So I have multiple TVs in my living room and after the shellacking yesterday, while it was my wife's turn to watch House Hunters, I had the NDSU-YSU game on one of the other TV's. My wife glanced up at that TV and said "holy cow their guys are all so much bigger than ours, our players look like high schoolers". How I know a lot of our guys WERE playing high school ball a year ago, but its not the first time we've pointed this. USD's guys seemed way bigger and more athletic than ours when we were in Vermillion. Just sayin'...........

After a day to digest another disappointing performance, have to say that on the bright side, I was mostly impressed by how the defense played at least in the first half yesterday. They did their part early on against a team that is tough defend. Had Studsrud been playing I say there is a good chance we have the lead at the end of the first quarter, and it would have been a totally different game at the half. I was really impressed by Cam Hunt, and he really looks the part too. Would be really fun to have both Hunt and Rogers on the field at the same time. I thought the offensive line was terrible yesterday. Like most, I can't understand why Zimmerman didn't get the start at QB. Looks like the kid can make all the throws. Drops by receivers continue to be an issue. I have asked this before, but why does it seem like we are blitzing so much less than in the past? I get that the guys on the field are young, inexperienced, and it is a complex scheme so they are maybe playing it more conservative. But what they have been doing the past several weeks hasn't been working. I find myself counting how many pass rushers we send on every play, and 70% of the time it is 3 or 4. Last two years it seemed like 70% of the time we were sending an extra guy or more. Montana's Jensen is a talented guy, but he is still a freshman. The few errant passes he tossed yesterday happened when he was getting pressured. This year the D looks a lot more like Kotelnicki's version of the 3-4 than the Schmidt's, which wasn't very good.

I'll say it...... Nobody would be giving Johannesen a second thought if he weren't A) a local kid, and B) a Gopher transfer. The two guys ahead of him both ran for over C-Note last game. He's not seeing the field because he's not as good as the guys ahead of him. He will probably be a factor in 2019. Until then, he's a depth guy.......

Pluto TV stream has more holes in it than our defense........

Why can't we blitz with these young players? Serious question. Normally this regime blitzes 70% of the time. Tonight I've seen maybe two. Whether the talent or knowledge is there or not, stay true to the philosophy right?

Mine too. Was there half hour ago, now gone

If that link is directed at me because of the question I asked about strength and conditioning in another thread, let me just re-iterate what I said in my original post, it was an honest question because I don't know the answer to it. I've never been a part of a college football program at any level. But I am curious because injuries (and not just this season) seem to have haunted this program during the past decade. Also since the move to DI, it seems to me that our athletes on the field often don't "look the part" athletically or physically compared to the opposition. Whether that is recruiting, conditioning, or something else I don't know, but felt it was worth asking the question.
-
Honest question........ Is the strength and conditioning program up to par? Seems like there are many players in this program that oft injured, undersized, and/or overmatched. Reyes is injured for the 4th consecutive season. He's a nice player but is either unlucky or very brittle.

I've been a season ticket holder for 14 years and been to one or two away games each year. This was the first time we left a game early in all that time. And that included some awful games in the Mussman and early Bubba years. Very disappointing.......

First Question is who is heading to the game? Second question is what section are you sitting in? I've got a group of 5 planning on heading down.

Thanks for the confirmation. After the initial replies I thought I was just getting old. I'm also in 206 and had relatives in 208, and we all felt it was a major downgrade from the previous system. If it was improved in other areas, hopefully it is just a matter of making some adjustments.

Epic fail on the sound system. It is truly horrible as far as I can tell. Severely worse that the previous one.

They should have the National Championship Trophy, the Nickel, and Sitting Bull on display in the Alerus.

As an analogy, and for the old timers on here, this team can be the 1985 Chicago Bears. Studsrud can be our version of Jim Mcmahon. It should work out well..............

Hockey is also in town that night playing against Miami. Also noticed on Oct 21, football plays Sac St. at 12:30 and hockey hosts the Gophers at 7:00. Will the student section at the Alerus be packed because FB attendees get ticket priority for hockey, or will it be empty because they will all be camping out to get into the REA?

Pluto TV also appears to be available on my Amazon Fire TV Stick, so that's another option.

The Big Sky is far from unstable. It has lost one member in the last 18 years. For some inexplicable reason, UND has chosen to be the 2nd to exit in two decades. 8 schools have run from the Summit in the same time frame. The Summit has had 30 members in 35 years. It is unstable, always has been, and it will continue to be for years to come. I agree, it is perplexing...................

2-1 after 3 games....... 14-1 at the end of the season......
-
Sadly, threads like this one will be a regular occurrence on this site for as long as UND is in the Summit League. Everyone wants out of this league, so the next new member will always be a lively topic of conversation........

It still sucks, just like it always has, and probably always will..... -
It is ridiculous to me that UND won't partner with KNOX as the flagship. It is the only station in town that is local all day long. I understand it is likely a monetary/bid/rights issue, but really, KNOX is the local station. They talk GF issues ad nauseum. They would talk up UND big if they were the flagship. Bit as of now that have no reason too. UND is missing the boat here. Less money perhaps, but way more exposure.......
