how it will be a number tracked and taken out of the scholarship fund. Him or Jack never mentioned anything about it being fully funded for the first 3 years. Below is the podcast: http://740thefan.com/upload/NDSUCostofAttendancechatwithMattLarsenDavidRichmanandMarenWalseth82715.mp3
  17. Just listening to an interview with Matt Larsen on KFGO, its a little deceiving as he stated NDSU does not fully have the funds to do this right now and they will admittedly have challenges in raising that money. You wouldn't get that from any of the articles or comments out on this today but it came from him on the Jack Michaels show. Now what they do have is a couple big donations and are raising awareness on what this additional cost is to help raise the rest of the money. That is where they are smart, get the need out there, paint the picture and have your fanbase step up. That is the message UND and Faison should follow this up with. "We can do it but we need a little more help." If anything, NDSU doing it today maybe causes people to up there donations or start donating. UND just needs to push it.
  18. Here is the article you continue to reference. A couple interesting quotes in here from Faison- Sounds familiar. I'm guessing they looked at the numbers. Faison actually throws an idea out on how they will raise additional funds. Where have we heard about the importance of merchandise sales before. I'd say the interlocking ND is tapped out but maybe if there was something else we could put on jerseys, t-shirts, sweatshirts, beer mugs, etc. it would create more revenue than we currently bring in due to merchandise sales. Does this play into fear mongering or is this another fact on why picking another new nickname is actually important? http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/local/3725957-und-pay-some-student-athletes-cost-attendance-and-some-living-expenses
  19. You forgot a paragraph about everyone on here either donating to Champions Club or raising their gift to Champions Club. There are other creative ideas out there too that would help.
  20. This was my thought when I read the earlier comment. Careful what you wish for.
  21. Make sure you are already donating to Champions Club if you are sending an e-mail.
  22. LOL at the USD fan that says UND will be behind USD in facilities. I'd put UNDs athletic facilities as a whole against any school of similar size in the region.
  23. I agree. I actually don't disagree completely with Dan's comment.
  24. All this has already happened. Most people outside of UND wonder why this has drug on for 5+ years.
