I feel UND football has not been very relevant to Grand Forks and the state of North Dakota the last 10 years. A home football game likely gets televised and gets a little more media coverage statewide than going on the road. Also, football at home that weekend would be the only sport in town so even though attendance may be down compared to round 2 or 3 of the playoffs, I think the casual sports fan may come to check it out. Plus, playing at home increases the chances of winning. That may get another playoff game on TV and more exposure. Winning a playoff game (or two) will only build interest and potentially increase season ticket sales next season.

I think people are just tired of this process. Each decision has led to a follow up announcement the following week by UND "leadership". Myself personally, I couldn't vote Monday and it slipped my mind until I saw this thread again. If the administration has wanted to wear everyone down with this process, they won. I'm ready for it to be over. Unfortunately when the name is announced, I know it won't be the end.

I find it hard to believe the NC$$ would look at anything besides the bid they receive. Another reason attendance appears poor first round games is the NCAA also takes a percentage of gate. Big benefit in under reporting butts in seats. It is however the most poorly attended of all playoff weekends but I still think Faison has to put all his chips in. He may lose money this year but it will pay off in early season games next year.

I can't find it but the zzghxczquote from Texas A&M Kingsville head coach in the 2000s summed up the atmosphere back in the day.

Maybe we beat NAU because we were a better team that day. I doubt the only reason we beat them was because they were not focused. I don't know if we will have the better athletes in our next two games. Like I said I can see this team losing them as easily as they win them. I doubt we lose though because our team is looking ahead to the playoffs. Its the playoffs from here on out for this team.
-
If we had nothing to play for possibly this would be a concern. I think the team is well aware they are in playoff mode right now and everything that is on the line. The least of my concern is the focus of the team on the next opponent and what is at stake.

UND could go the way of the future for coaches shows and stream them on the internet. Getting games available in all areas of ND and western Minnesota is way more important. The channel that would be nice to get more games/sports on is FSN North. It is right in our recruiting area and can be picked up nationally. I'd sacrifice rural ND for that.

For a couple games anyway

If anyone was at the game, Reid's reaction after they called it no good should have told everyone it went through. He argued it with a couple different officials and was pointing at exactly where it went through. Is this a non review-able call? I am not going to lie, after the last few 4th quarter meltdowns I was bracing myself for that costing us the game.

At least one convincing win in our last two would help our cause. We need to win two and at least put ourselves in the discussion. There will be lots of 7 win teams in that discussion but hopefully the FBS win stands out. This team could lose these last two as easily as easily as we could win them.

I'm not even concerned about that. As much as I don't care for Kramer (ISU's head coach), his quote leading up to our game has proven very accurate. He has a ton of experience in this league and said "show me a defense that is struggling and its likely they are getting poor play from their safety's." I'm not saying all passing yardage and touchdowns are due to safeties being out of position but it is clear that we don't have depth at that position right now. The guys that are playing are playing their asses off but the athletes on other teams at the skill positions in the Big Sky are legit and it has showed against us this season.

Montana threw for 400+ vs. NDSU. I know they had their starting QB but it was his first start. I'm not excusing the terrible play from our DBs this year, it needs to get a lot better but I also don't think the struggles can be pin pointed on one single number. The games we have struggled against the pass have been a team effort.

I know the most important game is the next one but defensively how much of the bye week is spent preparing for Cal Poly and the option offense? Getting 100% healthy is priority #1.
-
This, he's doing everything he can to get more attention and he will play a position we need help at.
-
With how the season started, 6-5 would be a bit of a disappointment. This team needs to win these next two.
-
I don't disagree. Defense has to be the #1 focus Offensively I would put catching the ball ahead of Oline but we didn't play a clean game today upfront.
-
I know we had 400 yds rushing and should have had 150+ passing but am is it unfair to say our offensive line didn't play well today?
-
opposing offenses pick on one player in our secondary and he wasn't any of the numbers you mentioned.
-
we have to throw it when the defense dares us to. Studsrud did that today. Battles couldn't in weeks prior.
-
the offense runs so much better with Studsrud. I'd argue based on results this season it has everything to do with Studsrud.
-
absolutely they had to hand it off. Santiago had to burn nearly 10 seconds on the run. When Santiago was tackled there was 27 seconds left. Otherwise they would of had to take a delay of game and punt. Did you watch the Michigan game a few weeks ago.

The part in bold I agree with. I'm all for giving Joe a chance as we have got zero production the last couple weeks. That said, when comparing Bartles and Molberg, Joe used to make his plays throwing the deep ball. He really struggled throwing short routes. We have no deep threat right now so unless Joe has improved the short passing game, I fear it would be more of the same.

I was replying to a post about how NDSUs backup QB supposedly didn't miss a beat from Wentz. My point was the the new kid at NDSU statistically put up similar numbers to what we see from Studsrud And most importantly win the game. Studsrud has been doing that all year before the injury yet some still call for him to go to the bench. I'll take 126 passing, 100+ rushing with only 1 turnover.
-
Are you comparing QBs or entire teams? I would say the biggest difference is the current talent level up and down both rosters. That's the difference. Hard to argue 4-1 with Studsrud at QB, 0-3 without him.
