The final number for the official season average for attendance comes in at 9,944. A couple things to add: This is the 3rd highest season average attendance on record, at least going back to 1999. I doubt though that there were any seasons at Memorial Stadium that averaged higher than the 3 best seasons at the Alerus. The increase this year represents a 20% increase over last season, and a 33% increase over Bubba's first season in 2014. This year's home opener (which was also the Potato Bowl) was the best attended game since the 2009 home opener (which was also Homecoming) and the last time a game sold out There were 3 games with over 10,000 fans on hand. That is the most since 2008 when the all time attendance record was set, there were also 3 that year with over 10,000 The lowest attended game this season was still higher than the lowest attended game of any of the previous 17 seasons The lowest attended game this season was higher than the entire season average of 7 of the previous 17 seasons I just updated the Attendance Wiki to reflect this season's numbers. Just for reference, I also added the lowest attended game and opponent for each season that I could find data for.

I understand the decision not to let them score at the end. Based on how this season went, the defense is far more likely to make a big play with a few seconds left than is the offense. If a final kickoff is forced, there is no way Richmond lets Santiago get his hands on it. The defense has won games for us already this season, they were rolling the dice that they could do it again, just didn't work out this time.

UNO beat Iowa last night. We play the Hawkeyes Dec 20.

I bet if that double reverse gained 15 yards that would be considered a great call. If the flea flicker would have resulted in a 9 yard sack, it would have been a horrible call. Fact is the team got beat in all three phases last night, in shocking fashion with such a big lead. For the first time this season, the defense couldn't bail out the offense when it struggled. #16 had a real bad game, but he wasn't the only one. Special Teams have been a liability all season, and proved to be kryptonite in this game. Devastating end to an otherwise extraordinary season. Future looks bright.

Don't know if this was posted elsewhere, but it looks like the game will be on channel 789 for DirecTV users.

So should the NSIC be on the table too then? Because if it is all about the finances, that would save a buttload of cash. Several former rivals hanging out there too....

Have to say I am very pleasantly surprised by the ticket sales to this point. The 7,500 sold already exceeds my expectations. Anything beyond that is gravy IMO. I guess i should have had more faith! Can't wait until Saturday.......

This letter is fantastic! Letter: A vote for staying in the Big Sky Conference

UC Davis, after firing head coach Ron Gould last week, has hired former Boise St & Colorado head coach Dan Hawkins. UC Davis hires alumnus Dan Hawkins as head coach Will be interesting to see if Hawkins can turn things around at UC Davis. They were one of the great DII programs but haven't been able to get over the hump since moving to DI in 2003. They have been a disaster the last 4 years under Ron Gould.

But their schedule was really hard. And it included away games too.

I know they are missing their starting QB, but just perusing through the stats, I really don't care for the match up. Spider offense is 9th in the nation in passing, and they are #9 in total defense. Run game needs to be firing on all cylinders come Saturday.

Seriously, you are going to go there?

As far as being proactive about supporting this program and urging others to do so as well, I feel like I've done my part over the years. I'm not making excuses for anyone. I'm simply being a realist about what I think the fan turnout will be for this game. If the attendance IS 8,000 that would be about a 49% increase over each of the last two playoff games held at the Alerus, and back in those days students actually turned out for football in good numbers.

Nice to get a win out there. Showed great resilience to come back from at least 16 down. It is unfortunate it got to that point though. They played terrible for 30 minutes, at a neutral site, in an empty building, against a capable but not overwhelming opponent. The challenge against FU in their new building next week, will be a different environment than this one.

That's because they suck.

After 13 years as a season ticket holder, which has spanned one of the best eras of UND football and one of the worst, and rarely missing a home game in that time, I would personally be very pleasantly surprised if 8,000 people turned out for this game. I think it will probably be significsntly less. I hope I am wrong, sad but true IMO, it is what it is.

Hah! 60 yard pick six for CP defensive lineman. CP down 7 with 8 minutes left

Poly down 14 in the 4th. Big Sky teams not performing well today.

Amen, brother!

USD finished just one game back of UNI in the standings. And UNI is apparently awesome, of course according to Sagarin and every fan of a Valley school............. And I think those pesky Yotes beat that vaunted UNI team this year too.......and maybe ISUr?
